Brussels are doing better this year. Been growing them in pots, and more frequent neem oil spraying. Sprouts are coming on. Have 3 plants. Two shown.

Trying to combat the pests. Since nothing survived the first mid season planting, I started beans in the greenhouse, then transplanted. Caged and scented with catmint, lavender, and mint stems, then sprinkled with slug bate and diatomaceous earth. They better grow!

Lower picture is (hopefully) the fall crop of potatoes. Fully caged to keep the raccoons out.

The porch pots were looking bad and buggy. Even after buying and replanting the coleus, They withered. So I tossed them all and replanted with celosia and evolvulus. They look much better. Well I did save one coleus and put it in a different pot. Hoping it comes through.

Bobby Gay and friend were getting too crowded so thinned and replanted.

First beauty of the season. Grilled it. I did find a second shortly after, that is now baba ghanoush.

Dug up the bed the rats ruined. A big parsley is left for now. Will prep that bed for garlic this fall. Planted the other bed, which was garlic with potatoes. Hoping I can keep the raccoons out. Newspaper has mint oil and rodent repellent sprayed on it.

The fencing kept the rabbits out, but just before I was able to harvest. Rats scaled the fence and ruined a row of beets and ate most of the carrots an inch down from the top. 3 rows of carrots. 😠

The buddliea has some kind of fungal disease now. I think it's getting over-watered too.

Got all the garlic harvested. Most of the onions. Some looked small so giving them a little extra time. All curing on the north side of the house. The shadiest part of the yard. I did notice spots in some of the garlic stalks. Not sure what that is. Last year I peeled the outer layer off of the garlic which really made a difference in storage life. Hardly any bulbs molded. So I did it again this year. Kind of a pain, but makes a difference for me.
