Have you seen this movie yet? It's called Grave of the fireflies. If there's one animated movie I'd like to recommend to you, it's this one. 33 years ago the amazing Isao Takahata created this movie. It moved me to the core. I never had to cry while watching an animated movie... but this one got me over and over again This is one of the gems in the film industry. I'm glad I was finally able to create an ode for this unique film, which has been on my wish list for a long time. One of the most beautiful feelings creating your own artwork can give you is having that feeling over and over: "Wow, did I just create that?!" That sense of pride gives your soul so much satisfaction. Not only is creating your own artwork wonderfully therapeutic while you work on it. It is also the feeling that you have created something all by yourself that has your own stamp on it. It's your own fingerprint that you eventually leave behind when your own story is out For me personally, I still think it's great to honor my own childhood heroes such as Hayao Miyazaki and the Walt Disney team. I just love to walk around in the fantasies that have come out of their legacy and gave me the huge appreciation for animation. "You can rip and steal my heart out of my body, suffocate me, poison me.. but whatever you do, I will remain immortal forever." This has long been a thought I had on my favorite fairy tale. Recently I read a great adaptation of this story from the wonderful Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite writers. It is a short story about Snow White, which he called Snow, Glass, Apples. I was thrilled to see how much it matched my strange take on the fairytale. An absolute must read! This drawing is my adaptation to his, and Disney's take on the story. I think, for many, this movie was the first to teach many about the concept of death. I thought it was so shocking then and was so in tears that I might have watched the movie twice in my childhood. When I revisited the film in my adult life, what struck me most was that the surroundings are so lovely drawn. The scenery in Bambi is truly beautiful. While Lady and the Tramp may not rank as one of Disney's greatest animated works, it still makes for a charming experience thanks to its memorable and entertaining characters and gorgeous animation.
