The Challenges of Parenting a Child with RAD

What Happened to Beth ’Child of Rage’ Thomas?
Child of Rage: A Story of Abuse is one of the most shocking and quite disturbing documentaries ever made for television. It shows the actual therapy tapes of clinical psychologist Dr. Ken Magid talking with Beth Thomas, who suffered from reactive attachment disorder as a result of being sexually abused as a child.
Beth is now Registered Nurse at a hospital in Flagstaff.
Just RAD Things
Fantasizing about getting into fights with the people I care about so they’ll blow up at me and finally say how they really feel about me.
I think one of the worst parts of finding out I have RAD is
now that I know I have it, I wanna tell the people I DO feel close with about it, so they can understand me better and support me. The problem with that? The RAD is making me believe wholeheartedly that as soon as they know about this and ESPECIALLY know how bad my symptoms might be, that they’ll become scared of having any sort of relationship with me, and bail on being my friend.
It’s a never-ending cycle of mental torture
I love you (I think)
A person with RAD, just hoping that they’re feeling the right feeling, if any feeling at all (aka my daily life) :/ (via r41nb0w-v0m1t)
How it feels:
If I had to summarize in one sentence how living with RAD feels like for me it would be “suffering from every mental illness all at once and feeling as though there is no way to control it”. Scary stuff.
