I want you to explain the erijohn ship. It is relevant to my interests. :D
omg LOL I was sort of joking because I don’t know how much people really want to listen to my shipping ramblings…
But okay. Let’s take a look at the whole Vriska/John relationship. Vriska was a pretty self-centered character. She didn’t have a whole lot of empathy to the situations of other people and wasn’t the most tolerant of trolls in the world. However, once she started interacting with John, she began to look at things differently. She went into the relationship with him simply expecting to manipulate him to her benefit. But John seems to be especially good at tolerating and making friends with abrasive people (see also: Karkat). And so Vriska’s relationship with John became less of a manipulation and more of a friendship, and through that friendship with him, she was able to take a step back from the norms of troll society and realize some things about herself.
Now, John and Eridan have never interacted in canon. But Eridan and Vriska do share the trait of a self-centered perspective on life. So it is possible to hypothesize that if Eridan and John ever had a reason to interact, that John would react to Eridan in a similar way that he reacted to the other more abrasive trolls. John can get snarky, but he also has a high tolerance for contempt (or is completely oblivious to it) and so I think he could’ve probably managed a conversation with Eridan better than Rose or Jade did. From there, we can suppose that, since Eridan thrives on attention, he would keep coming back to speak with John until something like a friendship was formed. And then perhaps, perhaps, like Vriska, Eridan would gain a new perspective on things through a relationship with John, possibly changing for the better himself.
EriJohn is a relationship dealing in complete hypotheticals, but I think, due to the nature of their characters and the patterns we’ve seen in John’s relationship formation as a whole, that it is plausible as a ship.
That is the other reason.
