In the 1940s, 40,000 people would be infected with polio every year. Some of them would experience partial or total paralysis, many of them experienced death, and a lucky few are still alive to tell the tale, but not without the painful memories.

Last year, 33 people were diagnosed with polio. If we don’t completely eradicate polio, it could spread to the levels we haven’t seen since the Salk vaccine was introduced.

The only reason not to support a polio eradication cause is that you’re a greedy, narcissistic, ignorant person or that you’re in serious financial trouble. If you don’t have the money, don’t donate, but if you’re in Bill Gates’s tax bracket, do it or face my wrath and forever live in my contempt.

However, this isn’t about me and my journey toward greater progress. This is about the 33 reported cases of polio in 2018 and the millions of children made at risk by them. We can’t stop until polio has been eradicated in its entirety everywhere.
