This is just a little thing that popped into my head about (my beloved) Elysia, and I had to get it out lmao.
WARNINGS: grief and suicidal thoughts.
I can't imagine the anguish and devastation of Elysia losing Keres, who was her flesh and blood. Conquest, who was dear to her, and who she thought she was changing for the better. Then Nolan, whom she thought was the change she'd been seeking. And then Thragg, the man she tried to make see that revenge was not the way forward, only for him to discard her as a traitor.
Imagine trying to keep those you love alive, only to watch them all die, while you remain. While you endure. Until it's only you, and the daughter who looks so much like her father that it scares you. For a time, there is no one else, because you don't let them get close.
But, when the stars align, when Elysia finally finds love again, she doesn't hold him as close because: "Everything I touch, everything I love, dies."
And it breaks Kregg's heart to hear her say it, because he knows the details. He's seen firsthand how her empty stare lingers on black holes a little too long. He saw the way her skin singed and bubbled on the sun's surface right before he pulled her away. Afterward, he felt her punches and her screaming at him for dragging her away, for not letting her die. But he's patient; he endures it for her and says he loves her regardless, because he does. And he will show her in any way he can; he'll say it until she finally believes it.
canon!elysia trying and failing to save thragg, having to watch him die. then when she returns to earth alone she hears this song, she breaks down in the darkness of her bedroom. she has lost keres, conquest, and now thragg. she feels like the ultimate failure.
when kregg brings elena home from a playdate, elysia is disheveled. he doesn't need to ask what's wrong, he already knows by the empty look in her eyes. elysia confesses that the real reason she left elena with him was that she wanted the sun to take her too. she tells him she got close enough to singe the tips of her fingers, to feel her blood and flesh bubble under the waves of heat. that the only relief she'd felt in the past few days was being so near death.
but she remembered her daughter's giggle, the way she reached for her and snuggled into her arms. she still lives because of elena. because she doesn't want to miss seeing the woman she becomes, even if it means looking into eyes that mirrored her father's every day.
Thragg & Elysia's first son, Keres. And their daughter, born on Earth shortly after Thragg's capture, named Elena. More yap about them under the cut!
Keres' name is of Greek origin, and it means "evil spirits."
Elena's name is also Greek, and it means "shining light."
Thragg chose Keres' name, and Elysia chose Elena's.
Keres was the firstborn, and he was born thousands of years ahead of Elena. His birth on Viltrum was clinical, as the only ones in the room were the doctors and Thragg. There weren't many words of encouragement shared, only a lot of screams and squeezed hands.
Elena was born on Earth, surrounded by the other Viltrumites who had assimilated. Kregg, or Uncle Kregg as he'd begun to call himself, was there holding Elysia's hand. The other viltrumites swapped words of encouragement and helped wipe away sweat and many, many tears.
Before his untimely death (deserves its own fic, sorry lmao), Keres was a lot like his father. He had compassion for the Viltrumites and wanted what was best for them, but he was cold to all others.
However, since Elena was raised amongst humans, she cares about them a great deal, while also wanting them to coexist with Viltrumites.
Elena has her mother's strength and speed.
Keres didn't have his mother's speed, but he made up for it by hitting much harder, like his father.
The family's heights, for comparison:
This may be the first of many yap fests about this fucked up little family, but uh... That's it for now!
(I couldn't decide which fic to do this with, so I chose the untitled mkx one I'm working on currently lmao)
Tagging: anyone who wants to share somethin!
Aella feels the electricity wreak havoc on her body, frying her attempts to heal herself or her allies, and dropping her like dead weight onto the bloody sand. She faintly hears the cleric’s voice as her vision subsides.
“Red Dragons! Take Reiko’s body to the flesh pits for revival. Escort our guests to their seats in the throne room, and corral the Outworlders and Tarkata who came with them in the dungeon!”
