“Y’know, Robin, you should be more careful runnin’ ‘round out in battle. Injuries like this’ll git you in trouble.”
Brady knew he was basically talking to a brick wall with this, knowing that Robin was one to put himself in front of anyone about to take a blow. It was something that he’d accepted long ago, but still tried to talk to him into watching out for himself every time.
“Yer lucky it ain’t too bad, but any deeper n’ you’d be down n’ outta battle for quite awhile. Try n’ be more careful for all us folk lookin’ up to ya, a’ight?”
A soft sigh escapes the tactician’s lips; These lectures were starting to become habit, weren’t they? At least, they were when Brady was the one tending to him after battle. He’s appreciative that the priest cares enough to do so, though he feels a little guilty that he just can’t heed that advice. He cares far too much about the Shepherds to let them go unprotected; They’re not just Robin’s friends, but a family-- And family protects one another, doesn’t it?
He glances down at his arm, bare and already scarred from an incident two years prior; To get a proper look at the wound the tactician had had to shed not only his cloak, but his bolero as well. Already, thanks to Brady’s skill with a staff, the worst of the injury has receded. All that remains are angry red lines; Magical injuries have a tendency to leave their mark, and his arm had been torn open by wind.
❝ But I can’t just stand there and let others get hurt if there’s something I can do... If I hadn’t gotten in the way, it’d be Cynthia you were treating now-- And fliers are especially vulnerable to wind magic. She’d be far worse off than I, wouldn’t you say? I’ll be more careful, certainly, but I won’t have any of you getting hurt. Not if I can help it. I’m... Sorry to trouble you so. I know you’re busy, and healing’s a difficult art. ❞
