When it comes to revamps for the restructure, are we allowed to change our muse's age, or must that remain the same?
Yes, you're welcome to change pretty much anything as long as you aren't viewing it as a completely different muse, just for the sake of keeping to only allowing people to keep muses and not take on new ones just yet. Position, company, age, faceclaim, background, etc. can all change! Just note that if your muse has points-claimed acting claims, changing their age might force you to refund those points claims if they wind up outside of the three year range of the role or actor. If your muse is already pretty young or youâve been in the group awhile, it might also affect other points claims if maybe the change, for instance, makes a muse underage for a claim that isnât appropriate for an underage muse. Points claims and tweaking those, refunding them, etc. will be addressed separately after re-acceptances are done!
Also, feel free to send any questions about the restructuring to the new main!
There wonât be an activity check today and you can count it as a free week because I have some big but hopefully not too big news. Famed is going to undergo a restructuring, and this is going to involve me asking everyone who would like to remain in the group to resubmit an application to keep their muse(s).
To be clear, this is not a complete revamp. Most of the major processes of how the roleplay work will not change and claims and development on muses will be able to be kept unless you put them in a majorly different position (in which case, claims that will no longer work can be refunded!), but the the size of the roleplay will be cut down over half from 135 spots to 65 spots. Many of the groups will be merged and all will be changed to some extent so that we have a total of thirteen groups, all with four to six members instead of the over twenty groups, many of which are rather large, we have now.
I want to disclaim that I know there will be members who connect less with the roleplay after the restructuring. I also want to apologize to anyone who is inconvenienced by the changes made, but please know I am only making these changes because I feel it is absolutely critical to the long-term life of the roleplay. A restructuring of some sort is something Iâve been thinking about for probably over a year or so now and Iâve been trying to avoid it for the sake of disrupting everyone as little as possible, but itâs become apparent to me that itâs necessary to keep the roleplay going, not because of member activity but because of my own ability to handle everything as an admin. I created Famed over four years ago when I was in a much different place in my life and had very little experience with idol roleplays and no experience at all running an idol roleplay, so I havenât always been totally happy with how everything is set up. While I always did my best to make sure I was confident I could handle things before adding anything else onto my plate, naturally, several major life events have occurred over the past four years, especially the last one, that have altered the amount of time and energy I can commit to roleplaying, often making it draining and difficult to manage the group at its current scale.
Taking on another admin or mods would ultimately mean quite a bit more being required of me for at several months in order to evaluate any options presented to me and to help introduce a new person to all of the intricacies of the roleplay at a speed weâd both we comfortable with. It would also require me to be able to find someone I would be confident placing that responsibility on since I wouldnât want to do it by half measures, which isnât a guarantee. With all of that considered, I feel that this restructuring is the best course of action to keep the roleplay alive for the foreseeable future instead of risking my own discontent and stress leading to a fizzling out of the roleplay. The changes being made are all ultimately being made in hopes of making a more enjoyable and sustainable roleplaying experience in the long term for everyone involved, including me on the admin side and hopefully members as well!
Speaking of which, this will also be a chance for members to look at their own experience in the roleplay and muses and make their own changes to their muses as they find appropriate for improving their roleplay experience. Iâll be asking everyone to send in an updated application for the new changes since some details will probably have to change for every muse to some extent. Members are welcome to change what they feel necessary (or might be required by nature of the changes), from the museâs group, to their position, faceclaim, age, background, etc. This means youâll be able to pick new past claims made on your application too and a new past claims system is being put in place that will actually allow muses to have a more established career in their backstory! Youâll also be able to potentially refund points claims made that no longer fit changes you have to make to your muse, but that will be handled once the re-application process has been completed.
New main blogs have been created for the purpose of having a fresh start void of any old information that might still be lingering around blogs that will no longer be accurate. The new structure of the groups and companies can be found here on the new main (the URL will be changed to famedroleplay tomorrow!). On August 15 at noon EDT, exactly forty-eight hours after this post, I will be opening up for reserves to keep muses. You may only reserve spots for existing muses at this time, not for new muses, and muns will unfortunately now have to be limited to a maximum of three muses due to the decreased size of the roleplay.
