My Best Dressed at the 2019 Met Gala
As an intern for Pyer Moss I may be a bit biased but these suites...WIG.
Pyer Moss designer Kerby Jean-Raymond dressed Lena Waithe in a powder blue suit featuring fine lines from different iconic LGBT songs, her buttons were the faces of iconic African American LGBT trendsetters such as RuPaul and Dorian Corey. The back of her suit says is best âBlack Drag Queens Inventend Campâ, a play on the invented similarly to the popular âperiodtâ
This look is Camp class and best of all has amazing message. So proud! #ganggang
Janelle MonĂĄe in Christian Siriano
This look is a Camp, couture art. You can really tell Janelle is an all around artists and is able to communicate her artistic abilities in everything she dose. With hats on hats on hats and an eye that blinks itâs long lashes at photographers, I was left in awe. #camplives
As one of the nightâs hosts, Lady Gaga served us Camp on a platter having several wardrobe changes in the course of 15 minutes. The first was a hot pink Brandon Maxwell gown complete with a gigantic bow, exaggerated train, and entourage of umbrella holding men, she quickly morphed into a full length black gown with a matching black umbrella giving major Marry Poppins vibes, the third look was a tight hot pink dress accompanied by a prop like oversized phone, for her last look she stripped down to a studded lingerie set with fishnet stocking, studded platform heel boots, and a trailing hot pink wagon full of rosĂŠ and pink cowboy hats.
15 minutes, four look, they all served, that is all. #didnâtcometoplay
Billy whore a gold body suit with matching headpiece and gorgeous gold wings designed by The Blonds
Billy Porter outdid his Oscars tuxedo gown look, making a grand entrance as an Egyptian Sun God. I have to be honest, he made my list more so because of his amazing entrance than his look itself but the look was still amazballs all on its own. #EgyptmeetsKingsLanding
RuePaul in Zaldi.
As Lenaâs suit said, âBlack drag-queens intentend Campâ so I would be remise if I didnât mention mama Rue himself. Arguably the most famous drag queen rocked a rainbow zebra printed suit by Zaldi. Although the look is soft Camp, I have to say I was disappointed in Rueâs head, I respect him not wanting to come in drag but I would of really appreciated some Campy makeup to really take this look home for me. #respect #mamadoesitbest Â
My Worst Dressed at the 2019 Met Gala
Disclaimer: This yearâs theme was Camp meaning extra and weird; meant to entertain you and make you uncomfortable. Combining Camp with the typical glam of the Met Gala was the goal...
JLo wearing a crystal dripping Versace dress with matching head piece and iridescent heels.
The look is fab as always but it isnât on theme. Unfortunately, some people are so hung up on being sexy theyâre afraid to play outside the box and missed the mark on Camp. #daretobedifferent
Frank Ocean wearing who cares...Iâm putting in as much effort looking up the designer as he put into this look concept #sorrynotsorry
I mean come on he looks like heâs working the event. Serving valet parking attendant realness and I for one am NOT hear for it. #whybothershowingup
Kim Kardashian wearing a skin tight Mugler dripping in beads and sequins.
Again the look is stunning, the dripping accents mimicked falling water drops but it just wasnât Camp. Like JLo, Kim is hung up on being sexy and is clearly uncomfortable having fun or making fun of herself. Sheâs boring and it shows. #getthestickoutyourbuttkim
Katy Perry came through to lighten up the mood at this yearâs Met Gala wearing a chandelier dress by Moschino. Although this look is certainly on theme the execution fell dim for me. This look says cirque soleil not Met Gala.
E for effort but a hit and a miss for me. #Campnotlamp
Cardi B shoed up in a feathered Thom Browne dress, complete with a bejeweled connecting head piece and a train so extravagant she needed several assistants to help her maneuver in it.
The look was definitely Camp, extra in every way but it just wasnât visually appealing. The train looked like a comforter straight from IKEA and there are several weird accents in the front the most obvious being an elevated, textured, clump of material that resembled a manly appendage. #dickfordaysÂ
Three Common Mistakes People Make When Applying Eyeliner
Whether youâre a seasoned makeup guru or an eager novice, youâre well aware of the magic of liquid eyeliner. Itâs the perfect complement to any eye shape and complements any look, from a full-face masterpiece to a natural beat. Liquid eyeliner has virtually no consâŚexcept one. It can smell fear. If youâre nervous, rushing, or frustrated liquid eyeliner can transform your look from a cat eyed dream to a raccoon eyed nightmare, but this nightmare can be avoided! If youâre familiar with these common mistakes and how to avoid them you can defiantly up your liquid eyeliner game.
