A little bit of an experimental piece!
This took me nearly 3 months to finish lmao
Honestly, I initially tried doing this the grey scale way, but guys, I do NOTTTT like this method at all, like, while I think it looks pretty and it did help me get some definition, the "colouring over the greyscale with multiply" aspect of it was deadass the reason it took me so long to finish, it was suchhh a pain in the ass and while I like the result of the piece overall, I am VERY LIKELY not to do this method again OTL
THAT BEING SAID I am again, super happy with the outcome of the piece however experimental it is >:D
AND it's sort of a reference to these old artworks of mine (yes! I've been on a trip redrawing old Marluxia/Lauriam art of mine with this and the last piece!)
One part of kingdom hearts I find fascinating that I don't see get talked to often is the way that Keyblades and key culture is a dying art. A giant culture with philosophies and martial artistry and uniforms and this extensive history just slowly got whittled down until there were maybe four masters left and only a handful of students. The second keyblade war could barely count as a blip in the grand scheme of how many keybearers there used to be. Xehanort's desperation to not let go of the past as one of the last traditionally trained masters, the revival of the art by the novice who was never supposed to wield the weapon in the first place, the lonely state of keyblade mastery as a whole... It's very poignant just how much was lost that a culture that once filled an entire planet can now all be accounted for in one room

Obviously DARKNESS is a big thing in Kh, but he especially is Dark with a capital D. He’s called the cloaked schemer and he is a dark sorcerer and he hangs out in the basement etc.

Darkness is his whole thing. What he IS is darkness. yea
Saïx - Hunt Avatar
Spends all of kh2 single mindedly tracking down Axel. You could say that his dedication to finding Subject X is also Hunt, even if he’s not searching for the purpose of killing her.
(The concept of berserking usually lends itself to the Slaughter, but he only utilizes berserk when Xemnas allows him to. He’s not out of control at all.)
Riku - Hunt Avatar
When Sora is asleep, Riku dedicates all his time to ensuring that everything goes smoothly. He fights Roxas and Xion for this purpose. Then, he continues to watch Sora and Kairi from the shadows, and help clear the way for them.
Axel - Desolation Avatar/Victim
Most obvious Desolation guy ever. Fire and loss. He loses so many people. When he loses Roxas he tries to set him on fire for it.
Lexaeus - Buried Avatar
Earth powers. Vibes. He could crush you easily. He is unyielding. Perhaps he feels buried under the weight of his mistakes? (<- making things up)
Naminé - Spiral Avatar
Fucks with Sora and Repliku’s memories. Also, the entirety of Castle Oblivion is impossible architecture. Plus the fact that everything is stark white would make u feel crazy probably
