Hi everyone, 

It's been brilliant year serving all of you in the Singapore Society through our various events and excursions that we've held both in Singapore and in the UK!

However, it's time for us to bid farewell to all of you and pass the baton on to a next group of equally, if not more, talented individuals who strive to bring our society to even greater heights. 

Below are the names of the candidates running, along with their manifestos and course of study in Exeter. 

Even if you're not running, we would strongly encourage you to come for our AGM to both sit in and listen to the candidates' riveting speeches, and vote for the next committee who will essentially be running the Singapore Society for the next year!

恭喜发财！

Instead of our usual CNY get together at a restaurant, the committee decided to do something different this year by throwing our annual dinner at the Kitchen Terrace instead - this was in hope of providing a more homely experience for all our members, to truly embrace the 团圆饭 spirit. 

Despite the casual setting this year, the society catered a variety of Chinese dishes ranging from steamed fish to the all-essential yu sheng! We had an overwhelming turn out of more than 80 people, and truly hope that everyone had an enjoyable time :) 

Before we end off this post, from all of us in the committee, we'd like to extend a very warm and festive greeting to everyone; Happy Chinese New Year, guys! 大家，新年快乐！祝你们学业进步！

Fancy Schmancy Christmas Ball 2014

After months of planning and hard work, the committee is proud to present it's biggest event yet - the inaugural Christmas Ball 2014! 

We sincerely hope that everyone had as much fun as we did. Pictures from the spectacular event are now up on our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/exetersingsoc/?fref=ts). 

In the spirit of Christmas, the committee will be giving away a FREE printed copy of any picture of your liking (with subsequent copies at only 50p each). If you want a printed copy, simply comment on the photo of your choice (on the FB album) and let us know how many copies you'd like.

Also, as this is our last event for the year 2014, from all of us at the committee, we'd like to wish all our members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

A huge thanks to everyone who made our first ever MAKAN NIGHT a success! 

We hope everyone had fun and was stuffed from savouring some of your favourite local foods, albeit the temperatures dipping to 9 degC yesterday night. 

If there's anything you feel that we can improve on, please don't hesitate to inform us via our Feedback page (with an option to remain anonymous), and we promise to work on it for both the subsequent Makan Nights, and other events. Because after all, we aim to build a family abroad, and what better way to improve than by the people who made yesterday's success possible :)

Walkabout Tourt + Pizza Buffet

Hey guys! 

As freshers week comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone for the amazing turnout at the Walkabout tour cum pizza buffet last Wednesday! 

We hope that everyone had as much fun as we had during our first get-together in the UK! 

All the best as you guys get ready for the first day of uni tomorrow (don't worry we're dreading studying as much as you are)! 

Also, we've a whooping 100+ new members from the Activities Fair yesterday (Sat)! We are insanely psyched for the term ahead, with more activities and gatherings in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned!

UKBound 2014

Whaddup guys! If you fancy an evening of chilling with old and new friends either from Exeter or from any university in the UK, then head on down to UKBound (organised by the UKSSC) at Zouk on 5th Sept for a night of fun, with beauty pageants (contestants deriving from your fellow students in uk), game shows and much much more!!

From now till Aug 20, Exeter Sing Soc has managed to clinch a special early bird discount for members, with tickets going at only $20 (UP: $23/25). Interested? Then simply contact any of our committee members to sign up.

The BBQ marked the committee's first official event in Singapore since the baton was passed earlier in March '14. 

With an overwhelming response of more than 70 freshers and members showing up, it was an amazing night of food and drinks.

It was also the first time the committee got to meet the freshers on a more personal level - away from the formality imposed at the Pre Departure talk in July.

We hoped that everyone had as much fun as we did at the BBQ, and we're now more excited than ever for Freshers' Week to come because judging from the energy present yesterday, you lot are going to be an awesome bunch! ;)

Hi! who can i contact in Singapore if I'm an incoming freshman wanting to join Exeter SingSoc!

Hello, you can contact any one of the committee members for help (details on our 'current committee' tab). We are currently in UK, but will be back in Singapore from June-Sept. 

If you're going to the Uni of Exeter, there will be a pre-departure talk held by the university on 11 July. The committee will also be there to answer all queries as well as take in new members.

New Membership Cards

Hi everyone, we hope your Easter break is going great! 

First off, many thanks to everyone who voted for your favourite card design on our Facebook group earlier this year. 

This is the new membership card that got voted most popular by you! 

The committee is now hard at work getting your chosen design printed in plastic (for the first time in SingSoc history) in time for Freshers week this coming September! 

We also have a ton of fresh and new events and ideas planned for the years 2014/15, along with many new and existing discounts from your favourite shops/cafes/restaurants in Exeter and beyond. 

All new updates will be posted on our Tumblr page accordingly, so come back regularly to keep yourself updated on the latest happenings in the society. 

Last, but definitely not least, all the best to everyone who have Finals coming up in a few weeks - may the odds be ever in your favour! 

And of course, congratulations to the INTO students on having successfully completed their exams.

Introduction to the new SingSoc committee of 2013-2014

In a blink of an eye, another year has passed and the AGM (2013) marked a year of growth and the laying of a cornerstone through the partnerships we have formed, events and socials that has been organized as well as the building of a communications system – all of which pivotal towards gearing this society to that of being more unified and informed.

But it is also the time of the year where our society undergoes a change in leadership and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the committee which you have all voted for the year 2013/14:

My committee and I would not only like to express our gratitude towards the previous committee – Justin, Vanessa, Nicholas, Yasmin, Andrew, Arielle and Isaac for having done a marvelous job but also to everyone else who has supported us in one way or another.

2013/14 will be a year of expansion, with efforts directed to welcoming International Students into our society, integrating Singaporeans and Non-Singaporeans together along with the diverse experiences and culture that each of us bring to the table. Not only that, my committee and I will be dedicated in cultivating an ecosystem where every member has the opportunity to foster closer bonds with each other, making this society a place where every member will be happy to call “a home away from home”.

My committee and I are excited to be part of a team where we can serve you all in the upcoming year. We believe that with our passion and hard work, combined with your encouragement and support through participating in the many socials and events that we will be organizing, can we give you all a fun, meaningful and most importantly, memorable year here in Exeter.
