“they do but they’re all so sad,” she answers with a frown, looking away from the screen and over towards roxanne. “why would we wanna watch a movie ‘bout people fightin’ and breakin’ up? that’s what all those ones are about. they ain’t never have a happy ending.” well maybe there were a few out there that did, but in lottie’s experience the films that took place post the big kiss and happy get together were always just about the relationship downfall. and who would want that? @rcxannemartin

Not kidding that there were better places to start an improvisational act, and more so when this included some dance steps and also singing. Better yet, look for a place that at least has a roof or a place to shelter from the wind that only ruffles the hair at the least inopportune moments. Adrien just let out a sigh, dropping the hand that held the improvisation sheets with all the dialogues of the character and the movements that had to be performed according to what was prepared for the performance that at some point in the school year would premiere. Would not be admitted, but the french guy was a bit nervous with the idea of ​​just imagining the hypothetical scenario of how to go out in front of so many people with the spotlights focused on him. All blaming it on a non-existent stage fright, should he talk about it with someone? “C'mon, you just need a break.” Talking to himself was another habbit, not bad but some people seems to not like it. Who cares about their oppinions. The artist’s eyes traveled to meet those of another person who had apparently been there watching him, him and the act. Was a known face or a new individual? Not like he would mind, an unbiased opinion was what was necessary. “You saw the act. What was your oppinion? Was it purrfect or Catastrophic?” Little smirk, a little cat pun was never bad. Eyes shining with excitement. “How was it?”

Joining an improve group hadn’t been on Lottie’s to-do list for the year and it certainly wasn’t anything that she ever thought she’d follow through with. But one of the drama professors had suggested it to anyone new to the department and since she planned on trying out for the upcoming play, she had figured it might help. And it wasn’t like she had officially joined anyway - this was just a trial run to see how she even felt about it, the blonde had yet to absolutely commit to being a part of it. Though once she spotted a familiar face, she felt far more inclined to stay if it meant getting to be near him. A small squeal leaves her lips before she covers her mouth with her hand to hold it in, the fangirling already starting before she had even caught his attention. Though it didn’t take more than just a few seconds before Adrien was looking over at her and Lottie bit back another noise of excitement as she lifted her hand away from her face to wave. “Bonjour!” she answered back, the word sounding a bit strange in her southern accent. “Oh it was great - I was actually just headin’ back there to see ‘bout joinin’ it. Are you always in ithe group? Or was this just a one time thing?” The answer to those questions certainly would heavily influence whether or not Lottie decided to go through with officially joining or not. Even if she had to be honest, the cat puns he’d made did throw her off a bit - but it wasn’t anything she wasn’t able to overlook. He was Adrien Agreste after all, a supermodel she’d grown up following.

Laughing softly, Roxanne can’t help but admire her friend’s never ending confidence. It’s something she’s never had much of herself, but being around Lottie and seeing how sure she is of herself always helps to give Roxanne a bit of confidence too. “And it was definitely worth it. You look amazing.” She can’t imagine putting in that much effort just for a dress, but in the short time she’s known Lottie it’s been perfectly clear that she takes her looks seriously. It’s something that Roxanne could never fault her for, deeply admiring how fantastic Lottie always looks, even if she’s just lounging around the house. “So is there anyone you’ve got your eye on tonight?” she asks excitedly, looking at the crowd around them. It’s hard to tell who most people are behind the masks, at least at first glance, but it’s definitely part of the fun.

“Thanks, sugar.” Though Lottie already knew she looked amazing, it was always nice hearing it from someone else. “And your dress is stunnin’ too - but I’ve already told ya that.” Multiple times, in fact - when they’d been shopping for the gown and a few times at random over the weeks that had followed leading up to tonight. Every time the blonde had thought about the dance she’d gotten excited for so many reasons, one of them being how fantastic she and Tiana and Roxanne were going to look. And Wendy of course, but Lottie was still a bit saddened by the fact that their fourth roommate had gone to someone else for dress shopping help. “Oh no, not anyone in particular. Any fella will do, really,” she answered with a shrug as she looked around as well. “All the masks make it a little hard though, don’t they? What if we meet our soulmates tonight and have no clue ‘bout who they really are tomorrow?”

