Summary: At 21, Y/N joins FC Barcelona as one of the brightest prospects in world football. Reserved and unaccustomed to fame, she quickly feels isolated in an already tight-knit locker room. As a joke, several players challenge Kika to become the closest person to Y/N before the end of the season. Kika accepts without hesitation. But what begins as a simple game gradually transforms into something much more real. As the two players fall in love, a secret threatens to destroy everything. When Y/N discovers the bet, her confidence crumbles. At the same Time, an English club tries to sign her. Between betrayal, regret, and a second chance, Kika will have to fight to prive that her feeling are genuine.
The days following that conversation in the stands were different.
Not better.
Not yet.
But different.
For the first time since everything had blown up, Y/N no longer automatically avoided Kika.
She didn't seek her out.
She barely spoke to her.
But she didn't vanish the moment she saw her coming.
And for Kika, that was already a huge step.
As for the team, the atmosphere was strange.
No one really dared to bring up the subject.
But everyone knew.
Some players blamed themselves.
Others sincerely regretted that stupid bet made months earlier.
And above all, everyone saw the effect this situation had had on the two players.
Y/N wasn't the same anymore.
Neither was Kika.
One morning, after a video analysis session, Pere Romeu spoke up.
-In two weeks, we play the Champions League final.
The room instantly focused.
The final.
The most important match of their season so far.
A match capable of changing everything.
The coach continued:
-If we want to win, we have to be flawless as a team.
No one answered.
But several glances drifted discreetly toward Kika and Y/N.
Because everyone was thinking the same thing.
After the meeting, Y/N was packing up her things when a voice spoke up behind her.
-Can you wait a minute?
She froze.
Kika.
Again.
She hesitated.
Then, finally, gave a slight nod.
Moments later, they found themselves alone in an empty hallway.
Silence fell immediately.
As it always did these days.
Y/N crossed her arms.
-What do you want?
The question was cold.
But less cold than before.
Kika noticed it.
-I just wanted to know how you were doing.
Y/N frowned.
-Seriously?
-Yeah, I know you're the type to get stressed, so I wanted to make sure you were okay.
The answer caught Y/N off guard.
Because it was sincere.
Simple.
And it wasn't about trying to get something out of her.
For a few seconds, she couldn't find a reply.
Then she looked away.
-I have to go.
-Okay.
Kika didn't hold her back.
This time.
That same evening, Y/N went home with a strange feeling.
She was still hurt, still angry.
But something was starting to change.
And she hated it.
Because she didn't want to forgive so quickly.
She didn't want to forget.
Yet, despite her best efforts, certain memories kept coming back.
The good memories.
Not the bad ones.
And that was the problem.
A few days later, during a tactical training session, the team was split into several groups.
By chance (or perhaps not entirely), Kika and Y/N ended up on the same team.
The first two minutes were a disaster.
They avoided each other almost instinctively.
Then, something clicked back into place naturally.
A pass.
Then another.
A movement.
A glance.
Just like before.
Without thinking.
As if their connection on the court existed independently of everything else.
At the end of the drill, the coach shook his head, smiling.
-That's it! Our super duo is finally back. Keep it up that's exactly what I want to see.
Neither Kika nor Y/N replied.
But both of them knew he was right.
The night before the final, the team stayed at the hotel.
The atmosphere was more tense than usual.
Some players were playing cards to relax.
Others were watching movies.
Y/N, meanwhile, had stepped out onto a terrace overlooking the city.
She gazed at the distant lights.
Lost in thought.
-I'm starting to think you really like being alone.
That voice.
Again.
Always.
Y/N let out a sigh.
-You're everywhere.
-I'll take that as a compliment.
Despite herself, a smile appeared on Y/N's lips.
A very faint one.
But real.
And Kika noticed it immediately.
This time, she remained standing beside her.
Without moving any closer.
Without seeking physical contact.
-Are you stressed about tomorrow? Kika asked.
-A little.
-Me too.
-It doesn't show.
-I'm an excellent actress.
-That's not true.
For the first time in weeks, they laughed together.
A brief laugh.
But sincere.
And for a few seconds, everything seemed to go back to normal.
Like before.
Then silence returned.
Softer this time.
-I still think about you.
The words slipped out before Kika could hold them back.
Y/N's heart immediately tightened.
She kept looking out at the city.
Without moving.
-Kika...
-I know. Her voice was trembling slightly. I know I have no right to ask anything of you. I know I hurt you. I know all that.
A long silence.
-But I still think about you every day.
Y/N closed her eyes.
Because a part of her had been waiting for those words.
Even though she didn't want to admit it.
-Why are you telling me this now?
-Because I don't want to lie anymore.
The answer hung between them.
Simple.
Brutal.
Sincere.
For several seconds, neither spoke.
Then Y/N finally whispered:
-I miss you too.
Kika's breath caught.
Completely.
She slowly turned her head toward her.
As if to verify she had heard correctly.
But Y/N was still looking at the city lights.
Her eyes shining.
-And that's what's driving me crazy, she confessed. Because I'm still angry. And I also miss you.
Kika felt her eyes well up.
For the first time in weeks, she glimpsed a crack in the wall Y/N had built.
A tiny crack.
But a crack nonetheless.
The next day, they would play the final.
The most important match of their season.
But for Kika, something even more important had just happened.
For the first time since the discovery of the bet...
Y/N had just opened the door to her, ever so slightly.
And she was determined to do whatever it took to keep it from ever closing again.
The final arrived sooner than expected.
The stadium was packed.
The atmosphere was electric.
But in Y/N's mind, football was almost taking a back seat.
Since her conversation with Kika the day before, something had changed.
Not completely.
The pain was still there.
The anger, too.
But for the first time in weeks, she had agreed to listen to what her heart kept telling her over and over.
She missed Kika.
Terribly.
The match was intense.
Like all finals.
The two teams went blow for blow.
Neither side wanted to give an inch.
With twenty minutes left, the score remained deadlocked.
Then, everything changed.
Y/N won the ball in midfield.
Instinctively, she looked up.
And spotted Kika.
Just like hundreds of times before.
For a split second, they locked eyes.
And despite everything that had happened...
The connection was still there.
Y/N delivered a perfect pass.
Kika controlled the ball.
A shot.
A goal.
The stadium erupted.
Players ran in every direction.
And without a second thought, Kika turned immediately toward Y/N.
Their eyes met.
Again.
Always.
This time, Y/N didn't look away.
Barça won the final.
The celebrations began immediately.
