"I don’t like people experimenting on me."
"I do not intend to experiment on you, I intend to correct your flaws with proven methods."
"Experiment."
"You do not understand the meaning of the word."
"I don’t like people experimenting on me."
"I do not intend to experiment on you, I intend to correct your flaws with proven methods."
"You’re not touching me."
"No? I am only trying to enhance you. You should be honored that you have caught my attention."
"You are a breathtaking specimen of science, my dear. The scientists of the Soviet Union were genius in their modifications of you, but I see some flaws. If you would permit me, Natalia Romanova, I can correct a few of their mistakes for you."
"Wrong turn?"
"...you cannot be serious."

"Naturally. You are intelligent and Adam would not want me to hide anything from you."
He turned away to look at his controls and typed in a sequence of commands.
"Relax, Peter Quill, I am just doing preliminary scans at the moment."
"Relax? Around you? I know you don’t think much of me, but I’m not that naive.”
"Your paranoia is undeserved. I would not do anything that would harm my son indirectly."
"I am aware of my reputation, but it is grossly exaggerated. I have already given you my word that I will not add any improvements on you that you do not want."

"Changes will be discussed after the proper examination, Mr. Quill. Unlike lesser scientists, I do not skip any step in my procedures.” He gestured for the hybrid to take a step onto his examination platform.
"Stand still and ignore Adam. His opinions are irrelevant for the next hour."
"You’ll tell me everything you find out?" Peter stepped onto the platform, turning to face the High Evolutionary.
"Naturally. You are intelligent and Adam would not want me to hide anything from you."
He turned away to look at his controls and typed in a sequence of commands.
"Relax, Peter Quill, I am just doing preliminary scans at the moment."
"Jonathan Storm. You come here on your own volition?"
"I— no— actually?"
"Then explain yourself."
"My mind is not narrow, but your willful ignorance proves that your mind is as closed as any other Spartoi I’ve encountered.” His voice was deceptively calm, despite his impatience with J’son.
"Adam sees the imperfections in your son, but he does not speak them. He is a gentle soul, who would rather harm himself than others. If you cannot stand my son, it is because he intimidates you.”
"Intimidates me?" J’Son scoffed. "He infuriates me because he thinks he owns my child." He may’ve been exaggerating.
"Do not make the same mistake as him. Do not touch my son as if he’s some clay you can mold."
"Adam knows better than to claim ownership of your son. You exaggerate."
"And are you speaking of Adam or of yourself?"

"With your permission, yes." There was no need to hide his excitement. He was the High Evolutionary and he could have cared less for his subject’s emotional comfort. Emotions were irrelevant.
"Do you have any questions before we begin?"
"No questions." Peter walked closer. "Just a reminder: No killing, no maiming, no permanent changes, or anything like that, without my permission." He glanced over at Adam, winced, then looked back. "And Adam’s, of course." Peter wasn’t very good at saying ‘no’ when it came to making changes to himself, but this time he didn’t have to be making any decisions on his own.

Investigation || Peter & the High Evolutionary

The High Evolutionary had been waiting for the return of his son and one Peter Quill. Over short messages, the appointment had been arranged and his fingers itchedto examine the infamous Spartoi hybrid. It was a minor setback that Adam would object to some of his tests, but something was better than nothing at all.
He stood, his back to he entrance, as his new men guided his honored guests into the deep recesses of his laboratory. It was only when his assistants disappeared that he deigned to turn around.
"Welcome, Adam my son," he greeted first, a smile stretching over his metallic face. His eyes then fell on his main subject of the day and if possible, his smile broadened.
"And you as well, Peter Quill."
The smile was disturbing. Very disturbing. The sort of smile that would normally have Peter turning and walking away. But not only did he want on the guy’s good side, but there were also some questions he’d like answered.
"Thanks for having me."
"Are we going to be starting the tests right away?"
"With your permission, yes." There was no need to hide his excitement. He was the High Evolutionary and he could have cared less for his subject's emotional comfort. Emotions were irrelevant.

Investigation || Peter & the High Evolutionary
Peter stepped out of his ship, relieved to have Adam at his back. He wasn’t scared of the High Evolutionary, he’d faced worse, but he was nervous. He’d never really approve of Peter, but he didn’t want Adam’s father actively working against them, the way his father was. When they reached the High Evolutionary, Peter had already worked through what he was going to say a half dozen times. Instead, he waited for him to speak, figuring a guy like that would like to hear himself talk.

"Is heroism and a blood legacy supposed to impress me? He is a sometime savior that has done more harm than good." The High Evolutionary looked away, his attention diverted to his scanner.
"Your son does not deserve the best, but he does have it for the moment. That will change soon."
J’Son couldn’t help but feel some sympathy at his son being called a savior who does harm. He could understand that.
"My son deserves everything. Except perhaps the agony of listening to such narrow-minded commentary on what is perfect and what is not. Warlock doesn’t berate him with his supposed ‘imperfection’ does he? If so, no wonder I can’t stand the man."