tiana was almost certain that you could lose your liquor liscense (and get fined) for selling alcohol to minors by not checking id. or at least she was pretty sure that was the risk for restaurants. but lottie seemed hopeful that they could get a drink so she smiles and keeps that fact to herself. “look how long this line is,” tiana gestures to the line ahead of them. “i doubt they’re taking the time or card people.” which, tiana does genuinely think. she knows often in the rush of a busy shift sometimes you neglect the things you normally wouldn’t — hopefully that worked in their favor tonight. “if anyone could figure out how to make a purse work tonight it’d be you. or at least a sparkly clutch or something.”

her eyes following along to tiana’s gesture, lottie nods a little. “yeah.. that’s true. and the waiters walkin’ around aren’t cardin’ anyone so it wouldn’t really be fair to do it at the bar,” she reasons, more so to reassure herself than her best friend. it wasn’t like it would be a big deal if they couldn’t get a drink, lottie more than capable of having fun without the help of alcohol - but that didn’t mean she didn’t want the extra buzz. “oh i had five purses that coulda worked. but it seemed silly to bring ‘em when i wasn’t gonna be carryin’ it around anyway. that’s the biggest downside to not havin’ a date, we ain’t got no one to hold our phones for us all night.”

Wendy had to appreciate Lottie’s insight into things like this. Her parents had thrown their own little parties here and there for her father’s company but bankers hardly partied in a castle. “I’ve heard that before, that’s why you can’t pull out all of the stops for the first party or else where would you go?” She’d always thought it had been a movie or a book thing - parties growing exceedingly extravagant only a work of fiction. Apparently not. “Shall we get a drink? Grab some food, maybe?”

“Exactly,” she agrees with a grin, nodding her head. It really was a bit ridiculous but it was the life Lottie had grown up in, so she was more than used to it by now. Not that she could imagine how much stronger the pressure must be on for the royal family to be bigger and better every year. It was why despite her love of throwing parties she’d never be an event coordinator - that was just too much stress for her to handle. “Probably both - we don’t wanna be gettin’ to crazy tonight, right? So we should probably put get some food in before we start drinkin’ too.”

“oh,” elsa smiles as lottie comes up to her immediately bringing up the fact that she had chosen not to wear a dress. slowly, she looks down at her green suit, small frown touching her features as she wonders if lottie didn’t like her outfit or thought she didn’t look good. “no, no. i just…wanted to wear a suit. i thought it looked nice.” she doesn’t verbalize that now she’s second guessing it. “oh, well thank you!” she smiles, though it doesn’t completely brighten up her face because she’s still worrying about whether or not lottie hates her outfit. “you look really pretty too!” there’s a brief pause as she thinks about what she says, quickly adding on “you always look real pretty, but your dress is so nice. where’d you get it?” 

seeing the frown on elsa’s face, lottie immediately feels bad for even bringing it up. it had just been a surprise, that was all - though really it shouldn’t have been. the blonde just has trouble understanding how anyone could have the chance to dress up fancy in a beautiful ballgown and then... pass on it. it was mind boggling to her, really. but if that’s what made elsa happy and comfortable, there was nothing wrong with it. “it does look nice! it looks beautiful - you look beautiful,” she compliments in a bit of a rush, genuinely meaning it and wanting to make sure the other girl knew it. “oh - tia’s mama made it for me! she’s been makin’ my dresses since i was just a lil girl.” and suits as well - but lottie wasn’t going to mention that, considering none of the ones she had worn had ever been by her own choice.

