The moment Quinn had made the move she had, Oliver knew. Something within himself broke, like a light turning on, a realization hitting full-force. His mouth fell open, and he wavered on his feet for a moment, his head spinning with the information he’d just been given. Bringing his eyes back up to meet Quinn’s, Oliver took a tentative step forward, his expression softening even further as his eyes began to prickle with tears he worked to control. Gently, he raised a hand to cup Quinn’s cheek in his palm, his eyes searching hers as he closed the distance between them. “Are you serious, Quinn? This…It’s real?” He asked, voice shaking as the tears began to threaten to spill over.
This was real. It had always felt like a heavy thing, weighing her down, but now it was more real than ever for Quinn. Oliver knew. She had told him. He’d seen the ultrasound. It wasn’t like she wanted to keep it from him forever, or like she had thought that she could. The man in front of her was going to cry, she could see it in his eyes. There was no question why she could never lie to him, why it had been omission but only until she was called out. Quinn could lie to just anyone else, as long as she felt it was the right thing to do for whatever reason. But to see Oliver cry because of her would be too much. She cared too much.
“No, I thought I’d take up comedy as a side hustle,” she replied sassily, ending her response with a chuckle as she wiped at her own eyes, then his and leaned into his touch. “I’ve got the original in my wallet.... if you want to see it.”
