I’m sitting at the table with a friend of the family that was over for dinner. And we were eating food. A little bit of background I’m an overweight African American female actress that lives in Utah. An extremely Caucasian based state. Anyway we were eating and I was scrolling through Facebook (let’s not mention that fact) and I saw an audition post for the lion witch and the wardrobe. I thought it was interesting and they were accepting anywhere from 9-70 so I thought I would look.

Anywho as I was looking it dawned on me I couldn’t get any other part other than ensemble. (Not that ensembles bad I’m always in ensemble and I honestly prefer it, you have more time with others) And I sighed because any of the other roles they were looking for people that were 30’s and up to play everyone but the ensemble and the siblings. So I in my snarky sing song voice, (note I may possibly have bronchitis’s so it’s barely existing rn let alone very sing songish).

“There’s no diversity in Utah so I can’t be a sibling because there’s no way in heeeellll they could get three other black kids to be in their show.” And I looked up and the woman sitting across from me was laughing so hard her face was bright red and she had to gasp for air.

Then she paused “you know,” she said “that’s something I’ve never had to think about. Though I will say I do have a diverse grade.”

(She’s a teacher) and then we started laughing again.

So I’m on a trip with a group of people and I let some of my roommates read something I wrote on a whim. No editing, no looking, or revising it. And I told them this, and all they said was it was too much like a bad fan fiction (it wasn’t a fanfic btw) and too dramatic. And I am now questioning my writing and I’m terrible at it. And I love feedback even if it’s terrible, but online where I can go over and revise it and cry and then add on to it. And then respond and consider the critiques.

I LOVE your Hades moodboard. I always identify my husband with Hades, but he's not a suit and tie guy... more like long hair and reptiles and metal. If you made another Hades board with a more rough-around-the-edges aesthetic, I'd freak.
