Here is a quick preview of the Evoland 2 Artbook!
The Evoland 2 Card Game
Here is the Evoland 2 card game!
Do you want to become the new Master of Cards? Find the best players in the most remote corners of the world, discover the many hidden cards and prove you are the best in the world!
Only 27 days left before the release of Evoland 2: A slight case of spacetime continuum disorder! Are you ready to live this epic adventure through time?
Here is a (very) 80s' style poster for Evoland 2, we hope you'll enjoy it!
Places of Note: The Mine
Here is the Mine, a very important place in Evoland 2. As often, you'll have the opportunity to visit it during different eras.
During the past this mine shelters an impressive forge where a mysterious and legendary blacksmith is at work. He doesn't seem ready to help our hero just yet... He's building only weapons of high quality with rare materials!
Different atmosphere: In the present era, while Genovians are about to celebrate the victory of the Empire over the Demons, everything is not well in the world ... Surviving Demons have been taken into slavery and thrown in the Mine. All day long, under the surveillance of Empire soldiers, they toil in search of rare minerals that will make the Empire even richer.
In the future era, the Prophet has taken possession of the Mine and used it to build a huge Pyramid of metal. The members of this new and scary cult, marked by the sign of the eye, are watching over this unnatural construction. But what could it possibly hide?
The Powers System
We have already revealed the different hero's allies and their different powers. Menos can smash things, Fina can manipulate nature and Velvet can freeze her enemies ... Obviously, these powers are all usable in the different combat phases, but that's not all!
You will also be able to use these powers in all of the gameplays! For example, Velvet will be able to freeze monsters during real-time combat, but also during turn-based battles, Shoot'em Up, Puzzle Quest and many more!
Here are a few gifs and screenshots of this power in the different gameplays. We'll let you discover Fina's and Menos' powers in the game!
You have seen a lot of gameplay of Evoland 2, in the trailer and eslewhere. But the game is also a real, deep RPG!
Inventory management, skills gain and level up, purchase of (sometimes) strange items and (usually) powerful weapons, funny yet deep storyline... Evoland 2 has all of this, and it is meaningful through all the gameplays!
Places of Note : The Great Library of Genova
The Great Library of Genova is the focal point of the Capital. This important building is the pride of Genovians, for the knowledge it harbors as well as its architectural beauty (although experts agree that pixels don't do it justice). Nobody really knows when it was created but it is probably the fruit of a Civilization now disappeared. Our heroes will have several opportunities to visit the Library and see its evolution along different eras!
During the past, the Great Library of Genova has been requisitioned by the Sorcerers. It's an era marked by war and hardships. Nobody knows what is happening in the building but every Genovian has its own version of it:
"I have no doubt that the Sorcerers are using the Library to take part to the war effort. I wouldn't be surprised if they were building some wildfire or other destructive chemical and magical weapons" said Tyrionnus the Small. "There Sorcerers are annoying! I can't go to the Library to read my favorite comics anymore ..." added Elizabeth, 8 years of age.
In present times, the Great Library is in its "Golden Age". It is a symbol of the prosperity of the times and the meeting location of all intellectuals of the Empire. Velvet, the famous archaeologist and historian of the Magi civilization, is one of the prominent members of the Great Library. Her sudden disappearance in an expedition was a very sad day for the institution.
In the future era, the Great Library is an aging institution, very academic and not really innovative. A lot of students are following classes offered by the dean and his acolytes. To validate their exams, they have to pass the different riddles and puzzles developed by a famous professor wearing a top hat. Our hero will probably have to go through this if he wants to discover the secrets of Magi Civilization...
Velvet
Velvet is our hero's third acolyte. Experienced explorer and archeologist of high repute, she's more than willing to put her life in danger in her search for antique artifacts. Especially when they belong in a museum!
Velvet is also THE reference on Magi Civilization. Her volumes are available in the Great Library of Genova and she is a crucial element in our hero's fellowship when it comes to understanding Magi artifacts and history.
In a true Lara Croft fashion (she will not abuse QTEs, we swear), Velvet also knows how to fight. The Book of Frost, an ancient relic she discovered in mysterious circumstances provides her with extraordinary powers, like freezing water or even her enemies. And when all else fails, the good old bash on the head will always prove that the pen is mightier than the sword...
Places Of Note : Genova, the capital of the Empire
Big Cities are always the throbbing heart of countries. They are places of cultural display, great emulation and economic activities. Genova, the capital of the Empire is no exception of the rule.
