What do you love most about Dorne?
“There is little I do not love about Dorne. I especially love the extravagance of everything, the parties, the beautiful gowns. It’s spectacular, and so incredibly different than any place I have ever visited.”
do you like to collect anything?
“I enjoy collecting beautiful ribbons and lace from the different markets I visit. It’s sort of something I picked up the more we traveled around.”
Do you want children?
“I’d certainly love the opportunity.” Rhaella replied, although deep down she wondered if such a thing was possible for her, due to the unforgettable history her family name bore.
Camylle gave a shrug, arms crossed over her chest. “I believe it would be my duty as a wife to bear children to carry on my husband’s name. I don’t dislike the idea, but don’t know when I feel ready to take on the role of mother.”

Menta had never found as much pleasure in political visits as raids, but she supposed there was a different kind of rush that came from mere word play. Yet, despite this, she still found the stuffy stone walls of the buildings nobles like to enclose themselves within suffocating at best. Although, not so much for the buildings themselves as for the toxic environment that lay within. So the escape to the somewhat lighter air outdoors was a welcome change.
Rhaella Targaryen was the last person she had expected to meet in the dark of the night, the ball of sunshine that she was rumoured to be, but she’d survived bigger surprises. “I couldn’t agree more.” She began, stepping out of the shadows, her hand balanced on the hilt of her sword. “Although, it isn’t exactly the safest thing. For a Lady to be walking alone in the dark.”
A slight fear struck Rhaella as the woman approached her. She was beautiful, in a sort of rugged sense. The other seemed like she was greatly important somewhere, although she did not wear the usual fine garments that the Targaryen woman was used to seeing draped over highborn ladies. Perhaps the woman wasn't highborn, or rich, but she was certainly powerful. She supposed the woman was here on some sort of political visit, but she was not privy to these matters.
"I suppose it's not." Rhaella replied, her eyes moving to the woman's hand on her sword. Clearly, she felt the weight of her mistake in this moment. How foolish she felt for allowing herself to be exposed to all the dangers and enemies her family faced simply for a moment of contemplation and fresh air. "I wouldn't say I'm alone, however." It was a bluff, something the woman would probably see right through, but she didn't want to completely lay down defenseless.

Her response made him think she would accept his offer, something he genuinely wished she would agree to. As her guest, the king made it his duty to ensure the Targaryen lady felt at home during her stay in the Waterlands but given the old quarrels of their families he knew perhaps it was a lot to ask. Giving her a private space was the least he could do so this place did not feel so foreign and hostile to her. Perhaps by her hand his mother’s solar would be restored to its former glory. As simple as that notion was, it made him glad to think about it.
“I am sure you will, my lady” the warrior king spoke back, a brief smile appearing on his lips. Without words but only a gesture of his hand, he asked for the lady to walk with him. He had no destination in mind, he simply thought of enjoying the lady’s company and the fresh breeze reaching them from the sea. “Well, I do not really have to evade them. I can just ask them to leave me be” he responded as he glanced sideways to look at her as they walked. A perk of being king was that he could order his men to leave and they did as he asked, even if they did advise him to keep a guard or two around now that the Targaryens were in Driftmark. “Some might say I am fool for being as trusting as I am with your family-” Edric began, looking ahead as he spoke. After what had happened to his brother his trust for others lessened considerably, making him wary that there could be enemies everywhere. His guards and soldiers shared that sentiment and did not want to lose another king so soon “-but how could I claim to wish for a true alliance between our houses if I treated you with hostility and distrust?”.
It was hard for Rhaella to contain the true excitement she had in the King's offer. She loved the idea of having her own little place to escape to, instead of having to sneak out at odd hours and risk the wrath of her mother should she find out. She was grateful that of all people she could have run into out here, she managed to run into Edric.
Rhaella obliged without verbal response and easily fell into stride with the other. It was a tad chilly for her liking, but she didn't mind. The company she got to keep in this moment was worth the minor discomfort. She never said it aloud, but in so many ways she and Edric were alike, or had similar experiences, and that drew her to him. A light blonde brow raised at his response, it wasn't something she expected from him. "Forgive me for saying so, but I did not think you were so diplomatic." She began. "Well, I suppose I can only say this based off of heresay." Rhaella suddenly felt ridiculous for having made the comment. Surely he knew that the crown that fell upon his head came with the heaviest price, and she was certain her reminding him of his lack in preparation for it only dampened the mood. She sighed. "I'm sorry. My mother is always badgering me about my impulsiveness. Really, I'd like to thank you for giving us such a chance. Without any of this, we'd never have gotten a chance to....well, live."

