Zelene stepped out of her shadow, not showing her relief as Fendrel explained her next mission. Of course, this was somewhat of a mild one, considering it just involved spying. She took note of the invitation, reading through the warm and handwritten message.
She has learned not to ask questions before, but Zelene couldn’t help but grant Fendrel a deadpanned look.
“Valdear House, then.” She offered the letter back, as she had no need for it anymore. “I am to intendentify this person and... only see if a threat is considered.”
What she was saying was a mere formality. She Fendrel considered everything a threat.
She briefly glanced to the side before continuing.
“There’s also that thing” she mentioned, producing a bag from her clothes. She held it towards Fendrel unenthusiastically, “The sweets from Ayon you kindly requested.” Zelene was likely to put the bag away if Fendrel reached for it, then offering her other hand to collect payment.
The tactician took particular attention whenever she returned to her hometown in Ayon. He said it was due to the sugar coated delicacy, so sure, she was willing to retrieve some and double the price for him. He always paid.

House of Valdear felt particularly empty that day. Despite the housekeepers showering her with attention after her return, Rolante felt a bit desolated. She let a long sigh escape her lips, then put down the last of the envelopes to be sent that day. She took a moment to gaze at her handiwork: flourished and elegant handwriting spelling out delayed thank-you cards.
She tilted her head, voicing her thoughts “The style is probably different to brother’s, but I couldn’t leave these letters unanswered.” Her eyes trailed to the family portrait painting resting on the opposite wall. Her gaze was set on the two adult figures holding two babies,“It has been months.”
Rolante sat for another moment, looking at all the papers neatly organized over the desk. She raised her eyebrow, reaching out for a particular stack. She recognized the paper used, and she couldn’t help but press her lips together in disapproval.
The big stack she was holding were her letters. So he was getting them! All the time she was stationed in Effen, and he did not reply any of the letters she sent. Rolante huffed, somewhat childishly, reflecting that perhaps her relationship with her brother wasn’t in its highest point.
“I don’t think it would go better if he finds out I’m looking over his things” she thought.