Roxanne has been coming to these new years parties for as long as she can remember, always excited to put on a fancy dress and spend the evening out on the dancefloor. As she walks through the party in search of drinks with Lottie, she already knows this will be the best year yet, her roommates having a habit of making everything better. “I can’t believe that anyone else here is even bothering to wear the colour pink,” Roxanne laughs softly as she looks around the room, taking in the sea of dresses that surround them. Everyone looks beautiful, no doubt about it, but her roommate definitely has them all beat and she can’t be convinced otherwise. “Don’t they know that pink is your colour?” // @eveningstarlottie​

Holding on to Roxanne’s arm as they roamed the ballroom, Lottie let out a little giggle at her roommate’s compliment. It was true, but she never would have been the one to say it out loud - not quite that vane. Though if it had been any of her close friends trying to wear a pink dress on a night like this, things would have been different, but Lottie couldn’t expect everyone else on the island to know not to compete with her. “They can wear whatever they want. It don’t matter who else’s wearin’ pink, I know I’ve got the best dress here. I made sure of it - imported the fabric from Milan straight to Tia’s mama and told the sellers not to let no one from Corona anywhere near it. Just to be sure.” Was it extra and beyond unnecessary? Absolutely. But that was Lottie.

it takes a moment for lottie to fully place who the girl she’s spent the past minute staring at was - so much about her seeming extremely familiar but the suit she’s wearing just throwing the blonde off. not for any valid reason because as soon as she realizes that it’s elsa, it all makes sense. but still she just hadn’t expected it. “you’re not wearin’ a dress,” she comments, a little dumbly as she approaches her friend. “you know, if ya needed someone to help you pick one out i woulda loved to go shoppin’ with ya.” there’s a pause as those words sink in and lottie quickly adds on. “you still look real pretty, though. the suit... fits ya - but a dress coulda been gorgeous too.” @elsafrankenteen​

“you don’t think they’re gonna wanna check our ids, do ya?” she asks, turning to look at her best friend. the two were waiting in line for drinks and as good as the blueberry ginger fizz sounded, lottie wanted something stronger. she had no real intentions of getting wasted at this event, but a nice little buzz was always fun. though if that bartender asked to see some form of identification she knew they’d both be screwed. “surely they gotta know no one’s carryin’ around a purse at this kind of event.” @tiasbeignets​

“Oh wow,” Wendy mused, pausing as she walked in with Lottie to take in the ballroom. Everything was immaculately decorated, she highly doubted she could describe a scene more wondrous than this in any story she wrote. “Somehow this is even more magical than last year.” She said, smile wide as she looked over in her roommates direction. // @eveningstarlottie​

Stopping besides her roommate, Lottie took a moment to just look around the ballroom. This was far from the first formal event she’s ever attended, having both been a guest at other’s parties as well as having thrown her own over the years - but never before had she been inside a castle for an event like this. “Oh, I bet. I wasn’t even here last year but I know how it goes. Ya gotta top yourself with each party,” she explains, grinning over at Wendy. “Honestly, it gets a little tirin’ after a few years.”

Wendy occupied another seat at the table, wrapping a large cardigan around her shoulders for warmth. They were pretty lucky to have made it home before all the power went out and the storm hit. And they knew they were all safe - that was an added bonus. Looking over at Roxanne as she brought in games, Wendy sat up in her chair, fingers wrapped around the warm cup of hot chocolate. “I think they’re written on the blocks…I’m up for Truth or Dare with or without Jenga. Or Clue? I haven’t played any of them in a long time.”

while her friends concern themselves with whatever game they’ll be playing tiana finds herself staring at her phone. looking down at the bright screen and trying to see it suddenly, miraculously, she gets service again isn’t the ideal way she wants to spend a night in with her roommates. but she can’t help it. she just needs to know if she’s still expected to work tomorrow — which, of course she would be. so, she completely misses the conclusion her friends come to without her, but it dawns on her that they’re waiting on her for something because silence hangs over them momentarily. “oh,” she looks up, smiling sheepishly at them. “i’m cool with whatever you guys want to play, as long as it’s not monopoly. too stressful and long.”

Taking her own seat at the table, Roxanne can’t help but laugh softly, unsure how each of her roommates managed to weigh in without actually making a decision. They’re nothing if not a house of soft spoken people pleasers, always wanting to make sure that they other is happy. “Why don’t we go with truth or dare jenga, then?” she offers, picking the game that seemed to have the most approval out of all of them. “I’m pretty sure the blocks are supposed to have questions on them, but we can always make up our own if they end up being lame.” She takes a sip of her hot chocolate, grateful that they managed to get it made before the power went out, before reaching for the box. Opening it carefully, she slides the box off the stack of blocks without managing to knock the tower over. “So who’s going first?”

