an excuse to draw john marston ass/legs ok byeeee
how kind of john to participate despite his injuries
Going bald would genuinely be the worst thing to happen to him
I keep seeing the same takes about why willscuella is not shipped more and they go on about him being misunderstood and shit and they NEVER mention that people might also be uncomfortable bc Javier is a man of color and Bill a racistšš I keep seeing this take, now with someone making a post about how underappreciated it is and another shipper responding to it at length and it pisses me off so fucking bad when people misrepresent the reasons why people feel iffy about some ships. No, it's not just Bill not being conventionally attractive. And no, idc that much if they like him. But to boil it down to "people just won't appreciate the ship bc they think bill is ugly and want to pair javier with someone conventionally attractive :(" shut the fuck up. Sure Bill would have more ppl who like him if they made him attractive but not me tho. Not everyone. Still wouldn't ship a racist and the target of that racism. I wish ppl would acknowledge this instead of whining about how people hate on the ship just bc one man is ugly.
I don't even care that much if people ship it. I mean, I think it's gross but people can do what they like. But what makes me SO mad is when people completely misrepresent the other side and blindly ignore such a glaring reason and make them sound like assholes for "underappreciating" a ship bc "javi is attractive bill is not :(". I doubt people would get so iffy about willscuella if it wasn't for the damn racism, even if it would be a rarepair still. Maybe they still wouldn't ship it BUT i don't think they would be so against it either. The racism IS a big issue with a ship like this but those people like to put on a blindfold when it comes to that.
Reminds me of people who misrepresent people who dislike morston. They say shit like "they are puritans who don't like an 10 year age gap between adults" and "oh nooo poor john getting groomed at 26" to mock people. They act like people dislike a 26-year old and 36-year old being together when it's not the age gap itself it's the damn context behind it where one of them was a c h i l d when they metš it grinds my gears so much when they act like THAT is the reason and make us sound stupid and ignore the fact that in fact the problem for 99,9 % people is their familial relationship and John being a child when they met and Arthur witnessing him growing up. It's the same case with those willscuella shippers who refuse to acknowledge that people are uncomfortable shipping a racist and the target of that racism and act like it's all about bill being ugly
I'm sorry for this huge rant I just need to get this off my chest and I figured you'd agreeš I'm a little scaredy cat as well and don't have the headspace to argue with people on my blog at the moment lmao
don't apologise, I agree honestly. what's crazy to me is the argument that willscuella is only disliked because bill is not conventionally attractive bc like, minus the balding on top he sort of IS conventionally attractive. He's a big buff bearded white man, that's not exactly the most shunned demographic in the world of dating. people are gonna ship what they're gonna ship ofc but it's fundamentally incorrect to say people don't like willscuella because of some made up gripe about bill being ugly. people who don't like willscuella don't like it because it's a racist x a man of colour. a man of colour who is directly targeted by that racist. they may end up on the same side in the last chapter but that is only because javier chooses to keep trusting dutch. I certainly won't accept anyone claiming willscuella is only disliked because of aesthetics bc I'm speaking as a fully unironic strauss x swanson shipper who hates willscuella sjgjgkhk
sketches from the latest expedition, two days spent in the old quarries searching for CarboniferousĀ plants. +35C during day, the loudest ever thunderstorm during the night (sleeping in a tent in the middle of that storm near the water was kinda insane). physically it was a challenge, but i'm so glad i didn't stay home last weekend. best way to spend a few days after b-day<3 and FINALLY i've heard the Eurasian golden oriole!! they're so sneaky

Happy Stitch Day, everyone donate to the NICWA out of apology that we let the reboot gain any kind of traction
The National Indian Child Welfare Association is an organization working to protect indigenous children and families through education and advocacy on child welfare and kinship rights. Nobody gets left behind.
Gonna copy-paste what I put into the Dual Process Theory YouTube community post, just in case anyone is blissfully ignorant of what's been going on in the Disney community:
The National Indian Child Welfare Association is an organization working to protect indigenous children and families through education and advocacy on child welfare and kinship rights. The original Lilo & Stitch is very relevant to the ICWA as it shows a US government agent attempting to separate an indigenous woman from her child ward to put her into the care of the state, something that has happened and continues to happen to indigenous children. Nani's "Aloha 'Oe" scene was added as a way to parallel their situation with the colonization of Hawai'i; the original song was written by the last Queen of Hawai'i as the United States forced her to cede her ancestral lands to them, which they then proceeded to colonize and commercialize. Nani is unable to find a job due to the tourism business taking over her land and Lilo is objectified enough to mirror the behavior (taking photos of white tourists rather than white tourists taking photos of her) and gets removed from her traditional dance because of a rich white or white-passing bully.
The original movie is subtle in its messaging but very clear if you know anything about Hawai'ian history, and the movie ending with 'ohana being kept and Nani being able to keep her sister, who she loves, because she now has a support system who can assist her in her own shortcomings is presented as a happy ending for everyone, and the ideal community that we should strive for.
The reboot, if you haven't seen it, has Nani (played by an actress whose mother is a Hawai'i realtor) literally look Lilo in the eye and tell her that 'ohana is a fantasy that can never be reality and that their parents abandoned them by dying. She AND the film see Lilo as a burden on her that is alleviated when she gives up custody and goes to the mainland for college. Why not have her go to a Hawai'ian college, or do classes online while staying with her sister? Because they didn't think about her actually caring for and loving her sister. They thought about how she should go pursue the generic American Dream, and this neurodivergent traumatized child should be passed off to someone else. They literally have an indigenous CPS agent tell her to do this. Her happy ending is giving up custody of her sister to a neighbor and going to a white-dominated university.
Even the non-indigenous characters get removed from the 'ohana, as Jumba is now solely evil and irredeemable and serves as the final antagonist instead of Gantu, which also provides the wonderful(/s) message that criminals cannot be redeemed and government agents are never wrong. The reboot looks at you and tells you that family means nothing and indigenous people should give up their children and culture and assimilate. The director literally said in an interview, "Some people get left behind."
All this to say, we're definitely donating to the NICWA today. They fight to protect the Indian Child Welfare Act that prevents indigenous children from being kidnapped away from their cultures and assist indigenous families in protecting and caring for each other.
Nobody gets left behind.
Guess what just got a sequel announced. Everyone donate AGAIN
