feyhyunwoo:
there’s something about having been alive for so long that has honed hyunwoo’s perception of even small tells, especially of those he knows particularly well. now that he’s bonded once more with donghyun, he has his enhanced senses once again, too. all of these combined means that hyunwoo notices when hyunjin’s eyes flicker towards the garbage bags piled up by the door, the minuscule tilt of his head, and he pauses.
“i’ll toss the garbage first, then wipe the table,” he offers gently. even so, there’s no room that he leaves for hyunjin to really protest, not that he thinks the other would protest. it’s fairly clear that hyunjin, easily scared as he is, isn’t willing to go out in the dark alone to toss the garbage bags. not that hyunwoo blames the younger (or even minds), given that the nights can be dangerous, especially for an unbonded witch like hyunjin who is quite non-confrontational.
tossing the garbage barely takes him any time at all, unafraid as he is of the dark and the creatures that linger there, knowing that he can handle them. long strides take him from the front door to the counter where he snatches up the cloth, heading back to wipe his table. “i’m done,” he calls back as he finishes up, laying the cloth on the counter before he washes his hands a final time, drying them. “ready to go home?”
his eyes widen slightly when hyunwoo comments on the garbage bags and he just nods quietly when the other takes them not quite sure how the older had known that that was the one thing he needed to do. it used to be on his list of things to do before closing, but since his scare a few days ago he had switched it up to be on his to do list for opening instead.
hopefully, his nerves would calm down and allow him to do things normally again soon.
he quietly washes the plate and his own cup that had been holding tea as well, humming softly to himself as he cleans them and then places them on the drying rack for tomorrow. there’s nothing left to do after that so he just goes into the back to get his coat and bag, tucking his phone into his pocket before he hears the familiar chimes, knowing that it was hyunwoo returning from dumping the trash.
“thank you hyung,” hyunjin says softly, walking up to the other with a small smile on his lips, genuinely grateful. he bumps him gently with his shoulder before he tilts his head towards the door. “let’s ... go,” he says quietly, feeling a bit nervous but not as badly as he had the night before when he had practically run home alone.