As the game is decided and Roxanne sets it up, Lottie waits for one of the others to speak up and claim they wanted to go first. But unsurprisingly all the other girls are willing to sit back and let someone else take the lead - which Miss La Bouff has no problem doing. “I can go first,” she decides, setting her mug down on the table and leaning forward to inspect the tower of blocks. It’s been a long time since she’s played jenga - if she ever even has in the first place - but she’s seen enough videos of boybands and celebrities playing it during interviews to know what to do. Slowly pulling out one of the lower middle pieces, she reads it over and looks at all the girls with a grin. “Okay. Now y’all gotta pick - truth or dare?” @wcndybird​

wrapped up in one of her blankets, lottie flipped through all the options of christmas movies she and roxanne had added to their watchlist over the past few months. “ooh. what about this one?” she asks as she stops on a film and looks over at her roommate. “i don’t know what it’s about but look at that fella! he’s the handsomest one we’ve seen by far. that’s good enough for me.” @rcxannemartin

in theory lottie though this was amazing. building a snowman was a classic winter thing to do and now that she lived somewhere with enough snow to actually do it, she had been all on board. but in practice she was finding she wasn’t quite a fan. as her hands started to chill even through the gloves she had on and the wetness of the snow began to seem into her boots, all lottie wanted to do was return back inside. “what if we just make it a baby snowman?” she suggests, looking at the amount of snow they’ve already gathered up to form the bottom part of the body. “and then we go make some cocoa and get warmed up inside? maybe watch a movie or do somethin’ else?” @elsafrankenteen

“now sugar, there ain’t no thing as too festive,” lottie answers with a grin, looking over the boys outfit. of course - there was something as too tacky... but ron hadn’t quite crossed that line as far as she was concerned. it was just the right amount of cheesy without going too far. “you look great, don’t you worry.”

“Christmas is the only time of year when I’m stressed out AND receiving a bunch of gifts.” (tiana)

a little laugh escapes lottie before she can stop it as she wraps an arm around her best friend’s shoulder in a half hug. “now sweetheart, that ain’t true. you’re stressed all the time and i’m always givin’ ya gifts,” she points out, hoping that it might make the other girl smile just a bit. “but what ya stressin’ ‘bout today? anythin’ i can help ya with?” it’s a genuine offer, despite the fact that she knows whatever it is that’s got tiana worried she likely doesn’t really know how to help. but that won’t stop lottie from trying at least. @tiasbeignets

“Alright, so, hear me out….” Daisy paused, taking a sip of her latte before continuing to speak. “What if there was like…..a shop that people could have coffee but like….so can their dogs? Like little dog lattes and biscotti. It would be so cute. Do those exist already? I can’t remember….” she really hoped not. She was having  a bit of a dry spell with passion projects. “Alternatively. A miniature cafe that only sells tiny food. Like from real ovens…..And they are tiny and perfect. You know what, I think I like the mini cafe better. I could call it….something……” She paused again. “What do you think?”

The moment Daisy asked her to listen, Lottie was all ears. Setting her own latte down on the table between them and focusing entirely on the older girl. The first idea sounded a little familiar, but it wasn’t anything she could absolutely remember having seen before. Maybe it hadn’t been dogs per say… but there was definitely something that already existed along those lines. She’d have to ask Tiana later, her best friend always knew more about food and restaurant trends than she did. “The mini cafe is much better,” she agrees eagerly once Daisy decides to go for the second idea. “And I bet makin’ mini food is a lot easier than makin’ regular sized stuff! So it’ll be even easier to find staff. Ooh. I could see if Tia has any good recipes that you could start experimentin’ with. Unless you wanna use your own. Or hire someone to come up with new stuff. Though if you do that, you really should hire her, she’s the best cook in all of New Orleans and probably on the island now too.”
