I can't tell if people here expect nearly all asian ppl they meet to speak mandarin, or if i look like i would speak mandarin

ngl china has been underwhelming culturally... it's just like the rest of the world, except chinese

What I've learned so far:

1. Don't layer things that could go wrong, like jet lag, new country, and drinking

2. Secure belongings at all times

3. Don't rush, because that'll make it take longer to spot and reverse mistakes

4. Take mistakes in stride. It's part of the experience

You know what, maybe sometimes you need to fail really hard just to know that even failure's not that bad. Then you can stop sweating the small stuff

This is about me leaving my wallet on the plane and having to deal with apps for an hour to figure out how to pay my taxi driver
