Books, books, books. (A preview of my next book “Flummi allein zuhaus”, coming this fall)
Coming this fall 2016: The second “Q-R-T” book.

Only less than three weeks left for finishing my book. Since one month I am sketching, inking and coloring two pages per day (without resting), which is quite stressful. But it also shows me what I am actually capable of. I really didn’t post any bits of making ofs here on TUMBLR - but I did on INSTAGRAM.
If you happen to speak french, this conférence from David Prudhomme is a delight.
In January 2015 I attended a workshop at the Goethe Institut, Paris about “Animated Webcomics”. I came up with a sort of Random Animated Webcomic, consisting of five panels. Their order is chosen by randomness whichs gives 120 different possibilities. In theory, each version tells a different story, depending on what was said the panel before. You can look at it here: http://gifworkshop.papiergache.net/portfolio/ferdinand-lutz/
I am still not 100 % happy with how the story changes depending on the random selection. After finishing my book I will sure make some more of them.
These days I am working on my first comic book with “Q-R-T”, the character I draw monthly for “Dein SPIEGEL”. It’s going to be published by Reprodukt, which is THE best publishing house for independent comics in Germany, publishing all my favorite comic authors as Trondheim, Larcenet, Blain, Guibert, Mahler, Clowes, Nicolas de Crecy etc. Have a look at their website.
Initially I contacted Reprodukt to propose to them a different project, which they found promising. While we kept writing back and forth, sharping the book, one day I sent them an episode of “Q-R-T”, not to pitch it, but to show them that I included some of their book covers in the background just for fun. It turned out that they became very enthusiastic about doing a book with “Q-R-T” as well.
So here we are, the project I proposed them first is on hold at this moment (I still love it and am eager to work on it as soon as I am finished).
For me this book with “Q-R-T” offers the great chance to improve the introduction to the whole series, to better settle the characters. The series was done very quickly and I made many detours (not to mention that my drawing skills improved). So I will redraw and rewrite everything and write about 40 new pages that never appeared in the magazine. When in life do you get the chance to correct something? I am happy.
Deadline for me is mid August, until then I will constantly post bits and pieces of the whole process here, on my Tumblr, as well as on Twitter and Instagram.
I am thinking a lot about colors these days.

For "Dein SPIEGEL" (the children's version of DER SPIEGEL) I draw a monthly comic called "Q-R-T" (5 pages each issue). The whole magazine now got its digital app with a fancy adaptation of my comic.
You can get some impressions in this video.
And the best is: The current issue can be downloaded for free (Android and Apple).