The markets had once been the most exciting place Alys ventured. Filled with the yeild of The Reach’s fertile soil. She felt at home their, surrounded by success and economy, it made her proud of her home. Now as she walked all she could see was impending doom. Each time she came the fruit was more rotten, the supply of grain smaller. The Reach was dying and the markets had become the evidence of it.
She had been caught in this musing, cursing what she saw around her, when she crashed into the stranger. She might have been offended by the lack of apology had she not seen the full cheeks, evidently still eating. “I apologise, I was not looking where I was going.” She glanced down at the apple still in her hand, “It looks as if you have been punished enough. Those were once delicious, if you will believe it. I am rather ashamed you should have to taste them at such a time.”
The Reach's market was not quite as impressive as she had experienced, in fact it was probably one of the worst, but her mother's voice in her head told her it'd be rude to blatantly point this out. Not long ago she would have boasted about the beautiful markets in Dorne, riches as far as the eye can see and the fruit was perfectly ripe and plentiful. Now, she almost felt sorry for the people who lived here, and those who attempted to sell subpar delicacies just to make it by.
"The fault is mine." The dark haired lady replied. "I'd like to believe that." She admitted, with a small laugh and smile. "But it certainly does not compare to it's past reputation, unfortunately." Camylle now simply twirled the apple in her hand, not really intending to eat much more. "What has happened that has affected your markets so terribly?" It was curisosity, and the possibility of being able to help that striked Camylle to ask before she thought. "If I may ask, that is." She added, hoping not to offend the lady before her.

The White Hall market felt busier than Altheda could remember it in recent memory, but perhaps it seemed doubly so because of her own recent travels through the smaller, sparser towns through the North. The cobblestone streets and whitewashed stone walls surrounded her like a maze, pinning her somewhere in the center. She hadn’t even made her way to the edge of the city, hadn’t yet been able to spy the curling surf in the harbor. It felt like ages since she’d seen the sea but was determined to reach a lookout point. She’d picked up a tight bouquet and a new volume of poetry this morning and was eager to find a quiet place to sit and read for at least a short while.
Navigating the market streets was no easy feat today, though. She’d already had two close calls, nearly colliding with strangers who had not been committed to watching their paths. Collecting her new possessions into one arm to lift her skirts to dodge a small group of harried septons, Altheda only succeeded in colliding with someone else entirely… causing her to drop everything she carried. “Oh, no!” Altheda called out as flower petals and leaves of paper lifted in the cool breeze and began to flutter away. Before she could think to apologize, to even look to the one she’d stumbled into, she dropped to the floor to collect as many loose sheets of poetry she could.
Oops. Camylle felt a twinge of guilt as she watched the woman's items float off into the wind. She felt there was no use in chasing after them. Aside from that, the bumbling crowd managed to step on and hide most of what had drifted. She turned to the woman, finishing chewing a moment, before speaking. "I apologize, perhaps I can compensate you for your loss."
She began fumbling in her coin purse, unsure of really how much would suffice, but money was really of no concern to her, she would more than compensate the other, if need be to get out of the little debt she owed. Although upon examination, the lady looked as though it was not much issue to her either, but it was really the only polite way to make amends that Camylle knew to do. "It's quite crowded and difficult not to bump shoulders. I wasn't really looking, I admit."

