Taking his arm, Anne couldn’t help the tremor that ran through her. The last time they had ascended these stairs had been disastrous. This was no place for her kind, especially on the arm of someone like Philip Carlyle.

To him Anne was absolutely beautiful no matter what she was wearing, though Phillip had to admit that he loved seeing her at the circus the most. It was the place she was in her element most and there was just something about that he couldn´t quite put his finger on. But he was enjoying it.
