March – Elena Maria Silva, a Portuguese immigrant working as a waitress in a diner meets surgeon and entrepreneur Daniel Elliot Astor. During their short interaction, Daniel finds himself quite mesmerized by Elena but never acts on it. Daniel leaves that morning but find himself coming back at at least two times per week for the next few months.
September – As their interactions increase, the two fall for each other and end up having a relationship.
December – Unknown to either, Elena gets pregnant with Daniel’s child.
January – Elena finds out Daniel is married, and although Daniel is convinced to leave his wife for Elena; she doesn’t trust him anymore and breaks up the relationship.
February – Elena finds out she’s pregnant but decides not to tell Daniel.
July – Finding Elena working at the Diner, Daniel finds out she’s pregnant and that he is the father of the child. Daniel tries to convince Elena to let him go back to her but she refuses, she only agrees to let him be part of the baby’s life only if he proves her he’ll love and care for her as she will.
August – Daniel tells his wife Vera about his affair and the child Elena is expecting. In a rage, Vera demands for him to never see Elena or the baby but he refuses and asks for a divorce, but she refuses and asks to work things out; hesitantly, Daniel gives in and tries to mend his marriage while still being in Elena’s and the baby’s life.
October 2nd – Elena goes into labor in the late hours of the night of October 2nd, Daniel rushes to the hospital to assist Elena with anything she or their daughter might need. The whole process turns out to be a painful ordeal for Elena and ends up needing a C-section, sadly due to complications in surgery; Elena bleeds out and dies just as her daughter is being born. Daniel ends up holding Eva in his arm but mourns at the same time as he is notified of Elena’s death.
January - Eva masters reading basic books, and she quickly rushes through learning how to read.
March - Eva is already reading chapter books.
April - Daniel realizes that Eva is burning through the information provided to her, and she is starting to become detrimentally bored. He reaches out to educators near him, and he finds someone that is willing to visit Eva just to entertain Daniel. However, once the educator meets Eva, she agrees to tutor Eva. Vera discovers the bill for this, and her grudge against little Eva grows stronger.
May - Daniel attempts to sign Eva up for preschool, but school after school admits that she is far too advanced for them. They suggest meeting with the school board to get Eva signed up for public elementary school. Daniel does meet with the school board.
July - After multiple back and forth with the school board and educators out of state, they finally agree to allow Eva into public school with the provision that they will insist on her leaving at any point if it is to the detriment to him.
August - Eva starts elementary school.
August - Eva first grade.
December - Eva is such a disruption to her second-grade class due to her boredom that the teacher meets with the principal. The principal ends up calling Daniel, and they demand that Eva finally get tested by the state of New York. They take a multiple day test in New York city. The testers reveal to her father that Eva is already at the third-grade level.
January – Vera begins to mentally abuse Eva, making her develop insecurities and negative thoughts about herself. At an age where the girl should be freely playing pretend, Eva is constantly pushing herself to be better as she feels she needs to seek her stepmother’s approval. Eventually, Vera’s starts commenting on Eva’s weight and body causing the little girl to watch how she dresses, and eventually changing her eating behavior.
August - Eva starts third grade.
August - Eva starts fourth grade in the honors classes. Finally, she is challenged intellectually.
December - Eva already ends up grasping all the concepts in the class, and once again becomes a disruption to class.
August - Eva starts middle school.
July – Eva’s eating disorder develops in full force.
April – Daniel finds out about Eva’s eating disorder and as Eva tells him what Vera has put her through Daniel is enraged, he always knew Vera had a hard time with Eva being around, but he never thought she’d hurt her. Daniel separates from Vera and files for divorce which soon becomes an ugly process as Vera refuses to divorce Daniel.
August - Eva starts high school. She starts on a fast track to graduate.
November – Daniel is diagnosed with stage two brain cancer.
January – Daniel officially divorces from Vera.
May – Eva graduates from High school and enters a pre-medical program at her local community college. Due to her age, she is allowed to go to college for free. She takes ten courses per year fast tracking college.
July – Daniel dies. Vera immediately tries to fight Eva for Daniel’s money as the man has left half of his inheritance to Elliot (Eva’s half-brother) and half to Eva. But Daniel was smart enough to leave specific instructions for Eva’s care in case of his death and appoints his lawyer and friend as Eva’s legal guardian. His name is Derek Karev.
September – Vera starts showing up at Eva’s school to try and scare her into giving her the money. Vera stalks Eva continuously for the next few months.
December – Vera psychically attacks Eva; she calls the police and files for a restriction order against Vera.
May – Eva gets her bachelor’s degree.
August – Eva begins medical school.
January – After Eva not calling her legal guardian back during the holidays and avoiding visitation, Derek decides to visit Eva without telling her in advance. He finds Eva has drastically lost weight and looks sick and depressed. Eva lies to him saying it’s just school stress, but he doesn’t believe her and tells her if school is making her so stressed, she’s getting sick, she should take a year off but Eva refuses. They end up having a fight and Eva yells at him telling him to leave her alone.
