Not trying to offend anyone—I'm just curious about a headcanon i've seen around the fandom and wanted to hear what other people think.

I've read a lot of fanfics where people explore the possibility—or headcanon—that Whizzer was involved in sex work.

What do you guys think about that?

Let me make this so abundantly clear, do not come into my inbox and name drop authors talking about what "bad" fanfic looks like. Fan fiction is exactly that. FAN. FICTION. It does not have to be "good", it does not have to contain lore, or develop characters personalities. Porn can exist for the sake of being porn, and that is okay. What is not okay is shaming people for creating pieces of work that they do not have to create!! They do it for fun and for indulgence. You can criticise fanon characterisation, you can feel uncomfortable reading pure smut, you can argue till the cows come home about how Bill Finns work "should" be treated, but you cannot name and shame fic authors who interact in fandom to spread joy! This is how fandoms die, puritans who think they're better than those who write "erotica" kill them off.

Some people seem to think Whizzer just has a bald spot. I'm fairly certain Bill Finn intended for it to be a sign of his HIV.

HIV can often cause hair loss - not all the time, but it is one of the potential symptoms. People who just assume Whizzer has always had a bald spot, in my opinion, really miss the purpose.

It's to show how these symptoms can often be overlooked because people didn't know what was happening. It's a sad sign of Whizzer's deterioration and the how the other characters are unaware of its potential significance.

seeing people say that whizzer is more masculine than marvin and vice versa is so annoying... gender roles don't exist in their relationship and a whole part of their character exploration is them coming to terms with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

any interpretation of miss goldberg is alright and people need to chill

someone is not a misogynist for interpreting her as having groomed or raped marvin (imgonna die if i see one more person call someone a misogynist for interpreting it as such please its not misogynistic to think a woman groomed a man)

but on the flip side

someone is not a groomer or rapist apologist for interpreting her a different way and talking about her as such (ie, seeing it as marvin having raped her, or seeing it as a sexual fantasy) (im also gonna die if i see one more person say its weird to 'defend' miss goldberg)

in trousers is a confusing story and can be interpreted differently without that interpretation being objectively wrong, dont get mad at other for having a different interpretation all interpretation are correct that part of the beauty

I usually don't have a problem with cishet actors playing gay characters, but because the vast majority of straight people just do not have the experience or understanding of gender needed to portray Marvin's struggles with it thoroughly, Marvin should only be played by queer men

the way SOME of you guys draw marvin (cborle marv specifically) pisses me off. WHY DO HALF OF YOU REMOVE ALL HIS FEATURES. IT DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE HIM. some of you guys (and i endlessly reiterate SOME,) are really scared of drawing "unattractive" features and it shows.