Currently in-use faceclaims will be held for the muses they are used for unless the mun chooses to reserve a different faceclaim for the muse or until the period of accepting applications for keeping muses is up. Since groups, positions, and model groups have been moved around so much, I decided not to assume the assignment of positions to any muse, so it will be up to muns to reserve the spot they feel best suits their muse. Everyone will get a couple of days to look positions over before reserves are accepted to make the reserving of positions as fair as possible. I plan to do three acceptances on August 18, 22, and 25 that will be reserved solely for those applying to keep their muses, and the August 29 acceptances will be the first time we open for new muses again. Activity will start up as normal on August 22!
Members planning on keeping their muse may continue to write during this time if theyâd like and work out that theyâll be keeping those plots, but points canât be collected for anything that wasnât already in progress since you might end up retconning it anyway.
Thank you all in advance for your understanding and I hope youâre able to find this exciting in some way! I know Iâm hopeful for what I see as a fresh phase of Famed. Famed version 1.2, if you will. Iâm aware this will likely be the end of the road for some who arenât as interested in the new structure or canât find muse within it or just donât agree with my decisions, and to anyone who finds this to be your parting of ways with Famed, thank you for the time you did dedicate to the group! I do request to please avoid sending rude messages for the sake of being rude if the restructuring isnât your cup of tea, but I will be sad to see anyone go who does leave. The alternative was me most likely, at best, having to put the roleplay on hiatus by the end of the year to take time to deal with real life, so this choice has been made so that I donât have to do that and I can keep this home for so many wonderful muses running as long as possible!
A post with more information about the process of re-applying has already been posted to the new main by the time this post goes up. Check out the updated FAQ on that blog as well since it highlights a few of the more major changes already!

trigger warning:Â eating disorders, traumatic head injury, hospitalization, depression, anxiety
as a child, soohyun had been extremely energetic, in a way that her parents didnât know how to deal with her. much like parents often donât. so, there was an attempt to figure out what to do with the young girl. theyâd thought about several options, and eventually settled on gymnastics. soohyun excelled, she loved it â but what had started as a way to get rid of the boundless energy soohyun had became what soohyun seemed to eat, drink, and breathe. while in her younger years it was nothing of the sort, she slowly grew more competitive with the sport â as did the other girls. soohyun was involved in competitions as she excelled in the field. the beam was especially her friend, she had impeccable balance and control over her body, so it was where she shined most. while her mother was no helicopter parent, she cared very much about soohyun doing well and took care that the young girl would always be at the top of her gain.
unfortunately, this lead to monitoring soohyunâs food intake to ensure she wasnât gaining too much weight. she did what she could to keep soohyun âhealthy,â but tried to ensure she wouldnât develop and lose her girlish figure while she went through puberty. but soohyunâs goal became the olympics, so she didnât mind. she followed what guidelines she was given, and life seemed decent.
the chance never came, however. when she was fourteen, soohyun was a tthe top of the world. then, one day, she woke up in the hospital with her head swimming after she slipped and lost herself in the air when doing a flip, and smacked her head off the beam. most of the time she spent in the hospital was completely lost on her, and suffers mild amnesia from the time surrounding the fall. some nice stitches in the back of her head were kept as the only proof it even happened in her mind (and a video that soohyun will never watch from her motherâs need to record soohyunâs every performance.)
once she was released from the hospital, part of soohyunâs rehabilitation included dancing. once cleared for exercise, albeit not intense, soohyun wanted to be active again. while she wasnât allowed to go back to gymnastics yet, soohyun figure out something, that something being dancing. every once in a while she would suffer from dizzy spells, but was told she was probably just over-exerting herself. it would take some time before she would be used to activity again, so she was probably fine. usually, it wouldnât last long before soohyun could get back on her feet.
returning to gymnastics proved her wrong.
a diagnosis of vertigo and advisement not to return to gymnastics meant that everything sheâd worked for was gone. no matter how hard she tried to return, her head would swim and sheâd be left laying on the ground for hours after an attempt at a flip. doctors told her there was no real telling if it would be chronic, or if it would eventually go away â there was of course a chance, but the brain was a fickle organ. soohyun knew she couldnât continue in gymnastics the way she wanted to if she couldnât continue performing to the skill she had before. her dreams of being a gymnast were dashed.
