BASIC LIFE SUPPORT
Tips on bandaging: Place pressure first to minimize the flow of blood, if it is an open wound. Put a clean dressing on top of the wound. Make sure the cloth is clean. Make sure it is neatly done. Do a square knot for it to be easily removed. Do not do the knot directly on top of the wound. Do not put too much pressure, it may stop or limit blood flow. Make sure the knot is done on the side where the patient won’t lay on it to prevent discomfort.

Studying strategies that you can use in nursing school!
10 things to keep in mind in your Oral Revalida
Teamwork: Case Presentation
Teamwork in case presentations is done through well-rounded and impactful discussions. When team members collaborate, it brings different perspectives, knowledge, and strengths, ensuring a more thorough analysis of the case. By supporting one another, it create an environment of trust and open communication, where everyone feels valued and heard. This not only enhances the quality of the presentation but also fosters personal and professional growth. A strong team works together, dividing tasks, offering constructive feedback, and lifting each other up in moments of uncertainty. In the end, a case presentation is not just about delivering information, it’s about learning from one another, refining skills, and building connections that makes learning and being a student truly meaningful.

Tips to make an FDAR
For the focus: it can be a chief complaint, nursing diagnosis, or an event like an admission or discharge
For the data: Start with "Received," level of consciousness, medical contraptions, subjective data, objective data, initial vital signs, and then pain scale
For the action: interventions related to the focus, NANDA can be a guide, keep it concise and straight to the point
Response: Patient's condition before closing the entry (must relate to the focus), include things you want the next nurse on duty to know (ex: S/F U/A or still febrile), include latest vital signs / pain scale, include "endorsed to NOD"
Write your name and signature at the end
General tip: avoid sentences / unnecessary words (ex: the vital signs are very good or normal / the patient is wearing a pink blouse), put a line if there are extra spaces after writing the data-action-response
Balancing nursing school and social life
Balancing nursing school and social life is all about embracing the journey with grace and intention. It’s okay to pour your heart into studying, but it’s just as important to make space for laughter, connection, and moments that fill your soul. Sometimes, it’s the simple coffee breaks with friends or a quiet evening with loved ones that recharge you the most. Remember, you’re not just growing into a skilled nurse but also nurturing the relationships that keep you grounded. Give yourself permission to rest and enjoy the little things. It’s all part of becoming your best self.
Rotational Duties
Before I became a nursing student in Ateneo de Davao University, I have never thought of the groups you come with in rotational duties. Nevertheless, it is something that I treasure in life. I thank God for the people that surround me, making me feel that I am never alone. That is why I want to share this as my first blog. It is a reminder to never be afraid. In nursing school, there will always be mistakes and flaws, but you are never a soloist but rather a team member. In the health care field, it is important to keep in mind that teamwork should always be present. It is where we thrive the most. We work together to offer the best care possible for our patients. Whether it may be doctors, other nurses, janitors and janitress, etc. In RLE groups, I cannot express how important it is to cooperate with each other. There will be case presentations and that requires efficient collaboration. To end this blog for today, may we keep in mind that “Nursing is a Blessing.”
