Presumably it’s “the last you’ll ever need” because it’ll kill you. There’s no chance it can form a reliable seal around the face, especially when users talk, which this writeup specifically says is a feature it allows.

A simple twist! So much simpler than scrolling through my playlists on a screen that can display more than one line at a time. So much simpler than having a labelled volume knob instead of twisting one of five separate rings on an orb, where the twisting action itself almost inevitably twists other rings by accident.

If there’s an earthquake while you’re sleeping and you weren’t a bad sleeper who put a limb or pillow over the “don’t crush me” threshold, the bed will automatically drop you on top of your emergency supplies. But good luck reaching them, trapped under a mattress when you’re on top of the mattress in a tiny enclosed space.

Actually, why are there moving parts at all? What does this solve that isn’t solved by making a slightly larger safe box that encloses the bed at all times? In fact, if you want a larger safe box that encloses the bed at all times, why not construct a house that meets earthquake standards?

It’s Instacart, except instead of deciding what you’d like online and having it delivered to your house, you still have to drive to the supermarket and pick it up yourself from fantastically complicated robot kiosks and conveyor belts.

And, let’s stock over three hundred kiosks with one shelf’s worth of apples because it’s not like apples go bad or anything.

(Presumably the rail and tether (tether!!!) supplies power such that the flying train doesn’t need to carry all its fuel on board.) Hey kids, let’s fly an entire long distance trip in the turbulent air near the ground!!! Also, please note these train stations don’t even have two tracks, so how are you supposed to make the return journey?

And minor quibble, but why does the audio sound like a quiet vacuum cleaner instead of fantastically loud VTOL prop planes? I mean, this is a bit like Osprey except with eight propellers instead of two. (and ... way way way way way more than four times the weight of the Osprey...)

Yeah, the bottom part isn’t a screen. It’s a single-piece lens, “that matches the focal point of the camera” BUT THAT’S NOT HOW LENSES WORK! Single piece lenses have a single focal point. Yes, even convex lenses.

It's very “cool”.

But as a design solution to the problem of dealing with weather and seasons, it's bonkers and terrible. Insulation (and say, double-glazed or triple-glazed windows) is a good partial solution towards both the problem of heat and the problem of cold. Heating and cooling systems do most of the rest. Am I seriously supposed to believe that moving a house every day, continuously throughout the day, takes less energy than cooling or heating a well-insulated non-moving house?

Plus, the unfolding system means this house takes up a tremendous amount of space relative to its internal square footage. You know what actually is an efficient, sustainable way to live? Multi-unit housing! Row houses are more efficient than detached! High rises even more efficient!

Also, you gotta make sure all human and pet inhabitants are away from any walls that'll squish together or any second-floor doorways that will soon open onto empty space instead of formerly adjacent rooms.

Here’s an interesting thought. What if you had multiple projectors pointing at each other, would the projections form a 3D object?? If there were smoke in the air, or mist, very much so! That’s probably one of the many ways of creating a hologram.

That’s not at all how intersecting projections in mist would work.

Even if you buy his idea that you could separate the catastrophic failure parts from the passengers, why wouldn't they just jettison the engines and keep everything else? Why get rid of, for example, the aerodynamic lifting power of the wings? Why do the pilots have to die?

Also, if this guy is an aviation engineer, why do the animation proof of concepts not have the plane shell not go way upwards as soon as the bulk of the weight is removed from the wings+engines?

Front Loading washing machines are undoubtedly the more superior type. They, however, utilize too much water. Top Loading machines are in that aspect, much more economical when it comes to water usage.

This is literally the opposite of the truth. Old school top-loaders are much less efficient in water usage than front loaders, but new top loaders are “comparable” to front loaders.

The designer has literally taken the correct solution and modified it to be more like the incorrect solution, then explained how he did a great job.

I hate to break it to you, but reusable bottles that feature built-in filters have also been designed before. You can buy them right now. This is fine, but nothing about it is “innovative”.
