Despite being a heterosexual relationship, Anakin and Padmé's relationship resonates with a lot of queer themes. I love a mushy gushy force ghost reunion but I need one where death has not stopped obi-wan from being obi-wan and, after the see luke, ghosti-wan avoids ghostakin like the plague. Like anakin turning back to the light sort of completely shatters the reality he has built for himself for 25 years where he was right to not try to get through to anakin. like he just told someone to murder his brotherson and that said brotherson repenting could never happen because said brotherson was gone and lost. And then damn luke brings brotherson back with like a few hours of less than quality time together and loving words. obi-wan kenobi spent the last 25 years of both his life and afterlife not believing padme naberrie’s dying words. Building his own reality and life around the fact that her dying words were not true. and wtf she was right!!!!

Anyways that all sounds more serious than i mean this i mostly meant ghost anakin constantly trying to find obi-wan and obi-wan using his ghostiness to disappear and avoid. i like the idea of ghosts appearing and disappearing like that its fun.

Along with this yall should know that i have created my own internal force ghost lore that allows padme to be a ghost (basically the “force”) distinctions is just who can appear to living beings) and she has been looking over ani and waiting for obi-wan to die to fight him. it always sticks with me that palpatine does not *need* anakin. he doesn’t need another attack dog, he doesn’t need him as his apprentice. It’s certainly easier with the chosen one by his side BUT one of Palpatine’s core traits is he does NOT care about what is easiest. Palpatine WANTED to have this enormously powerful man kneel at his feet. Palpatine spent years meeting with a teen boy in secret (which, beyond the morality of it, just doesn’t sound like a fun time) so that he could have his murderboy trophy(literally)wife sonbot monster toy.

Like very neutral to positive? With all obi-wan ships I am of the opinion that obi-wan having an active, ongoing fling or relationship kind of serves to cheapen the tension of the prequel trilogy. I haven’t seen tcw in full since I was a child so my thoughts on the character dynamics are not super fleshed out. HOWEVER i am very interested in the rich internal world that is obi-wan’s adhesion to the code, craving of connection, and avoidant tendencies. It’s such a yummy combination in his platonic relationships (my main fixation, obvi) and romantic. I love the Obitine exploration of duty vs personal fulfillment (from both parties) always and love when people explore similar threads with codywan

With codywan specifically, there are SO many talented codywan writers and artists. I am always interested to read from people really invested in the ship and how they tackle the issues of personhood and power imbalance. I like other people navigating it but i am not invested enough to care on my own tbh

With obitine specifically, i am very fond of satine and her existence as a woman in star wars….love women i wish there were more of them in star wars. Especially ones that don’t die lol.

Overall, interesting. There are s lot of talented people creating content that i enjoy but i am not super invested personally beyond the connection to obi-wan and anakins relationship (since that is always my main interest lolllll)

Genuinely and generally I am not against exploring dark themes in media* BUT i do think there is something verrrrrry revealing about the genre of star wars fanfic that is Older Jedi Master Anakin grooming/sexually abusing (idgaf if thats what it’s intended to be) a Young Padawan Obi-Wan. Honestly same as most fics where Palpatine is grooming Obi-Wan. I was just looking to read some rots psychological fic featuring the very cannon grooming element in Star Wars. But instead I found out how wildly popular these tropes are.

I just think there is a lot for be read into there about the need for a perfect victim, even if the person claims they want a “complex narrative”. Like no you want your perfectly pure innocent uwu baby to be hurt by a Bad Man. That’s not a complex narrative. That’s actually kind of the opposite.

I do genuinely get really annoyed by people who act like these character choices do not reflect broader societal issues and values. Like no I think this does actually mean something regarding how we see victimhood, survivors, and OBVIOUSLY gender.