But before even joining the others, several players approached Y/N.
Their faces were serious.
Which was rare.
Very rare.
Cata spoke first.
-We need to tell you something.
Y/N remained silent.
-We're sorry.
Vicky nodded.
-Really sorry.
-The bet was stupid.
-We never thought it would go this far.
-And above all...
Claudia lowered her eyes.
-We should have told you.
The group fell silent for a few seconds.
Then one of them added:
-Kika made a mistake. A huge mistake. But so did we. Because we let it happen.
Y/N's eyes welled up slightly.
For the first time since discovering the truth, no one tried to downplay what had happened.
No one made excuses.
They owned it.
All of them.
-She really loves you.
The words came from Cata a player usually incapable of being serious for more than thirty seconds.
And that was precisely why they resonated with Y/N.
-We see it every day.
-For a long time.
-Far too long.
A few nervous laughs broke out.
Then silence returned.
-We just wanted you to know.
Y/N looked at each of them.
Then she nodded slowly.
-Thank you.
Later that evening, as the celebrations continued in the locker room, Y/N finally left the room.
She needed to think.
Again.
Always.
She found herself alone in a stadium corridor.
A few seconds later, a familiar voice rang out behind her.
-I don't think I'm capable of going anywhere without following you.
Y/N closed her eyes.
A smile appeared despite herself.
Then she turned around.
Kika was there.
As always.
But this time, she seemed more nervous than Y/N had ever seen her.
-Did they talk to you? Kika asked.
-Yes.
-I see.
Silence settled in.
A different kind of silence.
Less painful.
Less heavy.
-Kika...
Her voice was soft.
And that was enough to make Kika's heart beat faster.
-Yes? Y/N took a deep breath. I was angry with you. A lot.
Kika nodded slowly.
-I know.
-I was hurt.
-I know.
-And I'm not sure I've completely forgiven you.
That sentence hurt, but Kika accepted it.
Because it was honest.
Because it was deserved.
Then Y/N continued
-But despite all that... Her voice trembled slightly. I never stopped loving you.
For a few seconds, Kika stood frozen.
As if her brain refused to believe what it had just heard.
Then, her eyes immediately filled with tears.
-Are you serious? she whispered.
Y/N let out a soft laugh.
-It's the most serious thing I've ever said.
And that was the final barrier.
The last bit of resistance.
The final wall.
Kika moved closer, slowly.
As if afraid it might all vanish.
As if this moment might be a dream.
-I love you, too. For a long time. For far too long.
Y/N smiled.
And for the first time in weeks, that smile truly reached her eyes.
Kika gently raised a hand toward her face.
Hesitant.
As if asking for silent permission.
Y/N didn't pull away.
Quite the opposite.
She leaned in closer.
A few centimeters.
Then a few more.
And finally, their lips met.
A tender kiss.
Sincere.
Unrushed.
Fearless.
A kiss that felt more like a promise than an ending.
When they pulled apart, they stayed there, foreheads touching.
Smiling like fools.
Like two people who had finally found what they thought they'd lost.
-So? A voice suddenly asked from behind them.
Both of them jumped.
The whole team was standing at the end of the hallway.
Of course.
Because they were incapable of respecting a romantic moment.
-How long have you been spying on us? Kika demanded indignantly.
-Long enough.
-Way too long.
-We deserve to see the ending after everything we've been through.
Laughter erupted instantly.
Even Y/N ended up laughing.
And that laughter... It was probably the greatest victory of the night.
Later, as they lifted the trophy surrounded by their teammates, Y/N felt Kika's hand find hers.
Naturally.
As if she had never needed to let go.
This time, she held her gently.
And Kika smiled.
Because after the mistakes.
After the secrets.
After the tears.
They had finally chosen the same thing.
Love.
And for the first time since the story began... Nothing kept them apart anymore.
The End.

For several weeks, everything seemed perfect.
Y/N had never been happier.
Things were going well with soccer.
The team was racking up wins.
She finally felt like part of the group.
And above all...
There was Kika.
Always Kika.
The morning texts.
The evening calls.
Meals together.
Training sessions.
The glances.
The smiles.
And, most of all, the hugs and kisses.
Everything felt natural.
As if they had always been meant to find each other.
For the first time in a long while, Y/N truly felt like she belonged.
And that was precisely what made the situation so dangerous.
Because the happier she was, the harder the fall would be.
For her part, Kika lived in a state of constant anxiety.
With each passing day, the secret became harder to bear.
She had tried to tell the truth several times.
Really.
Several times.
But with every attempt, she would picture the look on Y/N's face.
Her disappointment.
Her anger.
And the words would get stuck in her throat.
So she kept putting it off.
Again.
And again.
Hoping to find the right moment.
Without realizing that the right moment no longer existed.
One Thursday afternoon, the team had a light training session.
Several players stayed at the training center after the drills ended.
Some were chatting.
Others were recovering indoors.
Y/N, however, had left her phone in the locker room.
She went back alone.
The room seemed empty and silent.
At least, until she heard voices coming from the nearby hallway.
She wasn't trying to listen.
Not at first.
Then, a name caught her attention.
Her own.
-Honestly, I thought Kika would give up a lot sooner.
A laugh.
-Me too.
-In the end, she easily won the bet.
Y/N stopped dead in her tracks.
The bet.
Her heart suddenly slowed down.
Or maybe it sped up.
She couldn't tell.
She stood motionless.
Instinctively.
-After all this time they've been together...
-Yeah, but now she's actually in love.
-Thank goodness, because otherwise it would have been awful.
A silence.
Then, another voice.
-Can you imagine the look on Y/N's face if she found out it all started because of a dare?
The world seemed to stop.
Completely.
Y/N felt her stomach knot.
Her breath grew shallow.
Her hands trembled slightly.
No. No. Not this.
Not Kika.
Not them.
Not all of this.
She left the hallway immediately.
Without a sound.
Without thinking.
She grabbed her phone.
Then she walked out of the building.
As fast as she could.
She needed air.
Needed to think.
Needed to understand.
The words kept spinning in her head.
The bet.
The dare.
Winning.
It had all started because of that.
Everything.
Their first conversations.
Going out together.
The messages.
The kiss.
The feelings.
Everything.
Part of her refused to believe it.
But another part suddenly remembered certain details.
The strange smiles from several players.
Jokes she had never understood.
Glances exchanged when she arrived.
And above all...
Kika's sometimes odd behavior when certain teammates were mentioned.
As if she were hiding something.
That very evening, Kika sent her several messages.
