Starter for fieldofshyflowers
“Spring is a wonderful time of year,” Say’ri murmured to herself. Currently, she was standing at the edge of a field, the mixture of grass and flowers dancing with the breeze. At her back was a forest, deep rather than thick. The sun shone bright overhead; in general, everything felt at peace.
Blinking slowly, Say’ri surveyed the scene quietly. Eventually she sat and leaned back against a lightly colored tree. Her eyes almost immediately closed, her body relaxing as this happened.
Only a few short moments later she was brought back to full attention by the sound of footsteps. Suddenly alert, Say’ri sat up, gazing in the direction of the noises warily. “Who goes there?” she called out.
“Finally!” Mirage exclaimed, before spinning and falling backwards into the field of flowers.
“M-mother, please be careful…” Daisen said, blushing in slight embarrassment, but smiled as well. He jumped at hearing a voice, and his face grew redder. Mirage heard the voice as well, and sat up, turning around to find the source.
She recognized the woman, and smiled widely. “Good evening!!” she called, waving at her as she did so. Daisen gave a small wave as well, after seeing his mother do so.
Say’ri blinked in surprise, temporarily rendered mute as she fought to recognize the two faces in her line of sight.
“Good evening,” she started hesitantly. “Beg pardon, but I cannot seem to recall your names. Mine is Say’ri. If you wouldn’t mind, would you like to share yours..?” While her guilt over her forgetfulness was obvious, she was determined to keep their conversation light.
Quickly Say’ri stood, taking a few short strides to get a bit closer to the pair. Her main hope was that they wouldn’t take her words the wrong way; she meant no disrespect. She was surprised that she had forgotten who these people were, as she was usually quite good at remembering such things.
“I…. I’m Daisen..” the boy muttered, hugging the tomes he held in his arms to his chest tighter.
“I am Mirage.” she said as she stood up, grinning widely still and patting off any dirt on her outfit. “It is all right, I was unable to remember yours as well.”
Daisen didn’t say anything about the matter, but he too didn’t remember that the woman’s name was. Well, then again, he didn’t know many people, therefore not many names, maybe a few here and there if he was lucky.
“I hope we did not disturb you.” Mirage apologized, realizing just now that her behavior just a moment ago could have interrupted something.
Say'ri nodded with a quiet chuckle, happy to have matched faces with names. She resisted the urge to cross her arms, instead placing one at her hip near one of her blades for comfort.
"Nay, I was simply enjoying the sights. You are no bother." She spoke softly, resisting the urge to comment about how nice for a painting the scenery would be. Not many knew of her hobby, and she wished for it to remain that way.
"Is there a reason the two of you came here? I can leave if you wish," Say’ri added, slightly nervous even if it didn't show. "I hope that I am not getting in your way."
