Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to tumblr so apologies if this is badly written. One of my close friends has recently come out as trans (mtf) and I'd like to know if anyone has tips on how I can best support her through her transition, I have quite a few trans friends but not many who have transitioned since I met them, also all of them are either ftm or non binary so I've never really had any close mtf friends before. We are doing a makeover hangout soon where I'm gonna curl her hair and do her nails and stuff and watch some girly films, but if there's anything anyone can suggest it would be greatly appreciated!

Buffy and Drusilla having the same birthday makes me froth at the mouth like could you imagine Buffy and co. going out for her birthday to celebrate and then she spots Dru and Spike in a corner booth with a big fuckoff cake that neither of them is eating with one single lit candle and she just makes her trademark unsettling eye contact with Buffy and blows out the candle (she knew Buffy would be here which is why she insisted on coming to this particular place). This post has made me realise that I never acknowledged the fact that buffy and dru share a birthday. How has this never been brought to my attention, I'm genuinely stumped. Also this makes all the buffy/dru character parallels even more connected. Damn.

YES! Why do people think it's ok to paraphrase the content of the sentence. If a hearing person can hear those extra few words, they need to be written in the subtitles. And they do it as if people won't notice. Deaf people can tell when someone's lips don't match up to the subtitles, and when watching things with my deaf friend they have to constantly ask me to repeat it all as it was ACTUALLY said because Netflix thinks it's fine if it's a little off.

personally I'm annoyed by the socioeconomic conditions that made words like "unalive" necessary but simultaneously impressed by the linguistic adaptations young people have made to continue talking about important things while subject to those conditions and I think if you can't hold both of those thoughts in your head you might just be old man yelling at cloud

when i was a kid my Getting To Sleep technique was visualizing a child-sized shriveled up mummy with big piercing eyes that would stand silhouetted in the doorway & stare at me & probably attack if i so much as opened my eyes after getting into bed & this technique caused me to develop a lifelong nighttime-induced paranoia & it still takes me 2 hours to fall asleep. so i wouldnt recommend that

There used to be these dark shadow entity's that would come in my room at night to check I was asleep except they weren't evil they were just "the sleep inspectors" and they would watch me lie there until I fell asleep and if I moved they'd know I was awake so I'd lie super still because I didn't want to disappoint them because I couldn't go to sleep because I thought it would make them think they were bad at their job. The people pleasing started early for me. Sometimes I miss those guys, they were nice. They were just looking out for me.

Being new to tumblr is weird because everyone talks about, "2010s tumblr" like it was a great empire that fell after a devastating war and now all that's left is this barren wasteland of shitposting and headcanons and I really can't figure out what happened, was there a tumblr war? who knows?

Ok, I lied, there's more, I think that WHEN they bring doctor who back they need a teenage companion, who gets stuck with the doctor accidentally (because the doctor wouldn't willingly kidnap a minor) and they don't even really like the doctor at first but they get stuck together and form a strong parent/child bond idk i feel like the doctor gets on really well with kids and I need them to adress the fact that the doctor had kids again instead of them mentioning it occasionally and then immediately moving on, also it'd be really funny to have a gen z kid in the tardis, using internet slang. Also the kid should be in some way isolated from their peers (queer or disabled or struggling with mental health) so that they bond with the doctor because the doctors literally an alien and the only one of their kind and knows what it's like to be different

here's how the buffyverse can come back in a big way: we finally do a nikki wood show!

i mean can you imagine how fucking cool a buffyverse show set in 1970s new york with a slayer like nikki wood as your titular character would be? there is sooo much unexplored about her.

was she called while she was pregnant, before, or after? who is robin's father? why isn't he in the picture? what was her day-to-day like; she clearly didn't have much help seeing as she was out late slaying with her young son. what was her interpersonal life like —that made her finally give into spike???

and besides the captivating character exploration that this show would present, can you imagine the rockin soundtrack potential? the costuming, the set design!? and i'm gonna need it to be shot on film (with good lighting and og btvs effects).

the next question is who would you cast as nikki?

I know there's a lot of debate on how to bring doctor who back and how to do it well, but all I really want is an episode where the doctor and the new companion go back in time to like the 70s or 80s (or whenever it fits in the timeline) and meet young Harriet Jones, only the doctor doesn't realise it's her until the very end and she goes "I'm so sorry I should have properly introduced myself, I'm Harriet Jones, MP for flydale north" (and holds up her ID card of course) and it's like the face of boe reveal, and the companion is like "wait wasn't she the prime minister in 2005?!?!"

Is it just me getting slightly annoyed with all this fanart of El/Jane that depicts her as really fucking skinny, like, I keep seeing a lot of fanart of El/Jane where she's way thinner than the actual character/actor to the point where I often don't realise it's her because the artist has completely changed her body type, I think its a shame because MBB is really beautiful and has an amazing body, i wish people didnt feel the need to ozempify her in fanart idk, has anyone else seen this or is it just me???