None of them got a reply.
Then she called.
Once. Twice. Three times.
Still nothing.
Worry began to set in immediately.
Because Y/N always answered.
Always.
Around ten o'clock, there was a knock at Y/N's apartment door.
She already knew who it was.
Of course.
She opened the door anyway.
Kika was standing there.
Clearly worried.
-Finally.
No smile.
No joking around.
Kika realized immediately that something was wrong. Seriously wrong.
-What's going on?
Y/N stared at her.
For a long time. Too long.
Then she asked a single question.
What was that business about a bet?
Kika's face went pale.
Instantly.
As if all the blood had drained from her body.
And that reaction gave Y/N her answer right away.
The silence that followed was interminable.
Kika lowered her eyes.
A mistake.
Because it confirmed everything.
Absolutely everything.
-Y/N...
-No.
Her voice trembled.
Not with anger.
Not yet.
Simply with pain.
-Tell me it's not true.
Kika felt her heart break.
Because she couldn't do it.
She couldn't lie.
Not this time.
-At the beginning...
Y/N immediately closed her eyes.
As if those two words were already enough.
-At the beginning?
-Let me explain.
-Explain what?
Her voice finally rose.
-Explain that the whole team knew?
-Y/N...
-Explain that I was a dare?
-No!
The answer was immediate. Almost desperate.
You weren't a dare.
-That's what I heard, though.
-It hasn't been that way for a long time.
-But it was.
Kika remained silent.
And that silence was worse than anything.
Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes.
Not many.
Just enough to show how much she was hurting.
-Do you realize?
Kika felt her throat tighten.
-Yes.
-No. You don't realize.
Y/N shook her head.
-I left everything to come here. Everything. My family. My friends. My country. And when I finally started to trust someone...
She stopped, unable to finish her sentence.
-I'm sorry.
Kika stepped closer.
Y/N took a step back.
-Don't say that.
-I'm truly sorry.
-You should have told me.
-I know.
-Right from the start.
-I know.
-Then why didn't you do it?
This time, Kika found no answer.
No good answer.
Because there wasn't one.
A long silence settled in.
Then Y/N took a deep breath.
-I need you to leave.
Kika felt her heart sink.
-Please.
-Y/N...
-Leave.
Her voice cracked slightly.
-Please.
Kika realized then that she had already lost.
For now, at least.
She nodded slowly.
Her eyes glistening.
Then she backed away toward the door.
Before leaving, she whispered one last sentence.
-Everything I felt was real. Y/N immediately looked away.
As if hearing those words hurt even more.
Then the door closed.
And for the first time since they met, they were alone.
Truly alone.
On opposite sides of a truth that had just destroyed everything they had built.
And neither knew yet if their story could survive the night.
The door had just closed.
And yet, Y/N felt as though Kika were still there.
In the living room.
In the hallway.
Everywhere.
Her scent still lingered in the air.
Her voice still echoed in her head.
-Everything I felt was real.
Y/N clenched her jaw.
She hated that sentence.
Because a part of her wanted to believe it.
And that was precisely what hurt the most.
She barely slept that night.
Every time she closed her eyes, memories came flooding back.
Their first conversation.
Their first date.
The restaurant.
The beach.
The kiss.
All those moments she had considered sincere.
All those moments that now seemed different.
Distorted.
Tainted by that secret.
Around four in the morning, she finally turned off her phone.
She didn't want to see any messages.
No notifications.
Especially not from Kika.
Meanwhile, Kika hadn't left her couch since she got back.
She was simply staring at the wall in front of her.
Without really seeing it.
Her phone rested in her hand.
An open conversation.
The conversation with Y/N.
Hundreds of messages.
Photos.
Jokes.
Memories.
And now, silence.
A silence she had created herself.
For the first time in a long while, she deeply regretted something.
Not the bet.
She had regretted that from the very beginning.
No.
She regretted not having the courage to tell the truth sooner.
Because deep down, she knew Y/N was right.
She should have talked to her.
Right from the start.
The next morning, practice was a nightmare.
For both of them.
Y/N arrived early.
As always.
But this time, she chose to change at home.
She carefully avoided any place where she might run into Kika.
Unfortunately, it was impossible.
Because they played on the same team.
Because they shared the same pitch.
Because they had spent months building habits that couldn't be undone overnight.
When Kika finally stepped onto the field, her eyes immediately sought out Y/N.
As always.
And when she found her, something inside her shattered.
Because Y/N immediately looked away.
The other players quickly realized something had happened.
Very quickly.
The atmosphere was strange.
Tense.
Heavy.
And no one needed to be a genius to understand why.
Some felt guilty right away.
Others didn't understand why the atmosphere had become so tense.
During the break, no one dared approach Y/N.
She sat alone in the stands.
Her gaze lost in the distance.
For several minutes.
Then, someone came to sit beside her.
Clara.
One of the girls with whom Y/N had managed to form a special bond upon her arrival.
-Y/N...
No response.
-I'm sorry.
This time, Y/N turned her head.
-Did you know?
-No, but Claudia told me everything when I noticed you looked sad.
Y/N lowered her eyes.
And that hurt even more.
Because she now realized the magnitude of the situation.
A few dozen meters away, Kika watched the scene.
Motionless.
Unable to move.
Unable to look away.
Part of her wanted to run over to Y/N.
To speak to her.
To apologize again.
Another part knew she no longer had the right.
Not now.
Perhaps never.
The following days were even worse.
Y/N didn't answer any messages.
Or any calls.
She spoke only when necessary.
Only for soccer.
Only for the team.
Nothing else.
Every smile had vanished.
Every laugh, too.
And everyone noticed.
Especially Kika.
Because she was the only one who knew how radiant Y/N could be when she was happy.
And she was also the reason that light had disappeared.
A week later, the team played an important match.
One of those matches where every detail counts.
One of those matches where cohesion often makes the difference.
But this time, something was missing.
Their connection.
That natural understanding that used to exist between them.
Time and again, Kika looked for Y/N on the pitch.
Time and again, Y/N ignored her.
And for the first time in a long while, they seemed to be playing in two different worlds.
Barça won, nonetheless.
But no one really celebrated.
After the match, as the stadium gradually emptied, Y/N remained alone in the stands for a few moments.
She gazed out at the pitch.
Lost in thought.
-Can I sit down?
Her heart immediately tightened.
She recognized that voice.
Of course.
Kika.
Y/N didn't answer.
But she didn't ask her to leave, either.
So Kika sat down.
A few seats away.
Not too close.