March – Eva ends up in the emergency room after she faints during class. Derek is called and he travels back to see Eva at the hospital where they tell him she’s malnourish and has signs of an eating disorder. Later, Derek has a heartfelt conversation with Eva and finally she speaks out about what she has dealt with since she was a kid. She agrees to get help if she stays in school.
October – During a conference held at Harvard, Eva meets John Hastings. A brilliant young surgeon who’s giving a conference about groundbreaking medical investigations. John is immediately impressed by Eva’s intelligence and beauty but being she’s underage and there’s a 12-year gap difference in their ages, he keeps it professional but gives her his number telling her in case she ever needs help, has questions or if he might have an opening to help in his investigations and trials. Thinking he’s just offering to mentor her, Eva exchanges numbers with him.
April – Eva meets Alexander Avery, a law school student four years older than Eva.
May – Eva and Alex start dating.
June – Alex invites Eva to his family summer vacations; she agrees and spends her summer with the Averys. The whole experience turns out to be bittersweet for the young girl as she is shown for the first time what a “normal” loving family is like.
September – John calls Eva and offers her a spot as an intern in his research studies for an upcoming medical trial. Eva excitedly accepts and shares the news with Alex who immediately gets jealous saying she won’t have time for him and their relationship.
December – Eva and Alex breakup due to his jealousy.
May – During a night where they must work until late hours on Derek’s research, John kisses Eva. John apologizes saying it’s inappropriate because of their professional relationship. They both promise not to let it happen again, but it does. The two go out on dates during summer breaks while she still works with him in his research.
August – Eva loses her virginity to John.
May - Eva finishes medical school and passes her medical licensing exam.
August – Eva starts her internship at Massachusetts General Hospital where John also works, the two keep their relationship hidden.
November – Eva introduces John to her legal guardian during Thanksgiving.
December – Eva spends the holidays with John and his family; he introduces her to his parents and sister.
May – Eva attends John’s birthday dinner party where he only introduces her as his former intern during his research and acts distant the whole night. Eva and John have a fight that night as Eva had the expectations, he would at least come clean about their relationship with his friends. John insists they must be careful as he’s an attending while she’s an intern at the hospital.
July – During a hospital event, John is seen hanging out with a woman. Eva gets jealous and confronts John about it, but he insists she’s just being paranoid. The rest of the summer Eva’s uncertainty in her relationship and the stress of John’s behavior starts triggering her eating disorder again.
August - Eva finishes her intern year. She starts her neurology residency.
September – Weeks before her birthday, Eva talks to John and asks him to show up at her birthday party; she insists is important to her to have him there.
October – John doesn’t show up to Eva’s birthday party but calls her the following day to apologize, he insists he was working but Eva is sure he’s lying to her. She tells him she can’t keep doing things like this and breaks up with him.
November – Derek Karev dies of a sudden heart attack. Eva travels to New York for the funeral where she’s surprised by John who shows up to support her. A couple of weeks later they decide to give their relationship another try.
February – Eva finds out John has been seeing the woman he met at the Hospital event last summer. He confesses to the affair but also tells her, the relationship with the other woman has turned serious; he tells her he needs someone to take things more seriously something he can’t do with her due to their age gap. The couple end up breaking up for good this time. Eva’s eating disorder gets worse.
April – John proposes to his new girlfriend.
May – Unable to see him around the hospital anymore, Eva decides to apply for a residency change to New York. Two weeks later she’s accepted into NYU’s Residency program. She immediately moves to New York and starts her residency at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue Hospital.
February – At an event of his late’s father’s children foundation, Eva meets Travis Lewis, an aspiring politician and law graduate working at the foundation. He asks Eva out, but she denies the invitation. Travis takes the rejection nicely and mentions maybe someday they can hangout as friends.
May – Eva runs into Travis at a coffee shop, he invites her for a cup of coffee to which she accepts after some hesitation. The two-start developing a friendship after that. Â
August – Travis asks Eva for a chance to date her, she finally agrees.
November – Travis and Eva move in together.
September – Eva starts feeling her relationship with Travis is losing its spark after years of falling into the same routine and focusing on their careers, seems like the two have stopped really working on making each other feel loved. Eva starts trying to rekindle their relationship.
November  – Travis continues to feel distant and doesn’t pay much attention to Eva who has been trying to work on their spark. Eva talks to him about it, he apologizes and promises to try harder on making her feel loved.
January  – Travis comes clean about an affair he had with a woman from his office. Eva decides to make the relationship work and tries to forgive him and move on.
March – Unable to move past Travis’s affair, Eva tells Travis she doesn’t think things will be the same. Travis tries to convince Eva to go to couple’s therapy and Eva agrees.
August – Eva finishes her Residency and passes her board certification. She starts her fellowship in Cerebrovascular Disorders.
September – After months of trying to make things work, Eva and Travis decide to end their relationship. The couple move out of their apartment and sell it.
January – Eva finishes her fellowship in Cerebrovascular Disorders.
May – Eva moves to Sapphire Lake Hospital after getting offered a job. She quickly befriends Aurora Larson and Blake Hudson.
