hot (?) take - constantly expanding the LGBT acronym and adding even more marginalised (although not always) groups to it, creating even longer, unpronounceable forms, feels like a planned attempt to further divide and ridicule same-sex attracted people.
it supplies bigots with ammunition to discredit and dismiss SSA people as a community, instilling frustration and rage targeted towards us, making them see us as a collective freak show, that can't even decide who they are.
not to mention that year after year I see less and less of the original rainbow flag among the capitalist rainbow-washed slop, which is also saying something.
I don't want to be grouped with people that feel no sexual attraction, or those in relationships with multiple people. we don't share the struggle, our experiences will never match. murdered and missing indigenous women deserve their own organisations and legal support. grouping them with the rest of the long ass acronym feels offensive.
I want to be seen as I am - a woman that's attracted to other women, not a part of a group that just about anyone can join. if you want to play this game further, just call it Non-Men-And-Everyone-Loving-Everyone, but don't forget about a disclaimer that anyone else is also invited if they feel like it.
also the so-called progress flag looks like shit, like something that was born in a marketing intern's head. just to sell more, produce more, more more more.
wow dude jts so awesome that your car is loud as fuck and smells worse when it drives past. thags fucking epic man. i really like how it hurts to listen to you drive past and it scares people. thats awesome man. i really like your car that makes a loud as fuck fart sound. fucking epic dude
do you know how to instantly make your life more bearable?
read books written by women
listen to music made by women
watch movies written and directed by women
engage with art created by women
search for female doctors and contractors, choose women as your uber/bolt drivers
your life may still not be perfect, but at least it will be more fun, fulfilling, richer emotionally and spiritually. if not all of these, then it sure as hell is going to be less frustrating
I feel like chatgpt came around and everyone immediately forgot what they were doing to get stuff done before. like writing centers, extensions, extra help, templates, office hours, beta readers, random generators, and art and writing prompts have all existed for ages. even if you were cheating there's always been sparknotes, photomath, copying, paying someone else to do it, faking that your grandma died, and whatever. all of that stuff is more reliable and doesn't fuck over the planet. and you might actually learn something
i read the sentence “abusers groom their character witnesses as carefully as they groom their victims” (in a comment thread in response to a “but i know [the accused] and hes such a nice man!!”) and it’s blowing my mind a weird amount even though i guess i already knew that
The passage of the seasons - Summer defeating Spring
Summer as blinding light, heatwaves, and fire
''Poor Spring'' There’d be no Summer without Spring and she happily welcomes someone who surpasses her in this fight
Super TERFY posts on TikTok are pulling like 400k likes and most of them are from black women. One post was even unpacking how the entire concept of TERF might be bullshit. All of them agreeing it’s a silencing tactic. I didn’t know the peak happening over there was so drastic.
It’s looking like a TERF summer girls
You know how it feels when you first read that men in Afghanistan aren't allowed to treat women, and there aren't enough female doctors to treat other women, and that endometriosis isn't fully understood even though it's a very common disease among women, and then you go on Tumblr and people are laughing at the author for using "female biology" in a post and calling it dogwhistle
Really like it when Aphrodite is depicted wearing bigass headwear, huge fan of that btw
(This one isnt that big but who cares)
if i were a great silver screen goddess, i'd forbid men from making horrors or thrillers - usually the best they can do is another torture porn slop. i genuinely avoid people who relish in watching that shit. there just must be something wrong with you if you enjoy watching women being dismembered, humiliated, bleeding and begging, all of it while still wearing tight knickers and tops without a bra
I don't trust anyone who likes horror movies, the whole genre is based off of torturing women in various ways. There are way too many women who think they are "not like other girls" cuz they love horror movies, nah you're just a misogynist
while it's true that a lot of horror movies portray women this way, we can't exactly put this whole genre to trash - horror as a genre, both cinematically and literary, has always had a lot of great works by women and about women.
some of my favourites are The Babadook, You Are Not My Mother, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Saint Maud, Sharp Objects and Gone Girl (both written by Gillian Flynn, although maybe they are more on the thriller/criminal side), The Lodge - and that's just about the movies, you can find tons of great horror novels by women and about women.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is considered by some the first horror novel, Ann Radcliffe and Emily Brontë were also there as the founding mothers of this genre.
to dismiss the whole thing as "not like other girls" is to - consciously or not - forget about their works and trash them along with some shit like Terrifier, which no one will remember after a few years
my relationships with other girls as a child would be so, so much easier if we all weren't fed with old men's fantasies about what it means to be a woman. most of the "mean girls" were just trying harder than most to fit into this unachievable mold - physically, emotionally, socially. i wish all of us could understand, back then, that we don't have to hate each other and fight for attention and approval of some losers with skid marks and dirty nails.
we don't have to love each other, but i feel like our coexistence was made irrationally harder by those sets of ridiculous rules and archetypes.
are you a pretty girl or a tomboy? do you like to gossip? do you shave your legs? aren't you too aggressive? boys don't like it. girls are too much drama, they are toxic, they will push you under the bus at some point. boys only want one thing, don't forget it. don't sit like that. don't talk like that. don't provoke.
most of us were just terribly alone, with no one to tell us that all of it is just bullshit, that the world won't shatter if you decide to opt out. that everything will get so much easier once you stop caring about the mental torture of constant comparing, fixing, trying so hard to be a woman that just doesn't exist.
they try so hard to make us lose ourselves, our personalities, souls, just to make another barbie doll, unable to make an angry expression or sit with her legs spread.
men be like “apparently hating women makes u a misogynist 😂😂”
okay then don’t be the shitty man who perpetrates misogyny
