Hey look I have some tips on mental health from struggling with it for almost 13 years now:
Happiness takes practice and recovery takes work
Some symptoms and disorders may last for most of your life but thats no reason you can’t learn how to navigate it and learn how to combat it.
You need to learn the difference between when you need a self care day and when you need to push yourself out of your funk. Don’t push on days where it makes things worse, don’t give yourself permission to shrug off responsibilities for self care.
Share with friends. Be honest. Be open. Explain anything you know regarding why you might get angry, why your mood might swing, why you are stressed or nervous about certain things, tell them when your anger or frustration is not about them and apologize when you lash out.
Seek out your negative thoughts and then do everything you can to destroy them. There is nothing cool about being pessimistic and nothing sympathetic about self loathing so you have no reason to keep it around. Combat negative thoughts with what you know is true and positive.
Don’t focus on the past. Remember you can always do better in the future, in the now, anything in the past is water under the bridge and does not define you today.
If a recovery method, therapist, hobby, self care, or any tools to get your life back on track don’t work don’t just give up. Take time to see why it didn’t work for you, think about how to make it work better next time, take a deep breath and try anew.
Mental illness does not excuse you from being an asshole or doing hurtful things and you should be responsible for your actions when they hurt you.
Read and study your mental illness, look up how other people are coping, read about relaxtation techiques, look up how to be more organized, read those dumb lists about things that will make you happy. Even if you only find a few things that help you, its more than you had before, and reading about recovery and positive thinking often will change your thinking.
You can do it, you can become the person you fucking want to be.