As if afraid of encroaching on a space she had once naturally occupied.
The silence lasted a long time.
A very long time.
Then, Kika finally spoke.
-I'm not going to try to defend myself.
Y/N remained motionless.
-Because there's nothing to defend.
Kika's voice trembled slightly.
-I made a mistake... A huge mistake. And I understand why you're angry with me.
Y/N's eyes welled up despite herself.
But she refused to cry.
Not in front of her. Not now.
-Then why are you here?
The question came out as a whisper.
Kika lowered her eyes.
Then answered honestly.
-Because I miss you.
Silence fell again immediately.
And for a second, Y/N hated that answer.
Because it was sincere.
Because it hurt.
And above all, because deep down... She missed Kika too.
Much more than she wanted to admit.
But the wound was still too fresh.
Too deep.
So she stood up.
Without a word.
And left the stands.
Leaving Kika alone behind her.
With a glimmer of hope.
Because for the first time since that night...
Y/N hadn't asked her to leave.
And sometimes, in a broken story, that is how the mending begins.
The Bet (Part 3 of 5)

The problem with Kika was that she didn't always think before acting.
And the problem with Y/N was exactly the opposite: she thought far too much.
That was probably why they got along so well.
Or perhaps why they were bound to end up complicating their lives.
A few days had passed since the trip to Wolfsburg.
Since the journey where Y/N had fallen asleep against Kika's shoulder.
Since that strange moment when their eyes had locked for a little too long and Kika's face had been so close to Y/N's.
Neither of them had brought up what had happened.
But neither had forgotten it.
Certainly not Kika, because she was starting to realize something very awkward.
She loved spending time with Y/N far too much, and it no longer had anything to do with the bet.
Practice was winding down when Kika spotted Y/N alone near the field.
The other players were already heading to the locker room.
But not her.
Y/N was still working, this time on her running speed.
-Why do you always train more than the others?
Y/N looked up.
-Because I have something to prove, and I need to work even harder than I already do.
-You really can't just go home like a normal person, can you?
-I could say the same about you. What are *you* still doing here?
-I came to get you.
Y/N frowned.
-Get me?
-Yeah.
-Why?
Kika smiled.
-Because we're going out tonight.
-What?
-We're going out, so go take a shower. I'll be waiting by my car.
-What about my opinion? You can't just decide that on your own.
-Well, I just did.
Y/N laughed at Kika's confidence.
-You're impossible.
-Thanks.
-That wasn't a compliment.
-I know.
Two hours later, they met up downtown.
This time, Kika had refused to tell her where they were going.
-You're in a mysterious mood today.
-It's my adventurous side.
-So, what's the occasion for this invitation?
-Nothing, I just wanted to spend the evening with you.
-You're cute.
The remark slipped out before Y/N could stop it.
Kika, for her part, thought it was adorable.
They eventually arrived at a small restaurant overlooking the sea, a quiet spot with a magnificent view.
-So? Kika asked.
-It's lovely.
-I knew you'd like it.
-You really thought this all through before inviting me, didn't you?
For a moment, Kika seemed thrown off balance, because she *had* indeed thought carefully about the perfect place to take Y/N.
The meal lasted several hours.
The conversation flowed naturally.
For the first time, they touched upon more personal subjects.
Their families.
Their fears.
The sacrifices they had made to get where they were.
The moments when they had thought about giving up.
Y/N spoke more than she ever had before.
And Kika listened.
Truly listened.
Without interrupting.
Without making jokes.
Simply attentive.
Which was rare for her.
Very rare.
-You know... Y/N hesitated.
-What?
-When I first got here... I was scared.
Kika looked at her.
-I know.
-No. You don't understand.
Y/N lowered her eyes to her glass.
-I was afraid I wouldn't measure up. Afraid of ending up alone. Afraid that everyone would realize I didn't deserve my spot.
Kika's smile vanished.
-No one thinks that.
-I do.
-Then you're wrong.
The reply was immediate.
Natural.
Sincere.
After the meal, they walked along the beach.
Night had fallen.
The sound of the waves drowned out almost every other sound from the city.
Their hands touched, and eventually, their fingers interlaced.
For a few minutes, neither spoke.
Then Kika broke the silence.
-I have a question.
-Yes?
-Do you find me annoying?
-Very often, but...
Kika turned her head toward her.
-But?
Y/N smiled.
-I think my days would be a lot more boring without you.
Kika's heart skipped a beat.
Literally.
She quickly looked away toward the sea.
Because she didn't know what to say.
Because that sentence had made her far too happy.
And because she was starting to realize she was falling in love.
Truly.
Later, when they parted ways in front of Y/N's building, neither seemed in a rush to leave.
As was often the case these days.
-Thanks for today.
-You're welcome.
-It was nice.
-I had a great time too.
A silence.
Neither of them moved.
-Well...
-Yeah...
They burst out laughing at the same moment.
And this time, the awkwardness was impossible to ignore.
Because what existed between them no longer had much to do with simple friendship.
They knew it.
Both of them.
Without needing to say it.
Finally, Y/N took a step toward the building entrance.
-See you tomorrow.
-See you tomorrow.
But as she walked away, Kika called out to her one last time.
-Y/N?
-Yeah?
For a second, Kika hesitated.
There was so much she wanted to say.
Far too much.
-Can I kiss you?
Y/N blushed.
-Yes.
Kika felt her heart race.
She noticed then that Y/N had moved slightly closer.
Or maybe it was her?
It was impossible to tell.
The world around them seemed to have vanished.
No more cars,
no more noise, nothing.
Just the two of them.
And that feeling that had been growing for weeks.
Before either of them could change her mind, their lips met.
Gently.
Simply.
A brief kiss.
Tender and almost shy.
When they pulled apart, neither spoke right away.
They stayed there.
Just centimeters apart.
Breathless.
Unable to hold back a smile.
-I think I've wanted to do that for a while. Kika finally admitted.
Y/N let out a soft laugh.
-Me too.
For the first time since arriving in Barcelona, everything seemed incredibly simple.
Neither of them could yet imagine that the secret of the bet was still lurking in the shadows.
And that this perfect moment was at risk of shattering all too soon.
Y/N slept very little that night.
Not because she was stressed.
Not because she was worried.
Quite the opposite.
She was happy.
Ridiculously happy.
Lying in bed, she kept replaying the evening in her mind.
The restaurant.
The walk on the beach.
And above all... That kiss.
Every time she thought about it, a smile would appear despite herself.
She finally drifted off around three in the morning.
