A Spark of Inspiration II Felissa & Riley
The moon was high and heavy in the night sky which fell across the town like a stifling cloak of unforgiving darkness. The shadows seemed to take on a life of their own, swirling about in a midnight waltz with the low plumes of fog which curled and swept between the bits of aged marble that stuck up from the ground. A garden of the dead like this should have seemed like a welcoming sort of place for someone like Riley Monroe when in reality she never quite saw the appeal and chose science over superstition.
A splash of color in her usually darkened appearance was the cause of the sound that drew the young girl’s attention - her red and white Chucks which were somewhat covered by the top of her dark blue jeans which clung low on her small hips. A black shirt worn beneath her expensive black peacoat paired with her long hair tied up in a ponytail. There were times, such as now, where the doll-like beauty actually dressed like an eighteen year old rather than the doctor that she was. Strangely enough she was carrying a shovel a key in one of her hands which was on a long red ribbon which was to one of the mausoleums. She was here tonight to collect samples from a recently buried corpse since the local police department failed to completely read through her findings and went ahead and released the body to the family before the accidental death ruling could be changed to the obvious homicide that it was.
The small beam of light which danced across the ground and then fell upon her may have frightened a normal person but Riley regarded the source with a slight frown. She hadn’t come here with any source of light of her own but she seemed to know her way around rather well. Closing the bit of distance between them she tilted her head slightly and surveyed the girl with a mild interest. “I could probably warn you that being in a place like this at night alone is detrimental to your health but I admire your creative courage.” this would have been the point where she should have smiled but that wasn’t something Riley did often. Offering her free hand to her politely enough. “Riley Timore… although it’s Dr. Monroe now.”
Felissa had never been one to really be scared of anything, she'd been obsessed with horror movies as a child and they had desensitized her to a lot of things that normally frightened other people. Snakes and spiders didn't bother her and she loved the dark, that's why she'd been so thrilled to find out that the murder rate was as high as it was in Deacon Falls, sure it seemed a little psychotic of something to be excited about but she didn't care, it was fascinating to her. Not even the other girl walking towards her intimidated her at the moment. "Ehhhh....I'm sure I would've been fine, I don't really think anyone would've killed me." she replied with a shrug. "And if they had I could be a ghost and that's fine with me too." she said smiling widely.
She took the other girls hand and shook it softly. "Very nice to meet you Riley, I'm Felissa!" she replied with a small nod. "I'd ask you what you're doing here but it seems pretty obvious." she said pointing to the shovel in the other girls hand. "What kind of doctor goes around digging up bodies anyway?" she asked playfully. "And can I help?"