Already he was beginning to really like Rhaella Targaryen, simply because of how freely she seemed to be with dropping such traditions of titles. He understood the use of them, it was out of respect and he would be polite to anyone who was not hell bent on being an arse. Still, it eased him that at this late hour he did not have to worry about bad company. In fact he much rather preferred to be in the company of others if he could. “They keep me and my men alive, so I suppose they are important. Too many people of died fighting over power, that is my humble opinion on it.” The commander stated with a light shrug, smiling as Rhaella spoke next. “Perhaps we are. I do not know many people who would wish to hear my ramblings.”Aidan admitted, knowing that when he was away from the Redfort not many wished to hear the commander ramble on of peace, which seemed farfetched when war was inevitable for power. There would always be those seeking to take it, many willing to even kill for it.
“It seems as though your mother has perhaps only ever known war. For those who came before us, it is not hard to see why.” His father was the same way, always overbearing and wishing for his children to prepare for anything that may stand in their way. The mountain clans were who he feared, not the North. Though many had met their fate with those rogue northern armies, including his uncle, the mountain clans were growing stronger each day that passed by. Their numbers too only seemed to grow, challenging those who dare cross paths with them. “I find it just as hard to sleep at night knowing we could be at war in these months to come. That is why we come to places like this, yes? To make allies, forge bonds in hopes that we may all fight together to survive.” Aidan smiled, nodding so they may fall into step with each other. Usually feeling the breeze against his skin helped clear his head, as did actually moving about. “I find it’s much easier to sleep knowing that I have surrounded myself among people I can trust…do you have people like this, Rhaella?”
Rhaella nodded, understanding completely what war and power could do to someone. Her own father succumbed to it, her mother on the brink of being consumed by it as well. She wasn't sure if, in her mother's case, it was simply habit, or the desire for vengeance and some sort of redemption. She wished she could snap her fingers and change the course of her families history, live a simple and normal life, but that is not what was destined for her. In fact, she was quite unsure what her future held. "Well if you should ever need, I am always happy to lend an ear. And if it's any consolation, I really don't have anyone to repeat your ramblings too, anyways." Rhaella joked, although it was pretty much true. Who would she tell? Even her sister would probably not care for gossip, she had always been more proper in that way, always minding her own business.
The words the commander spoke held the hard truth that Rhaella had never quite realized before. Her mother was indeed always fighting, someone or something, maybe something within her. There was always a battle or war lingering in her eyes, and she always had to be a step or two ahead. "I suppose your right, I never thought of it that way." She replied, still somewhat deep in thought over it, letting herself soak in that realization for a moment. At the mention of future war, Rhaella simply nodded. "Yes, I enjoy the peacefulness and freddom while I can. I imagine we'll be hidden away again too, for who knows how long this time. Maybe it will play out differently the sooner my sister's betrothal is followed through." She knew there was a bit of a rush on the engagement, and hoped it would end in marriage soon. It was best, for all of them. At the question, the Targaryen raised her brows. "Very few, Aidan." She answered after a few moments. "Trust has never come easy for us, unfortunately. I don't believe I have to explain why."
myrcolla
she’s aware that most have a firm opinion of the targaryen’s, whether that be in support of them or for their extinction. but myrcella had never been one for absolutes, preferred the shades of grey. and so, even if past generations might have left something to be desired, she was not of the opinion that everyone was automatically one and the same just because they shared a name. no, she would work out an opinion by herself. “is that why you find yourself here now then? for the sake of a sister’s engagement?” myrcella arches a curious brow, offering nothing but a kind smile.
the riverlands had always seemed a calm place to her, and with such a penchant for the water already, it’s easy for her to admire the lands. but one could only admire so much before the itch for adventure becomes too much. “i’ve yet to walk around the lake, perhaps you’d like to join me? we can get to know it all a little better together?” the auburn haired woman grins then, storm grey eyes briefly alight with the promise of something new.
It was incredibly relieving for Rhaella to have found someone who seemed unphased by her heritage. Most others, one way or another, were almost fasinated with her, as if she was some sort of rare bird. Her features, though strikingly different, did not seem so exceptional that she was to be a spectacle. Rhaella believed, however, that it was moreso what her features represented, the faults of her family before her, ambitions she never associated with herself, but she could not speak for the others in her family. She was never sure what they truly wanted, and in a way that scared her.
"Yes, it is." She answered politely. "Sort of an alliance, a way for us to return to society." Rhaella shrugged, it was kind of sad, that they had to depend on this in order to secure a somewhat peaceful return. The Queen's offer brought a smile to the woman's face, her eyes brightening in delight. The only person she was very close to was her sister, and while she knew to be careful of who she trusted, she sensed much goodness in the other. It was impossible for Rhaella to not accept the invitation. "I would love that, your grace. It's not often I get the chance to know many others, especially from places other than here or Dorne." She admitted with a small laugh.
I’ll be getting to replies today dearies. So sorry it was a hectic weekend, but I’m back!