Still wearing that same smile.
The next day, Kika wasn't much more rested.
She had spent part of the night pacing around her apartment.
Reliving every second of the evening.
Wondering if she had dreamed it all.
And, above all, trying to understand what was happening to her.
Because now, she could no longer lie to herself.
She was in love.
Completely.
The problem was that this realization came with another thought.
A much less pleasant one.
The bet.
That damn bet.
For the first time in a long while, it came back to haunt her.
When Kika arrived at the training center, she spotted Y/N immediately.
And her heart skipped a beat.
Y/N was already there.
Sitting on a bench, phone in hand.
When she looked up and saw Kika, her face instantly lit up.
And that was enough to make all of Kika's thoughts vanish.
For a few seconds.
Just a few seconds.
Then they came back.
Even stronger.
-Hello.
Y/N's smile was impossible to ignore.
-Hello.
-Did you sleep well?
-Not really.
-Me neither.
A brief silence.
Then they burst out laughing at the same time.
Because they knew exactly why.
And that made the situation even more awkward.
But in a good way.
Unfortunately for them, their teammates were far too observant.
During practice, several amused glances were exchanged.
Then, during the break, Patri finally approached Kika.
-So?
Kika sighed immediately.
-No.
-No, what?
-I know that question.
-And?
-Nothing.
-Liar.
-Leave me alone.
Patri burst out laughing.
-You look totally in love.
Kika remained silent.
A mistake.
A huge mistake.
Because it immediately confirmed all their suspicions.
-Oh my God.
-Shut up.
-It's true!
-Shut up.
-Kika's in love!
Later that day, Y/N noticed that something seemed to be troubling Kika.
They were alone in the stands at the training ground.
Kika was lying across the seats, her head resting on Y/N's lap.
The sun was beginning to set.
As often happened, they had found an excuse to stay a little longer.
-You're overthinking.
Kika lifted her head.
-Sorry?
-I know you by now.
-Oh, really?
-Yes.
-And how do you know that?
-By the look on your face.
-What look?
-The one that says something's wrong.
Kika smiled in spite of herself.
-You analyze people way too much.
-And you dodge questions.
-Maybe.
Y/N leaned in slightly.
-So?
For a few seconds, Kika considered telling her everything.
The bet.
The dare.
The whole truth.
She even wanted to.
She really did.
But fear took over.
The fear of losing Y/N.
The fear of seeing her walk away.
So she gently shook her head.
-Nothing important.
Y/N seemed to hesitate.
Then she decided to believe her.
Just this once.
The following weekend, the team had a day off.
A rarity.
Kika took immediate advantage of it and called Y/N.
-You're coming.
-Where?
-It's a surprise.
-Again?
-Yes.
-You really love surprises.
-And you really love to complain.
Y/N laughed.
-Fair enough.
They spent the day together.
Coffee in the morning.
A walk through the city center, hand in hand.
Then, several hours spent talking in a park.
Nothing extraordinary.
And yet, for them, it was perfect.
Because they didn't need anything else.
At one point, lying in the grass, they simply watched the sky.
-You know...
Kika turned her head toward Y/N.
-Hmm?
-I think coming here was the best decision of my life.
Kika smiled.
-Because of soccer?
Y/N thought for a few seconds.
Then gently shook her head.
Their eyes met.
And this time, they didn't need words.
They both understood.
That evening, as they walked side by side toward Kika's car, their hands found each other naturally.
No one made the first move.
No one made a conscious decision.
Yet, a few seconds later, their fingers were interlaced.
As if it had always been natural.
As if that was where they belonged.
Y/N looked down at their hands.
Then looked up at Kika.
Kika was smiling.
A sincere smile.
A happy one.
And for a moment, Y/N felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be.
But several kilometers away, in the group chat with the girls who knew about the bet, a conversation had just picked up again.
« I think we can consider that Kika won. »
« A long time ago. »
« Is she actually going to tell him, though? »
Silence.
Then, a reply appeared.
« I hope so. »
Because, unbeknownst to them, time was running out.
And the more Kika fell for Y/N, the more dangerous the truth became.
Because what had started as a simple bet was no longer a game.
Not anymore.
And when a secret grows within a romance, it almost always ends up exploding.
The Bet (Part 2 of 5)
(Kika Nazareth x fem!reader)
Warnings: none
Words: 2k
The bet had been made nearly a week ago.
And honestly?
Kika had all but forgotten about it. At first, she'd thought the idea was ridiculous. Then, she'd agreed to it only because the other girls wouldn't leave her alone about it.
But now, whenever she spent time with Y/N, the bet didn't even cross her mind.
She simply enjoyed her company. Which was a problem in itself.
Practice had just wrapped up. The players were gradually leaving the pitch as the sun began to dip behind the training center buildings.
Y/N had stayed behind for a few extra minutes to work on her shooting.
Kika had just stepped out of the shower when she spotted Y/N from the edge of the field.
-You know practice is over?
Y/N looked up.
-I know.
-You realize goalkeepers are allowed to go home too, right?
-I know, but Gemma's cool with staying a bit longer.
-I'm starting to think you sleep here.
-Oh, shit... You've found me out.
Kika burst out laughing.
Over the past few weeks, Y/N's responses had become much more natural—more spontaneous, and more teasing, too.
And Kika loved it.
Half an hour later, they finally left the facilities together.
-What are you doing tonight? Kika asked.
-Nothing.
-Nothing?
-Nothing at all.
-That's sad.
Y/N shook her head.
-And you?
-Nothing either.
-So, we're two sad people.
-Exactly.
A silence followed.
Then, Kika made a spontaneous decision. She took Y/N's hand and led her toward her car.
-Come on.
-Where ?
-We're spend the night together. I'm going to show you the city, because I'm pretty sure you haven't explored it on your own.
-Okay, but I want to grab a bite to eat.
-Yeah, sure.
Forty minutes later, they were walking through the streets of Barcelona's historic center.
Y/N looked around curiously. Kika had been right Y/N hadn't really visited the city. In her defense, her life revolved entirely around the training center and her apartment, so she hadn't had the time.
-You've never been here before? Kika asked.
-No.
-Seriously?
-I was busy.
-That's a terrible excuse.
-I know.
Kika seemed to know every street, every square, and every café.
She moved with a natural ease that made Y/N smile. Everything seemed simple with her—as if she were incapable of making anything complicated.
They eventually settled at a restaurant terrace.
The sounds of the city surrounded them.
Tourists walked by.
Families strolled past.