dance was soohyunâs second choice.
dance change soohyun. she was less on edge, healthier â and she was no longer bothered by her overbearing mother about living out some fantasy of greatness anymore. it made life a lot easier for her; dance was more recreational than her entire life. she was allowed time to continue healing, with far less intense movements so soohyun didnât suffer from near as many vertigo spells. life was easier.
being casted by a music company was the last thing she was expecting out of everything that had happened. soohyun and her friends had been wandering around the mall after finally escaping from hangwon. they were preparing for upcoming entrance exams when a gold star scout had handed soohyun a card and asked her to audition for the company. at a loss for words, soohyun took the card she was handed and went home.
the decision for her to go to seoul had been a family decision. neither of her parents wanted her to get injured again, not the way she had. they worried the intensity of a traineeâs life, and potentially idolâs life, would be too much for soohyun. while her spells had lessened considerably over the two years of rehab, there was always the chance they could get worse with more activity. but soohyun saw it as another chance. perhaps not in the same field, but another chance to do something she loved in a way that made it a career for her. she was a fantastic dancer, and sheâd learn the rest. she was fine with that, she would work hard â but she just wanted the chance to do something she was passionate about instead of live a boring life.
it took some convincing, but her parents allowed her to go on the condition the family moved to be closer to her. thus began her trainee journey.
training under gold star hadnât been easy. with long hours of training, sleepless nights, and the clear encouragement of competition between trainees, it didnât take long for soohyun to fall back into bad habits. she was praised for her dance prowess and flexibility â something that was more of a focus than her vocals or rap skills, which took a clear backseat. her weight loss from the time she signed was clear and praised by coaches who stressed visuals on the women in the company. soohyun wasnât sure how many nights she spent lying on the practice room floor with her head spinning, whether from the vertigo or her poor eating habits.
but she worked hard, she waited â and eventually, she was put into a debut group. to soohyun, it looked like a recipe for disaster â and as it happened, it turned out to be just that. element had pre-debut hype, excitement around a take on the co-ed groups that failed miserably before them. but surely that wouldnât happen for a gold star group, right?
soohyun knew their group had been doomed from the beginning. personally, sheâd been plagued by rumors and criticism since pre-debut. according to many, she was 'uselessâ and 'less talentedâ than the other members of the group, and her pre-debut appearance in one of originâs music videos only seemed to make things worse. an image of being 'easyâ as rumors of in-group dating seemed to plague the group altogether made criticism heavy on soohyunâs shoulders. while it was nothing more than whispers, soohyun struggled with them nonetheless. disbandment was inevitable, but still painful and bittersweet. soohyun thought heavily about leaving the company altogether after things fell apart â sheâd be free of the rumors and a lifestyle that was making her ill. not to mention, how many people successfully re-debuted after their first attempt ended so quickly? soohyun wasnât sure.
convinced by coaches, staff, and her former members, soohyun decided to stay with gold star â but she hadnât been enthused about it. training lost its luster and it wasnât long before she found herself sitting across from a therapist she was referred to by gold star. she worried too much about what she couldâve done better, how she shouldâve worked harder, how if she were somehow more then this wouldnât have happened. this time, it wasnât physical injury that seemingly ended her career, but something that seemed like it was her fault. where her life felt out of control, she took control where she could â once again, she began restricting and monitoring food intake, her anxiety heightened dramatically, and soohyun couldnât find much to care for. she doesnât even know how to handle her therapist, who soohyun wonders is there to just 'fix herâ to ensure sheâll continue to debut under gold star yet again.

