He’s flinching, hands already moving up to signify that he understood. Brother just let him go with that—not wanting to cause anymore madness. His tall figure would somehow lumber through the apartment and to the kitchen where he’d settle down himself in front of a beer or two before going to check on Alice.
His sister would be sleeping on the bed in the small guest room he found to his surprise after having to pick the damn door open since she locked it. Covering her up with the blanket after very gently removing her slippers, he’s sinking down beside it with his beer in hand—-posting up.
He’s stays out a lot longer than an hour -- needing far longer to get himself to come down from the wave of emotions he’d experienced prior. He’d gone out for a few drinks, before he had decided to take the entire walk home, despite the fact that his boots were making his feet ache, and each step felt like stepping on a bed of needles. After a good three or so hours, he’s finally stepping back into the apartment, immediately stepping out of his boots and peeling off his coat to toss it over the back of the couch.
