ok i am 100% supportive of a bit of achilles and patroclus here and a bit of apollo and hyacinthus there, but i really wish people would acknowledge the beautifully tragic wlw relationships in greek mythology too. for example, athena once fell in love with a daughter of triton, pallas. they were absolutely infatuated with each other and they did everything together, but their favorite thing was fighting (athena goddess of war obvs). one day they were having a particularly homoerotic swordfight when zeus noticed that pallas had the upper hand over athena, and distracted her out of fear for his daughter. athena was expecting pallas to dodge but she didn’t, and accidentally impaled her. athena was so distraught that she literally took pallas’ name as an epithet and if that isn’t the most beautiful shit ever i’m-
