Optional design ramblings. Again:

Vladimir still hasn't really changed!! Unless you count the fact that I switched out the greys in his color palette for blue but that's basically it. And no, different jewellery doesn't really count because that isn't meant to be consistent anyway.

Piter also remains largely the same except for minor details. I wanted to get more math stuff in there, so now he has a belt that is either 8 or infinity (depends how much you want to tilt your head). The clasp and buttons on his jacket were originally meant to look like % but it does also resemble a tilted ÷ so once again, killing two birds with one stone.

Rabban probably went through the most changes since the last time you saw him. He looks edgier now and has a jacket based off the Baron's outfit in Lynch's Dune! I thought it'd be cute to include references to the film versions of Vladimir in his nephews' designs, since my own take on the Baron was mostly influenced by the 2000 miniseries :3

The Villeneuve influence on Feyd may not be as obvious since he isn't bald here. To be fair, it's mostly in that black top with the longer bit of fabric, which is meant to look like Vladimir's robe in that version.

Another thing about Feyd!! He walks on pointe because I thought that'd be fun :3

Very loose sketches of my designs for Marvin and Hill

Even though my designs are already not the most realistic (with Care's dad being green and Care herself almost entirely in greyscale), Marvin is meant to be the most exaggerated and cartoonish. His eyebrows fly off his face. He bends his body in ways that no other character does. Has noodle arms.

All of those traits should be fun and endearing in theory, but in his case it just feels off and out of place. Having seemingly no bones in your body is NOT CUTE WHEN YOU ALMOST CRUSHED SOMEONE ELSE'S BY THROWING A METAL DISK AT THEM!!

Not as much to say about Hill. You all see how he is.

Sigh. Whatever. Go my Pomni and Caine fusion...

Weird little nutcracker. Seems kinda random, but Pomni's eyes + Caine's white and red color scheme made me think of peppermint candy. Peppermints made me think of Christmas, which lead me to decide that a nutcracker was a good choice (because it has a more human appearance but still puts emphasis on the teeth).

Thought about naming them Pecan or Nine (once again, the second option seems random but it is literally the last 2 letters of their names together). Or maybe their full name is Pecan9? It does sound like it could be the name of a long discontinued computer program that is completely forgotten because it filled a very niche purpose that isn't even needed in the modern day.

(Despite looking stressed out in 2 out of 3 drawings, I promise that even they are still slightly better off than The Bishop)

Honestly, I'm not sure about Glossu. Maybe he would just be the one who keeps his hair in a bun for convenience?

While working on part 2 of that whole animation series thingy, I've made a design sketch for the version of Pawnderin/Pawnee featured at the end of that video!

So introducing (though this version may not stick around):

Pawndereen: Nihilus

Now this is technically the 3rd concept sketch I've made for Pawnderin/Pawnee. I saw that I hadn't included enough features from Pawnee, so to make up for that, and for the sake of lore I had the original obliterated! (quite literally 😅)

Now you may have noticed that this fusion includes Three components, while the base characters only contain two... This is because (and without getting too much into spoilers) that strange entity felt bad for vaporizing the first living thing they've ever come across. So they bonded themselves to their body in order to keep from... Y'know, dying.

That eye where their neck ruffles used to be is planned to be able to switch between all known promotions of a pawn piece in chess, which would result in a different transformation for each one! (yet to be designed)

(Also they DO have a mouth, it's just been reoriented because the entity doesn't understand biology, I may draw that later)

Uh oh! seems Pawnderin Moon has ended up in quite the predicament! (They survive this btw... uhh sort of-)

As the video says, this is meant for @featherglum and @justwebster, but asks blogs don't allow for videos as far as I can tell.

If this doesn't make a lick of sense, don't worry, it's not supposed to. (Not yet anyways)

This is my first time doing digital art in general, let alone animation. But I think it went suprisingly well 😅👍

Well, there should've been an asterisk next to that because the chess rule only applies to fusions with other humans...

That's why the fusion of Kinger and Caine is a guy made of checkers instead!

Hi there! I just wanna say that I love the Kinger fusions and how unique they all feel. Have you considered designing any non-Kinger fusions, or thought about how the gang would discover fusions in the first place?