her career is an accident, every single bit of it.
rewind.
press > play.
yoo gyuri is born in seoul. her home is modest and warm, itâs quiet and soft. her mother sings and it sounds like butterflies and a summer breeze. her father sings and it sounds like going to yangjae stream to catch fireflies, butterflies, and grasshoppers. she grows up with a song in her heart, she lives without fear. sheâs round cheeks and strangely mysterious eyes, an intent and curious stare that unsettles those she focuses in on. they laugh nervously, little tittering sounds as they tell her sheâs such a precocious little thing. so insightful.
when she was born she was everything her parents wanted: beautiful since a young age, talented, and sickening sweet. the long awaited birth of their only daughter brought a happiness that shed a small speck of light in what otherwise would have been a consuming darkness. tireless effort and patience were the tools of her parentâs trade and they applied this to yoo gyuri as well. Â born to two singers - artists, they preferred to be called - it was no surprise when the small girl began singing before she could speak. figuratively, of course. they are gentle, but firm, and poured their expectations into the young girl relentlessly. they did not mean to fill her to the point of bursting, but this is what happened, regardless.
what was a natural gift is quickly turned into a power when her parents trade the extra math lessons for vocal ones, the arts for dance. even as a child, the pressure is insurmountable. her voice continues to improve, her range growing, her appearance matching the soft and soulful nature of her music.
fastforward.
yoo gyuri is thirteen the first time a vocal trainer tells her parents, specifically, what makes her special. what makes her voice better. itâs not technique or precision. itâs not even her range, really. itâs the power that comes out of such a small girl. itâs the emotion. âshe sings like sheâs lived a thousand years,â her trainer told her parents one day. âlike sheâs lived a thousand heartbreaks.â
when yoo gyuri auditions for a small company, sheâs a slight thing, in stature and in age. thirteen years old but her voice soars powerful and pure, a heart wrenching quality to it that covers for breathiness, for unsupported notes, for the roughened lack of polish that comes with years of singing in her bedroom without any proper training.
fastforward.
even if the company is small, a little run down, often time is asking for money from their own trainees because they arenât able to rake it in themselves - still she sings. and in the blink of an eye, two years pass. with not a debut in sight, with the small company still five feet under ground in debt, her contract expires and her parents small speck of light in the darkness is shut out. there is no giving up, that much is clear. there will be more auditions, there will be other companies.
her big break comes in the form of a training contract with gold star media. a new company, but one that screams of promise, founded by one of the most famous women in south korea. her parents knuckles turn white when they hold onto her the day of her audition, begging her to make it. she vows to herself that this time itâll work out, sheâll debut.
fastforward.
pressure tells her she shouldnât bother with being an idol. sheâs not skinny enough, her dancing is mediocre at best. they probably have better singers. prettier girls, more typical looks. sheâs self defeating. her boss brings her along to lessons, sheâs in the shadowing phase of her program, learning through experience. the woman seems to be particularly smug today, a secretive smile in the corner of her lips. she wonders why.
she finds out.
opening her mouth to sing in front of the girls is intimidating - theyâre idol trainees, after all. but gyuri is confident only, perhaps, in her voice.
fastforward.
it goes to her head. she takes to the idol life like a fish returned to water. she lives and breathes it. she likes their songs, the choreography is easier and easier as sheâs pushed to practicing until sheâs worn to the bone. a strict diet takes care of the baby fat.
and then -
pause.
they put her in a drama. a stupid, silly, role that means nothing. sheâs good enough though, and people like her face. thatâs most of what matters these days. she gets another offer, and now sheâs got a taste for it. sheâs alright with it, at least. she wants to sing, sure. she wants the stage, true. but sheâs no dancer, and sheâs got a shelf life. she knows how it goes for women in this industry.
of course, there is the typical criticism that always flocks in when an idol attempts to color themself as an actress. yoo gyuri might think herself special enough to escape the same treatment, but she isnât. it is second nature to hear, read, comb through thousands of comments that speak on her voice, her looks, and now her acting. idols should know their place. she should know her place. sheâs a good singer but what business does she have in trying to act? she bites her tongue, holds back wanting to scream.
perhaps itâs selfish, to want to be praised in both fields and yet she continues. there are year, or years, gaps in between, of course. she might think herself an actress but she will always be an idol first. silhouette is top priority and if she ever forgets it, the troll comments will remind her. as the years pass, she continues to do both jobs with high regards to each one.
fastforward.
she wants more. she wants roles that speak to her, she wants something serious. she wants a solo, more, she wants to make music. and sheâs made a name for herself in acting, so they say maybe. maybe weâll bring it out later. focus on whatâs selling, for right now. and she does. she doesnât know how long sheâll be spread thin, like this. she doesnât know even if her opinion will matter in the end, or if it will, as it so often does, come down to what the public sees and knows of her, what the company presents to them.
like sheâs learned from a young age, she tightens her grasp and holds on.