Rhaella’s love language is "physical touch”, she feels that is something is has been rooted in the fact that she did not receive much physical affection even from her mother as a young girl. She wasn’t held often when she cried and believes that has affected her emotionally this way.
Another day, another city. It seemed her parents' business was busiest during this season, and as much as she enjoyed getting to travel to all the different places, at times she found herself missing Dorne. It was entirely different from Westeros in general, and she felt she fit in a little better there. While her father conducted his trades, Camylle went off to explore a bit trying to get a feel of this city and decide if she liked it at all. There was a market square not to far from where her parents were, and so she browsed around. She found a table with various fruits, and picked up an apple to inspect it.
"How much?" She questioned, raising a brow at the answer. Camylle looked at the fruit again, took a bite, shrugged and handed the man his coin. Clearly, apples were not a staple in this place. As she turned to walk on, she bumped into someone. Mouth still full, she smiled and shrugged, hoping she wouldn't have to give much else of an apology to the stranger.

“I’ve always found introductions to be a bit stiff. Once we move past them things become much more interesting. Nice to meet you as well, Rhaella.” His hands rested gently behind his back, tension easing from his shoulders now that introductions had been made. Though they were a hassle and Aidan never cared much for titles or presentations, he always found that once he could gauge a person’s personality it was much easier to drop the act. Politeness did run through his veins, however traditionalism did not.
With the given explanation it made sense as to why Rhaella, a Targaryen would be anywhere near house Velaryon when there had been such an obvious feud. Many knew of it, but Aidan found he was especially good with remembering enemies of a house and which houses belong to which lands. His mother had spent hours preparing him for things like this, for it was his duty as Commander to be aware of all that was happening in terms of war and peace in the Seven Kingdoms. “I will hope for peace as well. Many think that because my title as Commander that I would enjoy war, but that is the worst part of it. Protecting the people you care for, those who you believe are worth fighting for, that’s the true reason to become something like this.” Aidan was never known to ramble, but he found that with his father’s death slowly approaching, his thoughts began to spew out of him like blood. I’m sorry, Lady Rhaella, I ramble too much. I took a walk to clear my head and I find I’m musing aloud far too often.”
Rhaella laughed and nodded in agreement. It was rather difficult, constantly feeling new and having to introduce herself over and over. Yes, many recognized her as Targaryen simply by her looks, but not many seemed brave enough to admit they knew who she was, or they prefered to act gullible. She could never tell which, as she couldn't ever tell who was really on her side nowadays, especially in what could very well be deemed as hostile territory for them, despite the alliance. It was even more comforting, in a way, when he called her simply by her name. No one was around to be proper around, anyways, but again, no one truly did something like that off the bat.
"I imagine times of peace is exponentially more important to you, Aidan." She replied, using his name now as a way of showing him that it was okay to casually speak now, although he seemed perfectly comfortable. "Please, don't apologize for rambling. Perhaps we were meant to run into each other and at least have someone to ramble our troubles too." She laughed and then sighed, her shoulders sagging slightly. "If only my mother thought as you did. I feel as if she is always at war, one way or another. She always seems to be expecting it, always preparing for it." Rhaella understood why. Her mother had been through more than she could imagine, but still, she was always uneasy now, as if she should behave as paranoid as her. As if she should always be prepared for the worst. Was that all they were to expect the rest of their lives? "I understand the need to know those around you, to prepare for those who wish to see you fall, but I can never rest easy, with all these thoughts running through my mind."

Rhaella would not know how to cook water if it came to it and she’s picky about the way her meat is prepared. She doesn’t like a lot of meat in general, and prefers it to be cooked a certain way.
