Giving Chyrus NPD is funny because I A. know Mercia definitely was his therapist with that and was hello my little narcissist. While gripping his head and shaking him like a wet noodle because she did that.

But also when Vesiphone is having her big crash out Chyrus knows how this be so he's just stroking her he'd while she cries it out telling her all the good things she's done for Bastion.

I'm now emotional about the idea that Mericia chose Chyrus as her hand because she was genuinely proud of how much progress he'd made. When she'd met him as an Aspirant he was heavily insecure, even choosing to suffer in silence than damage his ego.

And now he could balance pride and humility flawlessly. He'd found purpose in helping others helped himself.

I was thinking today in work and I kind of realized that I may have given Chyrus NPD as well. Like it's a hear me out.

Cause generally I may have a different view of Pride than what's really meant by Blizzard. And this comes off on how I wrote the Paragon of Pride. Pride in this case is not about arrogance or dominance. It's about survival.

Chryus has been insecure. This is seen even in cannon where he puts himself down without even realising it. (In his journal he says he'd done nothing remarkable while also saying he passed two rites with ease. He doesn't view that as an accomplishment. He cannot see his own accomplishments. That is not a virtue that's putting yourself down.

When an Aspirant falls he automatically blames himself. Wondering what he could have done differently.

With his dyslexia and his arm he was ashamed. And to combat this he had to rely on pride. Pride is what got him through every hardship when he could not be humble when he needed self confidence.

Also 'I've worked for eons to be the embodiment of my principles.' Got to me. Because people hear NPD and presume that you're an egotistical abusive mess. But in actuality most people with NPD myself included have been working on themselves for years to be a 'good person'. Chyrus has not been perfect. Voitha has seen him at his lowest. But he believes working on yourself is enough.

So Chyrus doesn't hate the Paragon of Pride. In fact he thanks him, for he knows Pride has always been there to protect him from his insecurities. That Pride is not evil. He's just defensive.

Honestly I was doomed do like Kyrians + Diablo because religious metal is like 90% of what I listen to. My favourite band is Rave the Reqviem 😭. Not to mention the amount of times I choose the 'holy class' (Templar, Paladin, Crusader etc.). Like I played Kayle in LoL whenever I had to Top Lane, and was a Mercy main in OW. Like there's a theme here.
