If you refuse to leave something wrong for the fear of ‘losing out’ on your happiness, you have doubted in His Power to replace it with something that is much better and comforting for you in this world and the next.

The day of Arafah
Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of 'Arafah. He said, "It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year."
When I need God most, He comes to me the fastest and closest. When I need the creation most, they run from me the fastest and farthest.

The Prophet ﷺ said “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” The people asked , “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause (of Allah), and came back with nothing.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
5 things to do even if you’re not making hajj
1. Fasting - The Prophet ﷺ said fasting the day of Arafah removes the sins of two years. The previous year and the year to come.
2. Dhikr/The remembrance of Allah - SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, AllahuAkbar
Takbir - AllahuAkbar AllahuAkbar AllahuAkbar La ilaha illa-llah AllahuAkbar AllahuAkbar AllahuAkbar wa la ilaha wa lillahi hamd Encourage others to recite this out loud.
3. Dua’ - The prophet ﷺ said the best dua is the dua’ of Arafah. Implies not only for those making hajj. Make as much supplication as possible.
4. Kurbani - The person who is doing the sacrifice is resembling the person who is in the state of ihram while they’re making hajj.
5. Controlling our speech/being aware of our tong - the is no dispute or argumentation during hajj. We should be making a special effort to control our tong and be careful of what we say and only say what is good, to please Allah swt.
And Allah knows best
"When you’re in need, in pain or confused, don’t speak. Listen. Listen for the duaa He inspires in your heart. And then ask. Beg. And don’t stop begging."
