I am so bad about posting my zines! This has been sitting around unshared for months, and most of the art in it sat unshared for... much longer than that. This one hasn't been officially printed yet, and my two test prints went to friends, but hopefully I'll have a real copy eventually! I reached tumblr's image limit, so the back cover and table of contents are missing, but I'll type out the titles below. :)
It feels like I can never find oc/character templates that quite fit what I'm looking for, so I finally made something! My husband got me into WoW, so that's obviously what it's for, but I think it's broad enough to be used for other things as well! :)
I took some inspiration from various templates online, as well as video games and tabletop sheets (especially VtM). The half-circles on the right are transparent so that color palettes can be dropped in easily. This is free for credited non-commercial use, so feel free to reblog the post with your filled out versions; I'd love to see how y'all use it!
I wanted to do a photo study to see how the painting technique I used on the cats would translate to figures, but I made it one of my husband's WoW characters because that's more fun. 🤷 The way I did some of the shading is really giving "multiply layer" to me, but I'm happy with the subtler transitions.
He has me playing the game a bit. I didn't like it when I tried it before, but it's much more fun doing it together. <3

I was torn on whether to keep the little doodle elements in Lilith's portrait, so I'm just posting both. :) I think I could've stuck closer to my goal of keeping things loose, but I'm just happy to have all three cats done. Whether I'm doing a dog portrait has yet to be determined. 😬
Blake liked my painting of Mama, so I had to make him one of his number one baby. 🥺 Calypso (aka Mitten, on account of her many, many thumbs) was planning her attack on Blake's bagel. We have lots of pretty photos of her, but this one felt more like *her*.
I painted this on Sunday, but am just now getting a chance to post it. I did the background differently than I did with Mama, and I tried to implement some of the things I noticed while sitting with Mama's painting. Mittens' fur was so hard though. So many colors. 😵💫
Behold! Leota Mae, aka "Big Mama", the beautiful tyrant that ruins the peace in our humble home. It's hard to get a sense of scale for her here, but trust that she is large in all ways, including personality.
My husband is such a skilled painter and, despite not painting much myself, his work inspires me so much. After seeing some of his latest work, as well as my cat sitting pretty, I felt the urge to (digitally) paint. I tried to keep it loose, and I honestly didn't think I was capable of painting in this sort of style. I think the gummy I took unlocked something within me. 😅

After receiving one of Heloise's passionate letters (with things tumblr would surely flag if I repeated), Abelard, who had moved on, started his reply with "To Heloise, his dearly beloved sister in Christ, from Abelard, her brother in him" and I think about it more often than I should. My jaw dropped when I read it.
If you're not familiar with Abelard and Heloise and you enjoy steamy, forbidden, real-life medieval love affairs, I recommend looking into them!

The risograph prints I ordered came out quite offset. The last image is an example of one of the better ones. I know it's part of riso printing, but a good chunk of them were straight-up unusable. 😭