I have design ideas for a few fusions that don't involve Kinger! You should see them soon, hopefully.

As for how they found out about fusion, I have ideas, but haven't decided which will be "canon" yet...

Since The Bishop was the first I designed, I naturally considered him being the first chronologically.

Mostly played around with the idea that Caine was responsible for his existence. Probably as a misguided attempt at getting Kinger and Jax to know each other better ("Don't you two want to have a guys' night? Please? Guys' night? Tonight? Please? The girls are always hanging out, so why aren't you, fellas?").

The only reason everyone finds out that fusion is a thing they could also do on their own is because Caine mentions it offhand (something like "you two could've done this much earlier, you know...").

Though I can also imagine a different scenario where Kinger has known about fusion for a long time. Maybe he was even one of the people who discovered this ability, back when the original circus developers were around.

Unfortunately, due to his current mental state, he is unable to share this knowledge with the newer members. So this ability would remain a mystery until either:

A fusion happens by complete accident

Kinger and someone else get trapped somewhere during an adventure and Kinger is lucid enough to suggest fusing as a way to become stronger and escape easily. Being purposefully vague here because I haven't decided on the exact circumstances. Like yeah, this does just sound like a rewrite of what Kinger and Pomni were up to in the Mildenhall Manor... But we could also have, I don't know, him and Zooble breaking out of jail.

Part 5! The Kinger and Ragatha fusion!

Being the same chess piece as Kinger's dead wife is not ideal, but as long as Matriyarn has other things to do than looking at their own reflection or shadow for a long time, they will be fine!

Hi! I'm so sorry it took me so long to get this to you, I would've had this ready by yesterday, but I got swamped by work 😭

But as promised! I did thoroughly look through your design for your fusion of Pomni and Kinger! And I must say, I CANNOT get enough of this design, and especially the name and how it simultaneously satisfies both Pomni's and Kinger's naming conventions!💖💖 and how you made it so that Pawnderin can also split apart it's base into a pair of functional legs!! And the poncho/cloak you added to them seriously adds to the wiseman, riddle-speaking demeanor they have! And this isn't even mentioning your inclusion of them hanging out with @justwebster 's version of the fusion (I absolutely adore theirs as well😭💖💖🙏) I loved them both so much that I couldn't just draw one and leave out the other (even though this is my reconciliation gift for missing your post) so I decided to combine the two together! As a potential added gimmick to the fusion!:

I call them Pawnderin Sun/The Butterfly (Left) and Pawnderin Moon/The Moth(Right)!

These sketches serve more as a proof of concept, I want to do more flushed out designs for them that feature more traits from both fusions in the future (With your & @justwebster 's permission first of course!)

I also drew a headshot of the two having a laugh:

(I attempted to remain as close to the model of the original Pawnderin as possible, and did these entirely with ballpoint pen)

Now outside of this ask, the two could not exist at the same time, as they are alternate forms of the same fusion, with Pawderin Moon being the result of the two component cast members fusing during the night and Sun being the result of fusing during the day!

Moon acts as the "lucid" half, speaking in rhymes and providing and deriving entertainment through puzzles and riddles! And retains Pomni's "voice of reason" attitude, their cloak keeping the arm like properties of the original fusion! They also double as the Black Pawn!

Sun acts as the "Crazy" half being the showman, providing and deriving entertainment through jokes (both verbal and practical), displays of dexterity (such as juggling and balancing various unusual objects) and pranks! Though when they aren't performing or getting into hijinx, they're always willing to help the other cast members and potentially be a shoulder to cry on, retaining Kinger's "father figure" status. Unlike Moon, Sun's cloak does not follow the position of their hands, and instead acts more like a traditional cape. They double as the White Pawn!

OH MY GOSH?!

THIS IS SUCH A FUN IDEA!! I love them having different forms for daytime and nighttime AND THE FACT THAT THEY'RE REFERRED TO AS THE "BUTTERFLY" AND "MOTH" VERSIONS RESPECTIVELY!! AND the fact that they ALSO represent both chess piece colors!! AND all that combined can also tie into how pawns can change into other pieces!! Augh you always amaze me with just how thoroughly everything is planned out...