From the little farming town, constructed by traders and hunters, Genova became an important city by the late 800's and eventually the capital of the Empire early in the next century. It is composed of military buildings, big luxurious houses, some more modest housing, and cultural institutions like the world renown Great Library. Genovians are also known as foodies, enjoying fine establishments like the Wok Danold's ("the best Genova has to offer!", which is an interesting statement).
Our heroes will spend a lot of time in Genova. They will have the opportunity to rest while enjoying the inn, to work(!), to buy new weapons and participate to other ancillary activities. But soon, they will realize that this capital has changed a lot with the passage of the years. During a past marked by the terrible war between the Empire and the Demons, Genova lived to the rhythm of curfew and patrols of imperial soldiers. It was considered an impenetrable fortress. In present times, the city is celebrating the centenary of the Empire's victory against Demons. The atmosphere is gentle and cavalier, it is time for spring love and Genovians have never been happier. But is it too good to be true? What happened with the Demons? Are there any survivors? As a great white wizard said to a little man, from the big wall of a known city, "it is the calm before the storm...". Indeed, in the future, the situation does not look so good. Something is rotten in the state of Evoland. A terrible catastrophe took place. An irritating and stinking fog is everywhere. We don't know its scientific name but Genovians call it the "Slag". Ever resourceful, they managed to use it as a new energy source. The powers in place have also changed ... New businessmen have benefited from this energy, while new cults have appeared. Who are these strange hooded shadows, marked with the sign of the Eye, skulking in the city?
The Exogarth
For all of geek fans, we've created a D&D (5ed, pdf format) Monster sheet for the Exogarth, a gigantic creature you will meet in Evoland 2. Feel free to use it if you need epicness in Dungeons and Dragons campaign! Please download it here: http://shirogames.com/file/exogarth.pdf
The Exogarth (this one is not a space slug) is half mechanical and half organic and it can use its countless eyes to watch over a mysterious machine...
Paradoxes of Time Travel
What is time? Is there a beginning and an end? Is it a cycle? Can there be space or matter without time and causality? Is it just an intellectual construct of the human mind? Would Chuck Berry have written Johnny B. Goode if Marty McFly hadn't travelled through time to inspire him (with his own future song)?
The very concept of time seems partly beyond human comprehension, especially when it comes to time travel and the mandatory paradoxes that come with it. As a player of Evoland 2, you will encounter a number of paradoxes and you will have to disentangle their consequences to get a clear(ish) picture of what's happening.
In Evoland 2, these paradoxes are as many opportunities to play with the flow of time and the strange changes it can bring, as always, with a lot of references to classic video games and geek culture in general.
The World
The world of Evoland 2 is as rich and beautiful as it is terrifying and mysterious.
You will have to travel through different environments to find your purpose, from deep forests to high mountains, from big cities to remote villages, from gloomy sewers to frozen wastelands or from magic islands to dark catacombs. Good thing you'll have a boat and even a flying machine! Travelling through these areas, you will meet a lot of strange creatures and locals with their own stories.
Will you unearth the whole story of this strange world?
Places of Note: The Ghost Forest
The Ghost Forest has changed a lot with the passage of the years.
In the past it was haunted by ghosts and creatures all strange and terrifying. In the future it seems to have found peace (apart from the mysterious presence of smugglers). But is it just in apparence? A legendary creature still watches over the catacombs with its access located at the middle of this tormented forest...
Will Fina, Menos and our hero have the courage to enter this strange and dangerous place ?
Menos
The fearsome leader of the Demon armies is another of our hero's companions. Torn from his roots through accidental time travel, he has a hard time adjusting to the peace of the present times. The fact that everyone seems to be preparing celebrations for the anniversary of his defeat doesn't really help either...
Hopefully his new friends will help him find out what happened to his son, his people and his legacy.
The Flying Machine
We had to change the design of the Wing to improve the collisions and gameplay of the shoot'em up. Here are the new concepts and the final(ish) in game version of the new Flying Machine.
Places of Note: Seera Harbor
From its humble beginnings as a mere fishing hut, Seera became a bustling harbor in just a few decades and, well, a bit a shady place soon after that. In any case, it is a great place to gather information and travel to distant and mysterious islands!
Fina
Fina is one of our hero's companions. Daughter of Finrost, the village's chief, she's been described by her neighbors as stubborn, ill-behaved, irritable but also strangely sweet sometimes (all of which she denies vigorously).
Like her mother, she has powers over nature that she does not fully understand. Maybe a closer look at the family tree would help...