The golden evening light bathed the buildings.
For a few minutes, they chatted about this and that.
Then, the conversation turned more personal.
-Do you ever have regrets? Kika suddenly asked.
-Regret what?
-Coming here, to Barcelona?
Y/N thought for a moment.
-No.
-Never?
-Sometimes I feel lonely...
Kika listened intently.
-But I have absolutely no regrets.
A smile appeared on Y/N's lips.
-If I'd stayed in my comfort zone, I would have wondered for the rest of my life what might have happened.
Kika nodded slowly, she understood perfectly.
At the same time, in the group chat shared by Cata, Claudia, and Vicky—aptly named "The Bet"—the girls were exchanging messages: « Where's Kika » Claudia asked.
« No idea. »
« She's with Y/N » Vicky replied.
« Again? »
« Yeah. »
« The bet is coming along nicely » Cata said.
But none of them knew something that Kika herself was beginning to realize.
The bet had become secondary.
Because she now eagerly looked forward to those moments with Y/N.
Because she found herself naturally seeking Y/N out with her eyes during practice.
Because she loved hearing her laugh.
Because the thought of seeing her sad upset her far more than she wanted to admit.
And above all, because she was starting to become genuinely attached to Y/N.
Night had fallen by the time they settled onto the beach.
Y/N watched the waves for a few seconds, then spoke.
-Thank you.
Kika turned her head and looked at her.
-For what?
-For today.
-It was nothing.
-No, it meant a lot to me.
Y/N smiled faintly.
-Lately, I'd forgotten that there was anything to life besides soccer.
For some strange reason, that remark touched Kika.
Perhaps because she understood that feeling.
Perhaps because she was happy to have given her a different kind of evening.
Or perhaps for some other reason she wasn't yet ready to acknowledge.
Their eyes met.
For a second.
Then two.
Something had changed between them.
Something subtle.
But strong enough for both of them to notice.
Then, suddenly, Kika remembered.
The bet.
Guilt washed over her.
She was the first to look away—something that surprised Y/N, as it almost never happened.
On her way home that evening, Y/N realized she had spent the best night of her life and she had experienced plenty of memorable events thanks to her career. But tonight was different.
Maybe because she had finally spent the evening out of her apartment.
Maybe it was because she was with Kika.
Y/N fell asleep smiling, with butterflies in her stomach. She knew perfectly well why it had been such a wonderful evening, she just wasn't ready to admit it to herself yet.
Meanwhile, Kika lay down on her sofa and stared at the ceiling for a long time.
She had to tell the girls she was calling off this stupid bet. She couldn't do this to Y/N, because tonight, she hadn't been faking it. She had genuinely enjoyed her company.
Her phone buzzed.
A message from Vicky:
« So? Did the date go well? »
Kika remained motionless.
Then she simply replied:
« It wasn't a date. »
« And by the way, I'm stopping this stupid bet. »
A few seconds later, Vicky replied:
« You can't, it's too late. »
Kika didn't reply.
« Come on, it's just a fun game to see if you could manage to ask Y/N out on a date before Christmas. »
Kika replied curtly:
« Y/N isn't a game! »
For the first time since the bet began, a thought crossed her mind.
What if the real issue wasn't about managing to go out with Y/N anymore?
What if the real issue was that she was actually starting to fall for her?
After their night out in Barcelona, something had changed.
Neither Kika or Y/N would have admitted it out loud.
Perhaps because they were afraid to ask themselves the right questions.
But something was different.
And they both felt it.
Over the following days, they spent even more time together.
It happened naturally.
Without any specific decision.
Without any discussion.
It had simply become a habit.
In the morning, Kika would look for Y/N the moment she arrived at the training center.
At lunchtime, they ate together, away from the rest of the team.
After training, they often stayed a few minutes longer to talk.
Sometimes about soccer.
Sometimes about their childhoods.
Sometimes about completely absurd topics.
And those were often the conversations Y/N preferred.
Because with Kika, everything seemed lighter and easier.
One Tuesday morning, while the team was running a ball-retention drill, Kika intercepted a pass and immediately played the ball to Y/N.
Y/N beat an opponent with a quick cut and kept the play going.
-Nice move! Kika shouted.
A few seconds later, the coaching staff paused the drill.
While everyone caught their breath, Vicky and Claudia quietly approached Kika.
-You're about as subtle as an elephant.
-What?
-The bet.
Kika sighed immediately.
-Again? I told you I was done with it.
-But you're literally spending all your time with her.
-Yeah, because she's nice. You guys should spend more time with her too.
-Be careful. Claudia warned.
-Of what?
-You're starting to look like you're in love with her.
For a second, Kika didn't say a word.
Then Vicky and Claudia started laughing.
Kika went back to training as if nothing had happened.
But the remark kept playing on her mind.
That same evening, Y/N received a video call from Selma.
-So?
-So what?
-Barcelona.
-It's good.
-You look happy.
-I'm always happy."
-Yeah, but you look *really* happy.
Y/N frowned.
-Don't be ridiculous.
-Y/N, I know you.
Selma narrowed her eyes, and suddenly, she had a realization.
-Is there someone? she exclaimed.
-No! Y/N replied, feeling flustered.
-That *no* was suspicious.
-It wasn't suspicious.
-I'd say *very* suspicious.
Y/N burst out laughing.
-Stop it.
-Is she a player on the team?
-Goodnight.
-Y/N, answer me. Selma asked.
-I said goodnight.
And Y/N hung up immediately.
Selma instantly sent her several messages filled with mocking and lovey-dovey emojis.
Y/N shook her head, then, despite herself, found her thoughts drifting back to Kika.
A few days later, the team played an away match in the Champions League.
The journey took place in a relaxed atmosphere.
On the plane, several players were playing cards, while others were watching TV series.
Y/N was sitting by the window with a book on her lap.
Beside her, Kika was visibly trying to fight off boredom.
-I have a question. Kika finally asked.
Y/N looked up and closed her book, ready to listen to Kika.
-Yeah?
-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?
-That's your question?
-Yeah, I'm bored, and I know your answer will be interesting.
Y/N chuckled.
-Well, if you really want to know, I'd probably say Iceland or Norway. What about you?
Kika thought for a few seconds.
-I don't know... maybe England or France. France is beautiful, isn't it?
-It's actually stunning, I'll take you there someday if you want.
Kika smiled at the invitation.
Then, they spent the rest of the flight chatting about anything and everything.
But it never got tedious, as soon as one conversation ended, another would start right up.
Because they could talk to each other for hours.
