hello i want to buy an aa authentic tennus skirt but im really scared it's fake. the tag & washing label look exactly like the real one though :( could i send you the pics for some advice ?

hi! I think the photos we provided are the best we can do in showing the differences between a real one and a fake one (mostly the tag). our judgement would be based on those photos. ur best bet is to buy from the actual store or from an official distributor of AA if u do not want to receive a non-genuine product!!

That’s the exact link I bought from. You’ll probably find more suitable sellers if you’re not from Australia because that’s that Australian eBay. The shipping takes forever (they offered me a refund since it was taking so long) but it eventually came and I guess it’s worth the money saved. Good luck :-)

hello i have a question, how did you take off 4 to 5 cm on the tennis skirts in / post / 105073950725 / american-apparel-tennis-skirt-real-vs-dupe ? im usually a small but decided to get a larger for length, thank you!! ^^

hihi :) nothing fancy– I just moved the button over so that it’ll hug me tighter. it folds over a little around the zip but it’s only like one pleat so it goes pretty much unnoticed. it doesn’t take much skill and time to fasten the button by hand. hope this helps!! 

somebody teach me how to put pockets into skirts though tbh

RB3016 a.k.a Ray Ban Folding Club Masters

So after many years of longing and the off chance that I did end up meeting a decent guy, my boyfriend decided to buy me the specs I have yearned for for years: the Folding Club Masters in Tortoise.

It arrived in simple classic, Ray Ban packaging. There is hardly a need for much fan-fare or introduction when you’re dealing with a brand like Ray Ban. I also really liked that the packaging was not superfluous. I really dislike it when companies package their goods in a box 5 times bigger than the actual product itself, leaving so much cardboard and often plastic to rot in landfill.

The grey box encased the sunglasses case itself. The case resembled a black leather version of a deck case that people used to use to house their yu-gi-oh decks. Remember them? Or a shirt pocket. It’s simple and again, minimal. Inside there is a cleaning cloth and the beautiful specimen itself.

Upon unfolding the glasses, I spent a good 5 minutes just admiring them. They were exactly what I wanted. What really sold me on the folding set as opposed to the regular club masters was the gold detailing on sides of the sunglasses. The club masters came in the Green Classic G-15 lens which was originally developed for military use, offers high level of clarity and a more natural vision as described on the Ray Ban website.

All in all, the folding club masters are a stylish and an undoubtedly cool accessory. Incredibly helpful in protecting my eyes especially in the Australian Sun. Would definitely recommend. 10/10

American Apparel Tennis Skirt Real Vs Dupe

I was reluctant to spend $72 AUD on the damned American Apparel tennis skirt but I had to be in with the cool kids so I bought a dupe off an eBay seller based in Hong Kong for $9 AUD. After a month of waiting, it still had not turned up. I lost hope for it arriving and American Apparel was having a sale around this time so I bought the ‘real’ skirt for $45.50. A week later, both of them came. What an opportunity for a debut blog post!

The real one is a very true white whereas the dupe is an off-white. The difference in colour could work in favour of someone with a warm skin (like me) but honestly they are both flattering.

The label of the fake one isn’t centred. Who’s going to see the label though?

Note: I had to take off about 4 to 5cm from the waist on both skirts. They are true to size and would fit perfectly on someone with a 58-61cm waist.

Quality-wise, they are very, very similar. The AA one is slightly stiffer which makes the pleats look more crisp and gives me more hip. You can tell the fake one is softer because it falls around my butt instead of flaring out. :-) But seriously give the fake one a good ironing job and they’re pretty much the same.

The overall differences in product aren’t vast at all! I would definitely recommend paying $9 instead of the full $72 and waiting five weeks instead of one as a compensation. Trust me, no one’s going to stare you down on the street and analyse whether or not your skirt is the real deal. You will look fabulous! ^__^

Daiso Ellefar Peeling Gel

The Ellefar peeling Gel or ‘Water Pack Jelly’ as on the packaging, is a gel exfoliant sold at Daiso for $2.80 AUD. What’s fun about this exfoliant is that after rubbing it into the skin, dead skin coagulates into balls. It’s both interesting and disgusting at the same time! I can’t read Japanese and the only English on the packaging was a warning to stop use if irritation is experienced and the ingredient list. Hence, I’m not entirely sure if I’m using the product correctly.

How to use:

Cleanse the face as per usual

Pat dry your face, ensuring that the skin is damp but not wet

Apply about a 20 cent coin size amount onto the face and rub gently

Wash off dead skin and excess product

Repeat a second time in necessary

What’s the verdict?

I have used Cure Natural Aqua Gel before, and comparing Ellefar to Cure, of course Cure is still number 1. Cure takes less pressure when rubbing the product onto the skin, is quicker to work and uses less product. Cure, is also a lot more watery whereas Ellefar is a genuine gel. Ellefar requires more pressure on the skin or a lot of time and patience for good amounts of dead skin to be lifted off the face. It also requires more product. Despite this, Ellefar is not a bad alternative. I’ve gone through about 4 tubes of it now; each tube lasts around 2-3 months depending on how much you exfoliate. If you are patient enough and have normal to oily skin, getting rid of lots of dead skin may not be so much of an issue. As I have very dry skin, I can become quite flaky. I use this exfoliant twice a week, maximum, and complete step 5 when doing so. I find that after using Ellefar once gets rid of some dead skin, whilst doing it a second time completely refreshes your skin of gunk and leaves it supple and ready for your serums or moisturisers.

All in all, Ellefar is a much cheaper alternative to Cure especially for those who cannot get their hands on Cure so easily. With patience, Ellefar can work equally as well and gently rubbing your face can be almost therapeutic after a long day.

Hope In a Jar by Philosoph and Neutrogena Hyrdroboost water gel Review and comparison

This is a review and comparison of Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin and Neutrogena Hyrdoboost water gel.

I myself, have very dry, flaky, acne prone skin. I can get a bit oily around the t-zone but it’s generally not a huge issue. Around a month ago my skin was in pretty bad shape. It might have been the added stress of exams, but my skin was dryer than ever a nothing I used was helping. So I decided to give these two products a shot.

  Hope in a Jar is more than twice as expensive as Neutrogena and despite containing 10 more ml of product, that is not much to cover the spread in price. So is Hope in a Jar worth it?

I would say, for my skin type, it is definitely worth the price. After using both products consistently for a month now, I can say that Hope in a Jar both retains moisture more and requires less product for the entire face and neck. The Neutrogena Hydroboost would be great for somebody with normal skin but for the barren desert that is my face, I need much more. When I use just Neutrogena, even after exfoliating, I can still see flakes on my face. Hope in a Jar makes my face look smooth and when applying foundation, I don’t look like the sprinkles on agedashi tofu. In terms of Neutrogena’s claims, I have not noticed my skin’s protective shield being rebuilt or the continual release of moisture. It seems to be the opposite in fact. After about an hour or two, I can see dry flakes on my skin. In terms of the claims made by philosophy, I have not experienced anything contradictory.  

However, using the two products together actually makes for a great combination. I use Hope in the Jar as my night time cream, or in the day when I’m feeling a little on the dryer side. The Hydroboost is great for the day as it is lighter. I can apply my daily sunscreen and makeup over the Hydroboost and not feel like I have a lot of product on my face. In addition, the added sunscreen and other moisturising make up can supplement the moisture that the Hydroboost doesn’t have.

Overall both products are good but for my skin type, Hope in a Jar wins this battle. In the winter time I can see myself using Hope in a Jar more often whereas my Hydroboost would become obsolete. However, as it is currently summer in Australia, the Hydroboost is doing me well as of now.