Completing One Eyeâs Liquid Eyeliner Before The Other: This may seem like a great idea but one of the most prominent things about liquid eyeliner is symmetry. This is best achieved when the base line of eyeliner is applied to both eyelids and then the winged portion of eyeliner. This allows you to concentrate on matching just the winged portion at one time as opposed to matching the whole eyeliner look on each eye at the same time.
Letting The Eyeliner DryToo Soon: Once liquid eyeliner has dried itâs practically impossible to manipulate and can be a nightmare to try to remove, often times resulting in a smudgy mess around the eyes. The best way to avoid this raccoon look is to stay focused on the task at hand and make sure the desired look is achieved before it dries. This will allow manipulation while itâs still wet and manageable.
Wiping It Off Without Product: So, itâs not symmetric, itâs dried, and it looks like crap. It needs to be removed and done over but how this is done can mean the difference between doing your liquid eyeliner over and the whole upper half of your face over. Trying to to wipe liquid eyeliner off without any product will result in an âIndian burnâ sensation in that area and an even bigger mess. Although expensive eye makeup removers have been pedaled pretty hard in the cosmetic market, the most efficient removal of liquid eyeliner involves a Q-tip and get this, lotion! Thatâs right, using a bit of any kind of lotion on the tip of a Q-tip will not only get the liquid eyeliner off effortlessly, but ensures that the surrounding areas are not messed up or altered in the process.
Achieving your desired look with liquid eyeliner can be difficult. Especially when youâre still learning or pressed for time, but being in-the-know about these three common mistakes and how to avoid them can really up your liquid eyeliner game. Itâs all about trial and error and never giving up. As the makeup guru and creator of Jeffree Star Cosmetics himself once said, âNever forget, beauty comes from withinâŚwithin eyeliner bottlesâ. -Jeffree Star

Yalitza Aparicio Wearing Rodarte

My Best Dressed at the 2019 Oscars
Jennifer Lopez Wearing Tom Ford
I mean...when does JLo not slay!? She demanded attention in this gorgeous silver mirror plated dress. Interesting yet simple. Sleek and sexy.
Regina King Wearing Oscar De La Renta
I donât know about yâall but I need some milk. Regina King DID that! This look is clean, classy, and fun with textured folds in an eye catching white color.
Allison Janney Wearing Pamella Roland
MOM sitcom star Allison Janney certainly doesn't look like anyoneâs mom in this dress. Itâs modern, elegant, and sexy.Â
Emma Stone Wearing Louis Vuitton
Brining a whole new meaning to the phrase âlooking like a snackâ, Emma Stoneâs look reminds me of Ferrero Rocher chocolates in all the right ways. She looks stunning...and delicious. Â
Billy Porter Wearing Christian Siriano Tuxedo Gown
The show stopper himself! Effortlessly combined masculinity and femininity for this iconic look that had everyone talking. I mean he served it and it was hot.
Burberry receives backlash for sending a look featuring a noose down the runway. Theyâve since apologized, explaining the rope accent was meant to channel the marine theme of the line and was is no way meant to have any racial implications but many continue to claim it is controversial racially insensitive. Thoughts?
LaQuan Smith Makes A Splash At NYFW
As an intern at The Hinton Group, a boutique Fashion PR firm, I had the honor and privilege to help put on the NYFW show for LaQuan Smith. From setup, to manning hair and makeup backstage, to checking in VIP guest at the door, it was all worth it when those lights dimmed and the show began!
LaQuanâs Fall/Winter â19 line is all about looking and feeling expensive and luxurious. Mixing business with pleasure with plaid printed skirts and sheer cheetah print bodysuits. There were also several crystal covered eye catching pieces that personally, gave me life, but some of the most notable looks to hit the runway collaborated with the imaginative fur pieces from SagaFurs. Basically WIG SNATCHED.
As LaQuan himself described the line, MONEY. POWER. RESPECT. Â
Creative Expression or Racism? You Decide.
During Black History Month, the iconic, Gucci fashion label received backlash for releasing what many called insensitive merchandise. A Balaclava knitted black sweater that covers most of the face and has a mouth opening with red lips (pictured above). This sweater retailed for $890 before it was pulled from their website. Gucci has since issued an apology and announced a big push to increase diversity hiring, but not before thousands of people spoke out against what they considered blatant racism including rappers 50 Cent and T.I. Â