The match was tough.
Very tough.
Wolfsburg's defense was flawless.
The score remained deadlocked for a long time.
Then, with just minutes left on the clock, Y/N delivered an assist.
Kika scored.
Victory.
The team erupted with joy.
At the final whistle, Kika immediately ran toward Y/N and, without a second thought, wrapped her in a hug.
When they pulled apart, both of them were blushing deeply.
Y/N didn't even dare look Kika in the eye, she was blushing so much.
That awkward moment between them was quickly cut short by the arrival of Alexia, Patri, Clara, and Mapi, who also embraced them to celebrate their victory.
They returned to Barcelona the next day.
The group was tired.
Some players were already asleep on the plane, while others were looking at their phones.
Kika and Y/N were sitting side by side, as usual.
At one point, when the conversation had died down, Y/N fell asleep.
Her head slumped gently against Kika's shoulder.
Kika froze instantly.
Her heart began to race.
Ridiculous.
Completely ridiculous.
Y/N was simply sleeping.
Yet, Kika remained motionless for the entire journey, afraid of waking her.
And because a part of her didn't want the moment to end.
By the time they finally arrived in Barcelona, night had already fallen.
Y/N slowly opened her eyes.
-Sorry.
-What for?
-I fell asleep... on you.
-You looked exhausted, it's no big deal.
Kika smiled at her.
For a few seconds, they just sat there, looking at each other.
Neither seemed in a rush to leave.
Without realizing it, Kika had started leaning closer to Y/N.
Closer and closer.
But then, unfortunately, Alexia announced that it was time to get off the plane and head to the bus.
Once on the bus, Kika sat down next to Patri.
-You okay? Patri asked.
-Yeah. Kika replied automatically. Well, no...
-What's wrong?
-I'm in deep trouble.
The bet.
The secret Y/N still knew nothing about.
The secret that threatened to destroy everything they were building together.
Because with every passing day, the truth became harder to reveal.
And more painful to discover.
But Kika could no longer lie to Y/N, something had changed between them, something that no longer had much to do with simple friendship.

When the plane landed in Barcelona, Y/N felt as if everything she had built up over the years had just led her to this precise moment. She remained motionless in her seat for a few seconds while the other passengers were already getting up to collect their luggage.
Barcelona.
FC Barcelona.
The words still seemed unreal.
Just a few months earlier, she had been watching Barça matches from her sofa, admiring the team's skill and secretly dreaming of one day wearing that jersey. Today, she had just signed her contract.
Her phone vibrated. A message from Selma, her former teammate from OL Lyonnes.
"You're going to kill it. We're so proud of you."
Y/N smiled.
Those few words were enough to slightly calm the frantic beating of her heart.
A few hours later, after the usual formalities and a quick check-in to her apartment, she arrived at the training center.
The building was even more impressive than in the photos. Everything seemed perfect. The pitches were impeccably maintained. The facilities were modern, and there was constant activity around her. Staff members were carrying equipment. Journalists were chatting in front of the main entrance.
Y/N immediately felt the pressure mounting. She was no longer a promising player for Lyon, but now a Barça player.
The morning was dedicated to official introductions: photos, interviews, signing documents, and a tour of the facilities with the two team captains (Alexia and Irene). At each step, someone reminded her of the club's importance: its history, ambitions, and expectations.
Y/N politely answered all of Alexia's questions, but her mind was elsewhere. She knew an important moment was approaching: meeting her new teammates. Y/N is very reserved; she's polite, but she never initiates conversations. In Lyon, she hadn't needed to because, as a young player from the academy, she already knew everyone and had no trouble talking to her former teammates. But today, she would have to enter a locker room full of players who had known each other for years. She finally understood why they all seemed so stressed when new players arrived.
When she first pushed open the locker room door, it was empty. Phew... A reassuring silence filled the room.
-Here's your locker, Y/N. We've put you between Clara and Aïcha. Alexia said, pointing to a locker with your name on it.
-Clara and Aïcha are a little younger than you, and they're also starting their professional careers this year. They're really nice, and if you ever have a problem, don't hesitate to come see us. Alexia and I are here to help you. Irene added.
-Thank you so much. Y/N replied.
She approached slowly, put down her bag, and touched the jersey hanging inside. Her new jersey with her lucky number, 21. For a few seconds, she almost forgot that Alexia and Irene were still there. All that remained was this incredible feeling. She had made it. And all this at only 21 years old.
The door burst open behind her, instantly pulling Y/N from her reverie. A commotion filled the room. Her new teammates were arriving; some were laughing, others were already discussing the next practice. Introductions began quickly. Several players came to welcome her, including Clara, Patri, Mapi, Vicky... They all seemed friendly. Y/N did her best to smile and absorb the information. Then a voice called out from behind her.
-So you're the new girl? Y/N turned around.
A young woman with brown hair had just appeared before her with a huge smile. It was impossible not to recognize that face.
Kika Nazareth.
Y/N had loved seeing her hundreds of times on television. But in real life, Kika exuded something different. A natural energy. An ease in putting others at ease.
-Uh...yes.
-Welcome. Kika held out her hand. You'll see, they make us run around a lot here.
Y/N chuckled softly in spite of herself.
-Thanks for the warning, she said.
-I prefer to be honest. Kika pretended to think. Well, there are also the endless video analyses, the early wake-ups.
-Stop it! a voice said.
-And sometimes... Kika continued.
-Kika! Stop, you'll scare her, Mapi added, laughing.
Kika raised her hands innocently.
-What? I'm just giving her the important information.
A few laughs erupted in the locker room. And for the first time since her arrival, Y/N felt the tension ease.
The afternoon training session was brutal. The pace was intense. The slightest mistake was immediately noticed. Y/N held on. She refused to let her stress show. Even when her legs burned, even when she missed some sequences. She kept going.
Several times, she noticed Kika nearby. Always moving and always encouraging someone. And above all, always smiling. Y/N surprised herself by smiling too when she looked at Kika.
During a possession drill, they were placed on the same team.
-To the left! Kika shouted.
Y/N immediately passed the ball, and Kika shot straight into the goal.
-Great pass, Y/N! Nice goal, Kika! Alexia, who was also on their team, encouraged.
Y/N smiled.
A few minutes later:
-Well done!
And again:
-Keep it up!
Simple phrases, but they felt good.
After training, the players gradually began to leave the training center.
Some left together, others stayed to chat. Y/N silently packed her things. Then she heard a familiar voice.
-Going home already? Kika had just sat down on the next bench.
