one of the most painful things about f1 focussing on mclaren as WCC champions and completely ignoring max’s WDC win is that it’s MORE impressive that he did it in the #3 car, but they’re acting like because he didn’t win the WCC, he didn’t win anything at all

for me at least, I think the reason why all this imitation of max’s trademarks and chatter about ‘statements’ being made rubs so poorly is because it feels less about the win itself and more about making an example of max. it seems clear that the media, specifically, have viewed max’s dominance as an insult which they’ve been forced to endure for the past years and now they are leaping at the chance to put max in his place. there’s this disconcerting glee about it. they enjoy rubbing salt in the wound with it being max’s home gp. it’s about making a show of the fact that max is human and beatable after all. it’s a bonus that their saviour is british, obviously, but all this vitriol and gloating is very personal.

he deigned to take up space at the head of the sport when they didn’t deign him worthy of it, and now we’re seeing them punish him for that. which is fucked because all he ever did was drive better than everybody else.

my coworker, who is turning 50, said the best thing to me today..... he was talking about how he remembers when lewis was the first driver to really be a "celebrity" and get in on the fashion trends, celeb girlfriends, met gala, etc etc. and i'm thinking he's gonna say something uncool abt the young drivers or something but then he goes "and i'm just so glad that this new generation of drivers are all..... really weird." and he is so right. they are so weird and it rocks

Brad Pitt's new movie released it's first poster!!!!Wow! So cool!!! Anyway reminder that Brad Pitt physically assaulted Angelina Jolie and his kids on a plane (deliberately so that they had nowhere to run) he choked multiple of his children when they tried to defend their mother and spent the next few hours emptying the planes bottles of beer and red wine on their fucking heads. His kids are literally filing to have his last name dropped before they even turn 18.

Also reminder that Brad Pitt, who both stars in and is producing the film, is banking on YOU as a motorsport fan to be a built-in audience for this project. Don't do it. Seeing a cameo of the drivers for a few seconds is not worth the moral forfeit of giving this literal monster your money.
