Week 13 Progress Update: Sandhu Garden Maintaining Business
About Working: This week, we achieved a milestone by completing our largest project, a full garden redesign for a local community center. The project was a success and generated positive feedback, both from the center and other community members who noticed our work.
About Not Working: One area that proved challenging was inventory management. We ran into shortages of a few key materials, which caused minor delays. Additionally, time management remains an issue as the holiday season brings a flow in last-minute service requests, stretching our capacity.
About the Project Coming Along: The business is going successful, and I’m beginning to see the impact of our work on the community. It highlights the importance of building more strong operational systems. Scaling responsibly is becoming a priority to ensure we maintain quality as demand increases.
My Learning About Running a Business: This week has told me the importance of strong supplier relationships. Maintaining sufficient stock levels and planning ahead for seasonal spikes is essential. I’m also learning that communication—both with clients and within the team—is critical during busy periods to manage expectations and prevent burnout.
Learning About Myself: I’ve discovered that I work in collaborative environments. Working with the community center team reminded me how much I value teamwork and the satisfaction of achieving collective goals. At the same time, I’ve realized that I need to become more self-confident in setting boundaries to protect my time and energy, particularly during high-pressure weeks. This experience is helping me grow into a more balanced and strategic leader.