-Yes, I'm tired. This training session made me rediscover soccer. Not that the training sessions in Lyon weren't intense, but they were different.
Kika smiled at her.
-Do you have any plans?
-No.
-Ah...
A silence.
-Me neither. Y/N smiled slightly.
-I suppose it's exciting.
-Extremely, said Kika, getting up from the bench. Then she adopted a dramatic expression.
-I'll probably go home and watch a series, pretending I'm going to bed early, like Alexia would like me to.
-And you won't be going to bed early, I suppose? Y/N added with a sly smile.
-Absolutely not, Kika admitted, jumping up and down, grinning.
This time, Y/N laughed outright, and Kika seemed pleased with her reaction.
The walk to her apartment felt lighter than she'd expected. For the first time since arriving, she wasn't solely focused on her mistakes or the pressure. She was replaying the day in her mind. The locker room, practice, Kika's jokes, her ever-present smile, and her uncanny ability to make situations less intimidating.
Y/N shook her head; she'd only just arrived, it was too soon to draw conclusions. Yet, a small part of her already felt she might eventually find her place here. Maybe not immediately, but one day, she will.
So she settled onto her sofa and decided to call Selma to tell her about her first day with her new team.
On the other side of town, Kika was finally sitting with Patri, Clara, Vicky, Ona, and Mapi, having a drink.
-So? Mapi asked.
-What? Kika smiled.
-I noticed you were particularly close to Y/N today.
-She's nice.
-And shy, added Ona.
-Very shy, said Patri.
-That's normal, she just arrived, and besides, we're a very close-knit team, it's understandable that she's keeping to herself, said Kika defensively.
-Will you manage to get her to fit in? asked Mapi.
Kika burst out laughing.
-Of course!
Two weeks had passed since Y/N's arrival in Barcelona.
On the court, everything was moving fast. Very fast.
Training sessions followed one after another, matches were approaching, and despite the pressure, Y/N was starting to find her feet. Her technical skills were already impressing the staff and several players.
Off the court, it was a different story.
She remained discreet.
Always polite.
Always smiling when someone came to talk to her, but she never made the first move.
In the cafeteria, she often sat at the end of a table.
On the bus, she put on her headphones.
After training, she usually went home alone.
For most of her teammates, she remained a mystery, but for Kika, it was completely different. Because from their first meeting, something had developed between them.
An ease.
An unexpected connection.
Nothing extraordinary, but enough for Kika to become the person Y/N talked to the most.
And that hadn't escaped anyone's notice.
On Friday evening, the team met at a restaurant downtown. The atmosphere was relaxed; the players were celebrating their first victory of the season, achieved a few days earlier.
The conversations flowed freely, some sharing travel anecdotes while others gently teased each other.
Y/N listened more than she spoke. As usual.
At one point, her phone vibrated. It was her sister calling to check in. She excused herself and stepped outside for a few minutes to answer the call.
As soon as she disappeared behind the restaurant door, several glances turned toward Kika.
A bad sign.
A very bad sign.
-Why are you looking at me like that? she asked immediately.
No one answered.
Smiles were enough.
-No.
-We haven't said anything yet.
-Yes, but I know you.
-You're exaggerating.
-Not at all. Cata put her glass down on the table.
-We were just discussing a very interesting topic.
-I'm scared, Kika replied.
-You should be, Claudia added, laughing.
Kika sighed.
-Come on, spill it.
-Very well.
Cata then became serious.
-We think Y/N has a crush on you.
Kika nearly choked on her drink.
-What?
-Oh yes.
-Absolutely, Vicky said.
-It's obvious, Claudia added.
-You're completely crazy, Kika replied.
-Just look at her when she arrives and she'll smile.
-She doesn't smile at anyone but you.
-That's not true, Kika said, rolling her eyes. You're making things up.
-Then prove it.
-Prove what?
-That you could never go out with her. Claudia said.
Silence fell around the table.
Then Cata, Vicky, and Claudia burst out laughing.
-Are you serious? Kika asked.
-Very serious.
-That's completely ridiculous.
-Maybe, but we find it amusing. Cata admitted.
Kika shook her head.
-So? Do you accept or not? Vicky insisted.
-Accept what?
-The bet.
-What bet?
-To get a date with Y/N before Christmas.
This time the girls waited for her reaction.
Kika looked at each of them in turn.
They all seemed to think it was a good idea.
-That's the stupidest thing I've heard this week.
-Thanks, Claudia replied with a big smile.
-That wasn't a compliment.
-So? Do you accept?
-No.
-Coward, Cata teased.
-I'm not a coward, Kika protested.
-Ah...
-Oh...
-Interesting stuff.
Kika immediately realized her mistake.
-Don't do that.
-You just fell into the trap. Well done!
-I hate you.
-So you accept?
Kika ran a hand over her face.
-You're impossible.
-We know, Vicky said, smiling.
Another silence.
Then Kika sighed.
-Fine.
The girls erupted with joy.
-She's doing it!
-Unbelievable!
-I'm going to regret this.
-Definitely.
Kika pointed an accusing finger at them.
-I'm warning you. This bet is stupid.
-That's precisely why it's brilliant, Claudia said, clapping her hands.
A few minutes later, Y/N returned to the table. She immediately noticed the girls strange smiles.
-Did I miss something? she asked.
-No.
-Absolutely nothing.
Y/N frowned slightly.
-You guys are weird.
-Thanks.
-It's our trademark.
Y/N shook her head before sitting back down. Next to her, Kika carefully avoided her gaze. Which was unusual.
Very unusual.
-Is everything alright? Y/N asked.
-Yes.
-Are you sure?
-Yes.
-Okay. Kika nodded quickly.
For some reason she couldn't understand, she suddenly felt guilty. And the bet had barely even started.
The next morning, the team met at the training center. Y/N arrived among the first, as usual. She liked to enjoy the calm before the hustle and bustle of the day. As she finished her stretches, a familiar voice called out behind her.
-You're always this early?
She turned around.
-Kika.
-And you're always this late? Alexia's really not going to like this.
Kika put her hand to her chest.
-Oh... You just broke my heart...
Y/N smiled.
Again.
Kika noticed it immediately. She loved that smile.
And something tightened in her chest. Because deep down, the bet didn't really matter anymore.
She simply loved these moments, the conversations, the jokes, the way Y/N seemed to relax when they were together.
Unbeknownst to her, this was precisely what was going to make things much more complicated. Because the bet had started as a joke...
But the feelings involved were likely to become very real.
