In the middle of all the chaos with the murder of her father, her mother’s fear, and her own anger, Naomi hadn’t even realized that there were others around her that were also affected by the events. She was caught up with her own struggles, focused on only herself, once again believing herself to be the center of it. When she saw Lorenzo, she had almost thought herself to be imagining it, the familiar face among agents and other witnesses like herself. Naomi had yet to find the time to properly catch up so when she heard the knock by her door, he was the last person she expected to see. It was clear the way her eyes light up and the smile curved at her lips that she was delighted to see him, motioning him in with a wave of her hand. “Lorenzo─is that for me?” She questioned, reaching for the bar of chocolate he held in his hand. “You got me Belgian Chocolate? Now I feel bad, I didn’t get you anything.”
Now that she had acknowledged him, he dared to take a few steps closer to her. Her scent had already filled the room, the sweet and familiar smell. He hestitated for a second before he sat beside her. She seemed so happy, even relieved, to see him. It was the exact opposite to him. She was the last person he needed to see to enjoy this mission. Yet, there he was, talking to her, hoping to give her a little comfort. Oh, what a devil guilt was. He passed the bar to her and shook his head. “I don’t think chocolate bar is something you need to repay. Maybe if I had gotten you a brand new TV, I’d expect a hug and a thank you.” He managed to keep his tone light, casual one that he most of the time used around his friends. “Now tell me, how do you survive here without any civilization. Fourth day for me and I can feel my life force disappearing.”
“The air here is laced with pure oxygen and suburban anxiety. It’s toxic,” leaning against the door frame, Ren hesitated as she attempted to steal a glimpse at her brother’s object of attention. As if on queue, Enzo’s knowing grin complimented by the challenge in his tone irked her curiosity. Pushing herself of the pain, she moved beside him, her steps slow & dramatically cautious. “All right then, what is it?”
His grin did nothing but grow as he finallly got her sister to take those few steps away from the house. You could always count on the Marinho pride to do its trick. At least for him, he could never stand back if there was even a slight chance that it could be seen as a weakness. He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and steered her to look at the glistening water, cold water without a doubt. The summer in northern state had been less than satisfying so far. “See in the water, it’s my soaking wet sister.” He gave her a strong push towards the water, intending to get her to fall in.

He knocked on the door frame, just above his shouder that was leaning against the said frame. He did not like to see her that way, he had avoided her. He had seen on the streets a couple of times but the big doe eyes just brought a horrible sense of guilt with them. “Hey you,” he got out of his mouth. It had been a battle and this was the outcome. “How are you holding up?” Probably a stupid question, of course she was feeling like shit. She must have, what else would she be feeling after watching her father die. He felt almost dirty feeling sorry for her; after all, he was the one who had pushed the cartel to make the final move against him. Back then he had just told himself that it was politics but now... he really did not think politics was a game of thrones. He didn’t step inside the room, he wouldn’t until she invited her in. He held up a bar of Belgian chocolate, the only type of chocolate that was worth eating. “Brought you some chocolate.”
“Just come outside, there’s something you’ve got to see,” he insisted, standing on the patio, couple meters away from the pook. Perhaps it was too obvious, Ren had never been one to trust anyone blindly, much less him when he had that mischievous grin on his face. “Unless, of course, you’re scared. Who knows, maybe there’s a cartel member hiding in the bushes, waiting to take you out.” A harsh subject to make fun of but it was rather ridiculous how badly the FBI was protecting the witnesses and how they had been able to just infiltrate the whole thing. It was a good laugh really.

A small laugh spilled from her lips as she heard him, relaxing just slightly as the pair of them spoke. “You know, you could always just opt to wear socks,” Juliette spoke softly, teasing the boy with her words. The fact that he seemed so unhappy about needing to wear shoes was nothing short of amusing for her, but she supposed there were certain things she disliked as well - it was only natural. “I swear, I’m not as easily scared normally,” the blonde spoke evasively, tucking a long strand of blonde hair behind her ear. “I’m just tense today, I’m sure you’re not scary at all.”
“And walk on the shit people bring from outside just in my socks? Doesn’t seem likely at all,” he shook his head and snorted afterwards. The girl seemed sweet, looked much bitchier though, but seemed sweet. For a second he almost forgot his cover and almost asked why on earth she would have been exceptionally on the edge today. He managed to shut his mouth before anything got out. He ended up rubbing his neck. “Tell me about it, this whole thing... it’s just crazy. I almost feel like a prisoner living here. But for your information, I’m actually very intimidating --- all the time.”
Truth be told, she hadn’t meant to drop the cup- and she surely hadn’t meant for the delicate porcelain to shatter. It had been an accident, but when one expected themselves to be alone, it was hard not to be provoked into such a reaction when they realized they had company. “Jesus,” the blonde murmured, moving quickly to pick up the cup with a nervous laugh. “Sorry, I didn’t see you there.”
He only laughed casually, slipping past her, careful not to step on any of the shards. “I know how scary I look, that was a very natural response.” In all honestly, it was a bit surprising how eay it had been to “scare” her. “Luckily we’re in America, where people wear shoes indoors,” he muttered, it was clear from his voice that the custom wasn’t his favourite one: shoes were supposed to be taken at the door.
