      “Sorry, no, I didn’t mean -- I wasn’t trying to -- I just thought you were someone else. I’m -- I’m really sorry.”

      Faye had just finished locking up the shop for the night, when she turned around and nearly jumped out of her skin. Heart beating wildly, she pressed a hand against her chest and slumped against the wall, meeting the eyes of the person that had managed to sneak up behind her. “Merlin. Do you always skulk around in the shadows?”

“Has anyone ever told you that you’re very awkward?” Pollux asked suddenly, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. “Because it’s true. I don’t mean to be harsh, I’m just rather honest. But my day is fine, great even. I’m guessing here the rather polite thing to do would be to ask about your day, right?”

      Faye felt her cheeks flush. “One or two. Or, well, most people, really. Sorry, it’s just how I am, but I can -- I can try not to be... as awkward. No promises, though. Oh, that’s good! I am... I am also good. For the most part, I mean, I don't know if anyone is truly good these days, considering the current global situation, but, yeah. Mostly fine."

“Of course I‘m okay, Duchess. Why wouldn’t I be? Got my firewhisky, got a beautiful girl talking to me.”

      “.... Right. That’s -- that’s good.” Faye was a bit surprised at the turn in the conversation, and her flustered state became clear by her flushed face. “So I don’t need to, like, take the firewhiskey away from you, yeah?”

Seraphina furrowed her eyebrows, feigning scrutiny as she decided to magnanimously skip vocalizing an insult. It was all too easy to compare the girl’s open then closed mouth to the likeness of a goldfish. “Pray tell, HOW do you get from Point A to Point B with all that … stuff in the middle?”

      Faye was, if she could say so herself, quite brilliant at her job. She’d been working at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes during the holidays since her fifth year, and had been working there full-time after she graduated Hogwarts. She had come up her fair share of inventions in her time, and her new idea held many promises of success, but as she stood there she could feel her mind go blank and her cheek flush. “Through -- through trial and error, that’s sort of, I mean, that’s part of the job, really. You have to experiment, try it out for a while. It doesn’t just come on the first try.”

      Faye opened and closed her mouth a few times, at a loss for words and more affected by the insult than she'd like to admit. “I    I mean, that’s kind of... just because I think outside the box doesn't mean it's a stupid idea. It's just... UNCONVENTIONAL."

“I’d offer you a drink, but to be frank, I don’t like you.”

      “Oh. Well, that’s, I mean, I don’t really drink anyways, so...” Faye stammered, before furrowing her brows. "Are you... like, okay, though?"

“I don’t see how THAT is of any of your business, to be quite frank. It’s kind of like asking a female their weight ; just plain r u d e. Don’t you think?”

      “I     I mean, I’d reckon asking ANYONE what they weigh is super uncool in general, unless you’re, like, their Healer or someone,” Faye responded, stumbling over her words before she sucked in her bottom lip. "... But I guess I can see... your point. So... forget I asked? Let's just erase this question for our memory, and like... uh. How is your day going?"
