Rick Cosnett has got to have one of the coolest post-The Vampire Diaries careers as any recurring actor on this show. (And we’re counting Brady The Werewolf actor Stephen Amell in that statement.) Since biting it as evil vampire-experimenting scientist Dr. Wes on TVD in Season 5, Rick has gone onto star as Eddie Thawne on CW’s highest rated drama of all time, The Flash. But we may be even more excited about Eddie’s next project: The O.C. musical.

Cue “California.” Our favorite early-naughts teen drama is making a comeback — as a musical! The stage performance will be a one-night only event, on August 30th in Los Angeles. Which important role will Rick be taking on? That would be Sandy Cohen, aka Seth’s cool surfer lawyer dad. Yeah, we can see it. Check out the tweet from the musical’s official Twitter handle…

“’He’s a kid. Who has no one and nowhere to go!’ @CW_TheFlash’s @RickCosnett is Sandy Cohen!” The O.C. Musical Twitter handle tweeted yesterday, fulfilling a dream we didn’t even realize we had until now. (Actually, that’s pretty much this entire production.) We already knew Rick had an amazing voice because of this amazing video of The Flash’s Rick, Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco) singing “The Ballad of Serenity” to thank Joss Whedon for his support of their Kickstarter project. Um, on a related note: Can we do the Firefly musical next? Thanks in advance!

The O.C. musical is very much in its planning stages, so we still have a lot of unanswered questions. According to Variety, the production will be adapted and directed by Jordan Ross and comes from the same company that gifted the universe Cruel Intentions: The Musical. In addition to Sandy’s role, the roles of Luke Ward, Kirsten Cohen, and series creator Josh Schwartz have all been cast.
