AR Pistol Build (Part 5) - Shooting the damn thing
So after spending months on building this damn thing I finally got to shoot it.
A few things I noticed. This gun is tiny. Here is my roommate cradling it.
It's small. It's extremely handy. If you ever taken a rifle class you know that your rifle will butt into everything including the ground, the wall, your nuts, etc. This thing on a two point sling cradles nicely into your body and you never have to worry about the barrel running up against objects.
Their is no stock. So the best you can hope for is a cheek weld. I used sling tension when I shot similar to how my buddy is shooting it. Pulling the pistol away from you and firing, I was able to hit a target out to about 50 meters no problem. Recoil was manageable.
On the other hand, in an indoor range from rest without a sling I got smacked in the face. The rifle definitely does have more recoil than a full length or even a carbine length. Also due to a shorter gas system the gun cycles quicker causing double feeds until I swapped out the standard buffer for a heavy one. Then it fed like a charm.
At 25 Meters from rest I was able to put all 10 shots of Federal 5.56 into the space of about a mans palm:
All in all I love this bad boy :D
If you have any questions on the legality of an AR Pistol or on how you can create your own, please feel free to message me. If I could live in a different state I would never build an AR Pistol, instead, I would pony up the tax money and get a SBR (Short barreled rifle). The stock makes the world of difference. Also a forward vertical grip is a no no. What I have on mine is not a forward vertical grip.
