If you haven’t watched Unus Annus, I highly recommend doing so before the channel ends in mid-november and all videos will be deleted. It’s interesting to see their more experimental videos, and my favourites have probably been where they’ve done one thing but mainly sits and talks about life or experiences. The concept of the project has done a lot for me. I’ve been thinking a lot about how high bar I set for myself for what is acceptable for me to consider done. And not trying to revisit pieces to fix errors or redraw it, but actually drop things when I’m done and move on. To let go. (Mark, Ethan, Amy, if any of you see this and would like to use the animation, hit me up and I’ll send you the full resolution image sequence)

"the fandom is dying" IT'S REALLY NOT. MAYBE YOU SHOULD START FUCKING INTERACTING WITH CREATORS' WORKS
don't feel bad for not being able to contribute! not everyone can or wants to gif/edit/write/draw content. it takes a lot of time and effort that not everyone can or wants to spare and that's fine. but, if you find yourself in a fandom and you want to see more of something you're interested in, guess what?
by interacting with the content that exists (which took time and effort to make, just by the way) in a way that spreads it and/or encourages the creator, i.e. reblogging or commenting on or leaving kudos on it, you are encouraging creators to keep making content! and then you will have more to look at!
liking things is great and good and we are happy for the recognition and we understand that a lot of people put things in their likes to reblog at a later date, but it doesn't spread awareness of it, and it doesn't really tell us how you feel about it other than the fact that you saw it.
tl;dr: your fandom is only dying because people aren't encouraging creators. that's it. that's all there is to it, and it has a very, very easy fix: interact with creators and their content with something other than likes.

this is such a nonissue in the grand scheme of life but wait, there's more! I can give y'all a visual example of what we see as content creators.
here are two of my fics' AO3 stats in bar graph form.
out of the 3836 people (not counting repeated rereads) who read fic 1, only 14% left kudos and only 0.6% left comments. that is... a hilariously low amount of people. those hits don't tell me anything. now, do I appreciate the feedback that I got? yes, absolutely, I loved it. but that huge disparity between my hits and the feedback I got is extremely discouraging.
now, likes on tumblr are way more common than kudos on ao3, so I'd compare kudos to reblogs, and the likes to hits. likes/hits don't tell us anything other than that our work was seen, and that's great and all, but that doesn't actually tell us what you thought of it. we need feedback.
