just some brief details towards kaia’s hakuouki verse.

kaia is a foreigner and because of such; is hiding out in shimabara when she first encounters kondou and cent after a group of men attempted to attack her, they meet again while working and learns more to the stories behind the shinsengumi.

the more stories that she gets and  the more patrons she tends to when they come to drink and celebrate -- or have meetings --  she eventually tries to convince kondou into letting her stay with them in exchange for chores which she often gets out of and it’s cent who brings her back.

kaia escapes to kyoto from her home due to her terrible relationship with her family. primarily her father who wished to used their status and her as a pawn to obtain whatever goods he sought after. hating her life being planned out for her, she runs.

kaia starts developing a father-daughter relationship with kondou, in exchange for the relationship she never got to share with her own.

kaia, when the shinsengumi have the meeting pertaining to the ochimizu and rasetsu, overhears this and eventually steals a vial, turning herself into one.
