I'm so glad you set this up!!! Figuring out how to fit in with the NEW canon + fanon, without the fears of the old canon + fanon-- well!! I just!!! Am super happy!!!!!! With that said-- any tips for making True Leo (or, really, any of the True signs!) your own when designing fantrolls?
Making your own true sign has kinda always been a very strange topic because many people got mad at others for making a fantroll with the same sign as an existing troll, but since true signs came out it would be much easier to do it! Though making a true sign fantroll doesn’t affect much, it is the same as picking any other sign for a fantroll that has already been used in canon.
First of all, most trolls have some sort of theme, it makes it 10x easier to have something to loosly base them on, and if they are in a fansession then having a running theme makes it a lot more fun to write in my experience.
Making a true sign should be pretty similar to making a normal fantroll, a true leo would be a heart player, derse dreamer, and a olive blood so it would probably have the personality points of those three things mixed, though with the class they have you can still be extremely creative! Especially if you have a class that mirrors the opposite class like a Prince of Heart or Bard of Heart.
The first thing to always flesh out for a fantroll is a personality, remember the class and aspect both have a main personality but you can still add creativity onto it, and even if you were making a heart player and they ended up a lot more like a mind player you could make them a Prince or Bard which would mean they act more like mind while destroying heart. Olive bloods usually are very 1 or 100 from what we’ve seen, really sweet or really violent, really calm or really energetic, etc.
Usually after I make a trolls base personality (which you can add more onto and go more into detail on later) I pick a lusus for them, remember most trolls are at least minorly influenced by their lusus so I don’t think someone with a violent bear that rips trolls to shreds for fun as their lusus is gonna be chill and sweet and soft. It helps flesh out personality and how someone has grown up.
After that I would usually either pick to do their backstory or where they live, it matters how you want those two things to interact, so I am gonna focus on backstory. If your character has some sort of mutation that should get them culled atleast have a small idea of how they survived the caverns, a true leo would be in the middle of the hemospectrum, meaning that they wouldn’t be under the most threat, drones wouldn’t particularly go after them like they are seen doing in hiveswap to rust bloods, but they don’t have many priveledges compared to highbloods.
Their backstory should tie into were they live, if your troll almost freezed to death from being tied outside their hive by a bunch of highbloods when they were 4 sweeps old for an entire night their hive shouldn’t be in a hot place. And if your troll lives in an extremely hot place then they shouldn’t wear 16 layers of clothing 24/7 without a specified reason (and an explanation of how they don’t get heatstroke and pass out)
After all of those things you are ready to design how they look, this should be affected by a mix of their climate, their fashion sense, their personality, their backstory, and their job (depending on what it is). Like I said above, make your trolls clothing be accurate to climate, you don’t see people in the middle of winter in alaska wearing sandals and a bikini, and you don’t see people in the dead heat of texas wearing a snow jacket and carrying around ski equipment. Their fashion sense should also tie into what they wear, even though there is still a clear style for trolls of dark tones and showing off their blood color, there is still a lot of different things you can do to an outfit. Next is personality, I don’t wanna see someone who is awkward and doesn’t want to catch many peoples attention and wants to be alone wearing a badazzled ball gown everywhere. Backstory is a less big one but it is more of make sure to have scars on them if they were cut or injured a lot, and if they had their hair forcibly cut off recently it will probably be quite short still, job is more free range and most olives whos jobs have been shown are hunters or assassins, and 57% of the olive bloods we have seen break laws in some sort of way, so take that into mind
After that designing them should be pretty easy! Hope this could help I took a long time writing it! I am working on a post just explaining in general how to create a fantroll!