heâs the youngest, and you know what they say about the youngest) ⨠? irresponsible and wild. (like father like son.) his great grandfather built an empire, now a conglomerate that his family still holds power in. nearly 60 years in their family. seyunâs father would have made the 3rd generation to take the helm. only when his grandfather was fit for retirement, his dad blew it off. nothing like nepotism and generational gap to create a distance between filial duties.
seyun grew up hearing about how his father was a disappointment to his father before him. almost as often as he heard about the fact that it left either he or his older brother in line to mop up that spilled milk. maybe it was all the years of being spurned but seyunâs father over the years had receded more than a hairline. in parenting responsibilities (left entirely to seyunâs step mother), in mental and emotional health, and in some measure of his sanity too if the rumors have it.
male father figure? replaced by musicians, who always spoke to him more (metaphorically speaking), comforting him day in and out.
being raised by busy people gives a kid a lot of free time. expanding his mind means learning hobbies like putting on new shoes. none of them catch his fatherâs attention, but thatâs not surprising. just like their family brand doesnât interest sejoon, neither does his own son. but seyun does capture the eye of his grandfather, often spoiled from a young age. even young he catches on that maybe the cookies and cars are less about seyun and more about the empty throne that his no-good father had left collecting dust. grandfather talks about retiring and leaving their family in his hands often (when seyun is just 12 years old), and it becomes an annoying routine.
looking for escapism allots him a lot of mind bending occupations for a kid. once spent a week bottled up in his room painting figurines. itâs the drum sets that nearly get him thrown out of the gigantic estate his family stows away in. empty rooms make for excellent reverb though.
during his âwanna be a rockstarâ phase, he picks up a singer-songwriter mantle, and surprisingly it clicks.
he auditions for multiple companies at 13 and fails. apparently, learning to sing within a year means his talents are not just raw theyâre undercooked. after almost giving up (should he continue his renegade path like his father, or do what his grandfather no doubt wants), he decides to keep fighting his good fight (his father might approve, but his step mother urges him to be more sensible. to give their grandfather the heir that her husband had been afraid to do (she whispers this to him when his father is working like itâs their little secret). seyun hadnât the heart to tell her that he was more like his father than she imagined.
around 15 years old, he tries again to make music work for him. the only of his many hats that seemed to fit the way he liked. his singing voice had barely improved, but what did make leaps and bounds from his last paradigm in disaster auditioning, was his stage presence. the star power he thought he had hidden beneath the veil. though not every company sees his potential, he lands a spot and with it, the courage to continue his winding path.
he comes a long way and grows during his training. the way his group is thrust into the spotlight suits him just fine. more chance to thrive from the chaos, to make something out of nothing and know for sure whether he made the right choice. thatâs still in the air, even when the shit hits the fan. but at least he has the results of his hard work.
a sterling idol career (no, not quite sterling, heâs been sat in the office with a slap on the wrist more than once), and a name for himself. talent that only grows as he nurses it. a burning hole in the center of his chest that refuses to be fed no matter what nourishment he throws at itá ł wait, thatâs not right.
oh. well, we ignore that for now. seyun will just have to worry about that emptiness when he retires. thereâs too much at stake to throw it away now.
what does the 'generation' mean in terms of king of masked singer claims? i don't think i understand it well?
Each time a king is chosen, that's the end of a generation. If you look at the list of King of Mask Singer episodes on Wikipedia, you'll see how certain competitors relate to which generations.
A couple of minor changes to note were made in the interim:
The cost for claiming an OST has been slightly raised.
Songs released solely on Soundcloud/YouTube are no longer claimable. Music claims must have been released on at least one of the following platforms officially: Melon, Genie, Spotify, or Apple Music.
Muses cannot have creative claims on songs by other muses written by the same mun.
Reminder to please not feel the need to rush to send claims in. I know a rush of some sort is inevitable, but claims might get reviewed at a faster pace if a ton donât all come flooding in at once. Thank you!
